Chapter 205 It's Good to Break Up
Gregory never thought there was anything weird about Tricia and Abigail being so close. They were best friends, after all.
He got jealous occasionally but made an effort to control it, avoiding becoming the possessive type who restricted his wife's friendships.
But today? What the heck did he just hear? Did Tricia really say if Abigail were a guy, she'd marry her?
Abigail was his wife!
His!
Watching them hug so tightly, practically glued together, Gregory felt a jealousy he'd never felt before.
He couldn't help but clear his throat, breaking up their little moment. Taking advantage of their surprise, he quickly walked over, grabbed Abigail's wrist, and gently pulled her away from Tricia.
Tricia had been chatting away with Abigail when suddenly, her arms were empty. She looked up and met Gregory's cold, piercing stare.
Those deep eyes were full of suspicion, with a hint of something darker.
Tricia instinctively shrank back, shivering. "Mr. White, are you here to take Abigail home?"
"Yeah," Gregory replied, his voice icy.
The atmosphere got super awkward, and Tricia was mentally screaming for help!
Did Gregory hear everything she just said? She was just joking! Why was he looking at her like she was some kind of enemy?
'This is terrifying! Total nightmare material!' Tricia thought.
Abigail sensed the tension too. She tugged on Gregory's sleeve and said, "Mr. White, this isn't the place to talk. Let's go outside first, okay?"
"Alright." Gregory's face softened immediately at Abigail's words, and his gaze turned affectionate.
Tricia, watching Gregory's change of expression, stayed silent.
'Classic Gregory,' she thought.
Her eyes drifted down to their tightly clasped hands, and a wave of bitterness hit her.
She covered her face and muttered, "Are you two serious? Can you at least show some respect for me, the one who just got dumped?"
She thought Gregory might back off a bit after that. But nope, he just raised an eyebrow and said, "Broke up? Good, Tom wasn't right for you."
Tricia stayed silent.
But after that little exchange, she did feel a bit better. She picked up the pregnancy test report Tom had tossed, folded it, stashed it in her bag, and waved to them.
"Alright, you guys head back. I should get home too; I've got work tomorrow!" she said, turning to leave.
"Wait!" Abigail quickly called out.
Tricia turned back, blinking in confusion. "What's up?"
Abigail bit her lip, her eyes full of worry. "Tricia, c'mon, we'll drop you home. I ain't cool with you goin' solo."
Tricia was stunned for a moment, then waved her hand dismissively. "It's fine, it's just a breakup. I've been through worse. No big deal, really!"
The more Tricia insisted she was fine, the more Abigail couldn't help but worry.
Abigail knew Tricia too well; the more she said she was fine, the more it meant something was up. Even though Tricia hadn't been with Tom for long, Abigail knew she was serious about him.
She must be really hurting right now.
Back in the day, whenever Tricia went through a breakup, they'd hit the bar, drink, and cry it out together.
But now, with Tricia being pregnant, drinking was off the table. Who knew what she might do in this state?
Abigail looked up at Gregory and said softly, "Mr. White, let's take Tricia home. Otherwise, I really won't feel at ease."
Then she turned to Tricia and said, "Tricia, come on, don't make me worry."
Hearing this, Tricia couldn't argue and just nodded.
She sneaked a glance at Gregory's face. Seeing he wasn't upset, she felt a bit relieved.
Gregory drove while Tricia and Abigail chatted in the back.
Abigail rested her head on Tricia's shoulder and asked, "What are you gonna do about the baby? Keep it or not?"
Tricia had already broken up with Tom, so if she kept the baby, it would be fatherless.
Tricia bit her lip, her eyes full of confusion. "I don't know."
A few days ago, when she found out she was pregnant, Tricia was over the moon, ready to shout it from the rooftops.
But now, it felt like she had plummeted from a great height into a deep abyss, shattering into pieces.
Abigail hugged her tightly, gently patting her shoulder, and comforted, "It's okay. If you're stuck, don't stress it right now. Just know that whatever you decide, I've got your back all the way."
Hearing Abigail's words, Tricia's eyes instantly filled with tears, and she couldn't stop them from flowing. She hugged Abigail tightly and cried uncontrollably, "Abigail, thank you."
"Silly, we're best friends, remember? We swore we'd have each other's backs, no matter what," Abigail said.
Tricia wiped her tears and choked, "I haven't forgotten, Abigail. I'm so glad you're here."
Gregory focused on driving, occasionally glancing at the rearview mirror to check on them.
Seeing Abigail crying too, Gregory couldn't help but feel heartbroken.
He silently cursed Tom in his mind and made a decision—this matter couldn't end so easily!
Soon, the car arrived at Tricia's apartment building, and Gregory slowly parked the car.
Tricia quickly wiped her tears and thanked Gregory, "Mr. White, thank you for today. You should take Abigail home now."
Seeing Tricia like this, how could Abigail feel at ease?
After thinking for a moment, Abigail said to Gregory, "Mr. White, you should go home alone tonight. I want to stay with Tricia for the night."
Gregory was stunned, his brows slowly furrowing.
Seeing Gregory's displeased expression, Tricia quickly waved her hand in refusal. "No, no, I'm really fine. I can't take up your time."
Abigail pouted, dissatisfied. "Since when did you start being polite with me? It's settled then!"
Saying this, she quickly got out of the car and waved to Gregory. "Mr. White, you should go back. Drive safely."
Gregory fell silent, his sympathy and guilt for Tricia vanishing instantly when Abigail abruptly left him.
