Chapter 405 Psychiatric Hospital

Abigail suddenly sneered. "Jessica, you really are insatiable."

"I just want money, what's wrong with that?" Jessica didn't feel that her demands were excessive at all.

The White Group was a massive enterprise, and with Abigail managing the DM, raising a billion dollars should have been feasible. Once she secured the money, she could leave for good.

Abigail signaled to the bodyguards behind her. They immediately understood and surrounded Jessica. "It seems the previous lesson wasn't enough. You still haven't faced reality."

Looking at the tall and burly bodyguards, Jessica nervously swallowed. "What are you doing? Stay away!"

She looked at Abigail with venom in her eyes. "Abigail, make them back off!"

Abigail stood still. "I hate threats the most."

As soon as she finished speaking, the bodyguards pounced on Jessica, pinning her to the ground.

Jessica tried to struggle but couldn't break free, screaming in anger, "Abigail, are you crazy? Aren't you afraid I'll spread all the information about Michelle if you piss me off?"

Abigail sneered. "If you disappear from this world, do you think anyone would care?"

Jessica's eyes filled with terror as she looked at Abigail. "What are you going to do to me? Abigail, are you insane? This is illegal!"

Abigail remained unfazed. "Don't worry, I won't let you suffer too much."

Jessica screamed for help, but the next second, she felt a sharp pain in her neck and passed out.

Abigail coldly watched the unconscious person on the ground, her voice indifferent. "David loved Jessica so much. Now that he's in a mental hospital, it's time for Jessica to fulfill her filial duties."

The bodyguards, expressionless, dragged her away.

In no time, the villa's courtyard returned to complete tranquility, as if nothing had ever happened.

Abigail stood there for a long time, her eyes downcast, and no one knew what she was thinking.

She had originally intended to let Jessica go, but Jessica shouldn't have used Michelle to threaten her.

Her current fate was her own doing.

When Jessica woke up in the mental hospital, she smelled pungent disinfectant and saw a white ceiling. The room was tightly sealed, with the curtains drawn and an eerie silence.

She rubbed her sore neck and climbed out of bed, frantically pounding on the door. "Is anyone there? Help! Is anyone there?"

Where was this place?

She didn't want to stay here!

Soon, a man in medical attire walked in, looking at her sternly. "Shut up. It's already 12:30 AM. The hospital has a strict rule: no noise after midnight."

"Hospital? What hospital is this? Why am I here? Was it Abigail who brought me here? I want to see her!"

The doctor forcefully pushed her away, sneering, "There's no Abigail here. Behave yourself, accept the treatment, and try to get out early."

With that, he left without a backward glance.

Jessica fled into the eerily empty hallway, her breath quickening with each step. A sudden chill gripped her, forcing her to halt. As she slowly turned, a figure emerged—a woman with long, straight hair veiling her face. Jessica's scream pierced the silence.

The woman suddenly lifted her hair and laughed. "Are you here to play with me? Play with me, okay? I love girls like you."

Jessica closed her eyes tightly and screamed again, fainting from fear.

After handling company matters, Abigail and Gregory hurriedly flew to Aerilon.

Darwin's condition was unstable, and the hospital had issued a final notice.

If it weren't for the Worthington family's medical expertise, Darwin wouldn't have lived this long. Now, he was just barely holding on.

Upon arriving at the hospital, Abigail was taken aback by Darwin's dramatic weight loss in just two weeks. He appeared frail, his face ghostly pale. Tears brimmed in her eyes at the sight of him.

Darwin saw Abigail and slowly smiled lovingly. "Abigail, you're here?"

"Grandpa." Abigail stepped forward, tightly holding Darwin's hand, feeling a sharp pain in her heart.

Darwin smiled reassuringly. "Why are you crying? I've lived for decades, and I've had enough. Don't be sad."

"But I just reunited with you. I haven't had a chance to properly show my filial piety." Abigail's tears fell, her clear eyes full of sorrow.

Gregory stood behind her, his hands on her shoulders, silently comforting her.

Darwin looked at Gregory. "I've had you investigated. You're a good kid. Though you're a bit cold, you genuinely care for Abigail. I hope you continue to protect her."

The Worthington family was deeply indebted to Abigail. For the first 22 years of her life, they remained unaware of her existence, leaving her to suffer under David's cruelty. Despite this, her resilience and inherent kindness stood as a testament to her unyielding spirit.

Gregory's eyes were firm, his deep voice serious. "Don't worry. I'll protect her with my life."

Darwin nodded in satisfaction and slowly closed his eyes. "Alright, don't crowd around here. Go do what you need to do. Didn't the doctors say I have two months left? Even if I go now, I have no regrets."

Caius frowned. "Dad, stop talking this."

Michelle's eyes were also full of disapproval.

Darwin smiled and waved his hand. "Alright, alright, I won't say anymore. You all should go rest, especially Abigail and Gregory. You must be exhausted from the journey."

Abigail, with red-rimmed eyes, shook her head. "I'm not tired. I want to spend more time with you."

Mireille stood behind them, her expression complicated.

Why did she feel that Darwin had an emotion in his eyes when he looked at Abigail that she couldn't understand?

And why did Darwin seem closer to Abigail than to her, his own granddaughter?

Mireille looked at the others in the room and saw they had the same expression.

Could there be something she didn't know?
