Chapter 56 Warning

Abigail shrugged. "You just realized that? What you did to me before was a thousand times worse than this. How come you can't handle it now?"

Roman had nothing to say. He looked at Grace with a pleading gaze.

"Grandma, please lend me the money first. I'll pay you back when I have the money."

Ever since Gregory froze Roman's card, Roman has had no money; otherwise, he wouldn't have sunk so low as to write IOUs.

It was extremely ironic. Roman had never cared about fifty million dollars before.

But now, he had to bow down to Abigail for the sake of fifty million dollars.

Grace shook her head slowly and said, "You have to repay the debts you owe on your own. Now that you're an adult, you have to take responsibility for your actions."

Elaine had spoiled Roman. Not only was he arrogant, but he also used the money Gregory had worked hard for to indulge himself.

If this account had been settled, Roman would not have been able to repay this money in his lifetime.

But Gregory was not a petty person; he hadn't cared about that money before.

But Roman couldn't owe Abigail a single dollar.
Roman dropped his head in disappointment and then looked to Gregory for help, his eyes filled with hope.

Gregory glanced at Roman and shook his head.

He coldly said, "Abigail is my wife, which means I am now also your creditor. If you want to borrow money from me, that's fine. But you have to repay your debt first."

"Gregory, you're being too petty," Roman said, feeling angry and immediately wanting to argue with Gregory.

But Gregory didn't care at all. Instead, he asked, "When you spread rumors about Abigail and forced her to break off the engagement with you, did you not care? Now that you're in trouble, you suddenly feel upset?"

Roman didn't know what to say, his face flushing red.

Under everyone's watchful gaze, he asked Andy for paper and pen and then rewrote a debt note.

Roman signed his name in the bottom right corner and angrily handed it to Abigail.

Just as Abigail was about to reach out to take it, someone had already taken the debt note.

Gregory glanced at the debt note, confirmed its accuracy, folded it neatly, and put it in his pocket.

Abigail and Roman looked at Gregory in confusion, and Gregory calmly said, "I'll take care of this debt note, and if you need to repay the money, you can directly transfer it into my account."

Gregory hoped that Roman and Abigail would never have any interaction from now on, so how could he create an opportunity for them to meet?

Abigail now trusted Gregory a lot, so when she heard him say that, she immediately agreed.

After all, the money she spent now was basically Gregory's pocket money.

He gave her the card she used.

So, it wouldn't make a difference to whom she repaid the money.

Abigail didn't resist or feel resentful, so Gregory quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

He had never been a good person, and he always had confidence in getting what he wanted.

Except for Abigail, he used to believe that only by letting go could Abigail be happy, so he forcibly suppressed his desires.

But now, he could hardly control his possessiveness towards Abigail.

Perhaps this was despicable, but he hoped that Abigail would only have him in her eyes as a man.

Grace and Andy noticed Gregory's abnormal behavior, so they exchanged a smile.

"All right, it's almost lunchtime. Why don't you stay and have a meal together? Gregory, come over here. I have something to tell you," Grace said, adjusting the shawl on her body before leaving the room.

Gregory briefly talked to Abigail and quickly left Grace's bedroom.
The room was now only occupied by Abigail and Roman.

Roman looked at Abigail, his brows furrowed tightly, and then he asked, "Why did you marry Gregory?"

"I wanted to get married. What's the problem?" Abigail wanted to be with Roman in a different space.

Because it would remind her of the image of Roman making love to Jessica in the hotel that day, she couldn't help but feel a bit nauseous.

Roman said solemnly, "I remember you had no connection with Gregory before. You could have married anyone, so why did you choose him?"

Abigail found his words strange. "Who I marry is my freedom. What right do you have to interfere?"

Roman shook his head slowly, looking somewhat heartbroken.

Although Grace had explained this to Roman before, he still insisted that Abigail seduce Gregory to take revenge on him.

"Abigail, stop it. Gregory is not someone you can easily provoke."

Abigail was stunned for a moment, and it took her a while to understand what Roman meant.

Abigail suddenly sneered and then said sarcastically, "Roman, why didn't I know before that you were so selfish? Who do you think you are? Why should I sacrifice my lifelong happiness to get back at you?"

Roman proudly said, "If you don't like me, then why have you been with me all these years? Why aren't you angry no matter how much I despise you?"

He raised his head arrogantly in front of Abigail.

Abigail had been following him all these years. No matter where he went, she would follow.

Whenever Roman made a mistake and was afraid of Grace's punishment, Abigail would help him resolve it.

If all of this didn't count as liking him, then what did?

Abigail tilted her head slightly, looking at Roman's familiar face, and her heart suddenly ached.

Why had she been following Roman all this time?

Why did Abigail not choose to break off the engagement even though Roman liked Jessica and even though he called Abigail worthless on so many occasions?

Because Roman was a different existence in Abigail's heart.

That wasn't love but a kind of redemption.

Abigail had been kidnapped ten years ago, and it was Roman who had saved her at the risk of his own life.

Although Abigail had lost some of her memories, she always remembered a fuzzy figure calling her name repeatedly when she was close to death.

In the end, this person rescued her.

When Abigail opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was Roman's worried and caring gaze.

Since then, she had become dependent on Roman, wanting to be with him all the time.

Because it was the first time someone other than Michelle was willing to risk their life to save Abigail.

Abigail has always been a person who lacks a sense of security, especially after Michelle's death.

For her, Roman was one of the few sources of warmth in her life.

Abigail remained silent with her head down, which only strengthened Roman's belief.

He thought Abigail must have loved him deeply, which is why she sought revenge on him by seducing Gregory after he had betrayed her.

Roman became even more arrogant and mocked Abigail, "Don't blame me for not warning you. Gregory is not a good person. I advise you to stay away from him."

Gregory came out of the study just as he was about to find Abigail and happened to hear this statement.

He paused, with his hand on the door, standing at the entrance without immediately going in.

Abigail's voice soon came from inside the room. "Who gave you the right to interfere with my life? Gregory is much better than you, you jerk. He is not only handsome but also rich. Anyone with eyes can see who is the better choice. If it weren't for the engagement, do you think I would care who you are?"
