Chapter 146 Punished
The effects of the drug took less than five minutes to set in, and Olivia could no longer endure it. She felt as though she were being roasted over a fire, her entire body searing with unbearable heat.
Gradually, her consciousness began to blur, and her limbs became uncontrollable.
She reached out to tear at her clothes, trying to alleviate the heat inside her.
Elaine was frightened by her actions and quickly stopped her. "Olivia, I've already sent someone to get ice. Just hold on a little longer."
"Aunt Elaine, I feel so awful," Olivia said, full of grievance and unwillingness.
Her eyes uncontrollably reddened, and tears slowly trickled down her cheeks.
Seeing this, Elaine felt even more heartbroken. Despite her best efforts, Gregory's heart was as hard as stone, refusing to allow her to call a doctor.
In just a few minutes, Olivia had torn several holes in her clothes, her hair a disheveled mess. Sweat soaked her hair, dripping down the strands.
She looked pitiful.
Unfortunately, no one was there to appreciate it.
The servants pouring ice into the bathtub only glanced at her before quickly looking away.
They couldn't help but sigh inwardly, thinking Olivia had really messed up.
Of all people to provoke, why Gregory?
Fifteen minutes later, seeing Olivia on the verge of collapse, Elaine hurried downstairs to beg Grace.
Perhaps the earlier scene had left too deep an impression on her; she didn't even dare to look at Gregory again.
Seeing her in such a panic, Grace nodded slightly. "Call an ambulance."
Elaine was overjoyed and quickly picked up the phone to dial. However, her agitation made her hands tremble, causing her to dial the wrong number several times.
The ambulance arrived quickly, and the unconscious Olivia was carried onto a stretcher and taken to the hospital.
The farce finally came to an end.
Grace sighed heavily and got up from the sofa. "I need to go rest for a while. I won't be keeping you for dinner tonight."
Knowing Grace's health wasn't good, Gregory nodded. "Alright, I'll have the family doctor come by later for a full check-up."
Grace agreed softly and went upstairs with Andy's help.
As Andy supported Grace, he asked in a low voice. "Mrs. Grace White, what do you think Mr. White's intention was in doing this?"
From what he knew of Gregory, he wouldn't have shown such leniency to anyone else.
Grace said, "To prove his loyalty."
"What do you mean?" Andy asked, intrigued.
A rare smile appeared in Grace's eyes. "Can't you see? They haven't truly consummated their marriage yet."
Andy was shocked. "What? That can't be. Mr. White and Mrs. White have been married for over a month."
Grace chuckled. "I know Abigail's character well. Her mother's death hurt her deeply, and then she faced Roman's infidelity. Without enough trust, she would never give herself to someone."
She wasn't a stubborn old lady.
Except for not letting Jessica into the house, she never interfered in anything else.
She could see that Gregory cared deeply for Abigail.
It was precisely because of this deep affection that Gregory wanted to provide Abigail with a sense of security. He aimed to show her that any other woman in his life was temporary and that she alone could truly be close to him.
Hearing this, Andy suddenly understood. "So Mr. White can be that meticulous. Indeed, love can change a person."
Grace nodded. "Gregory has a cold personality and endured many hardships as a child. He's been shutting off his emotions for years, but now he's finally starting to open up. As his mother, I can't fall behind."
Andy understood. "No wonder you didn't stop today's farce."
Grace smiled without saying a word.
Downstairs...
Gregory took Abigail's hand and stood up to leave. "The matter is resolved. Let's go."
"Okay," Abigail obediently replied, following him.
Once in the car, Gregory noticed she seemed down and asked, "Were you scared?"
Abigail snapped out of her thoughts and gently shook her head. "No, I was just thinking about something."
"What is it? Tell me," Gregory said.
Abigail glanced at him, hesitating. "Promise you won't get mad if I say it."
"Go ahead," Gregory said.
Abigail said, "Olivia is beautiful, capable, and likes you so much. When you were looking for someone to marry, why didn't you consider her?"
Gregory paused, stepped on the brake, and pulled the car over to the side of the road.
His sudden action caught Abigail off guard, causing her to lurch forward before the seatbelt yanked her back.
She blinked in confusion, not having time to react before Gregory suddenly leaned in.
Gregory's thin lips parted, and he lightly bit her earlobe as a form of punishment. "Why do you think?"
Abigail couldn't help but shiver and instinctively cried out.
Gregory wasn't ready to let her go just yet. He wrapped one arm around her slender waist and cupped the back of her head with the other. Their lips touched, noses brushed, and their eyes locked.
Abigail heard his husky voice ask, "Do you really want to give your husband to someone else?"
His voice was slow and calm, but to Abigail, it felt irresistible.
She quickly explained, "No, I don't. I was just curious!"
"Really?" Gregory smirked and moved even closer, capturing her lips and murmuring, "Then I'll show you with actions why it's you and not her."
Gregory's kiss was urgent and fierce, biting and nibbling at her lips as if he wanted to devour her.
Abigail could only tilt her head back and endure. She frowned slightly, wanting to say something, but as soon as she opened her mouth, his breath filled it entirely.
In a daze, Abigail felt his fresh, alluring scent enveloping her.
When the kiss finally ended, Gregory reluctantly let go of her lips, but his hand remained firmly in place.
His sexy Adam's apple bobbed, and his voice was hoarse. "Did you like my kiss?"
Abigail leaned weakly against the seat, her chest heaving.
Her cheeks flushed red upon hearing that, but she still nodded despite her embarrassment.
Gregory smiled in satisfaction, his slender fingers gently lifting her chin. "Abigail, look at me."
Abigail was forced to raise her head, meeting his deep, piercing eyes.
He said, "I can do this with you, but with Olivia or any other woman, I can't."
That was his answer.
From beginning to end, he only liked Abigail, and his wife would only be Abigail.
Abigail's heart started to race.
Did Gregory mean he liked kissing her? Or did he like her? Or both?
