Chapter 167 You'd Still Be in Bed

Abigail glanced up at him with a playful smile. "Oh really? Just how beautiful am I?"

Gregory leaned in, his forehead touching hers, and whispered in that deep, husky voice of his, "So beautiful that I can't stand the thought of letting you go. If it weren't for today's plans, you'd still be in bed."

Maybe it was the intensity of Gregory's gaze, Abigail couldn't bring herself to look him in the eye, worried she'd lose control.

She stood on her tiptoes and gave Gregory a light kiss on his lips. It was soft and gentle, like a feather brushing against his heart, making it flutter.

His throat tightened, and he had to muster all his willpower to not deepen the kiss.

Just then, a knock on the door interrupted them.

Ralph called from outside, "Mr. White, Mrs. White, breakfast is ready, and Mr. Schneider's here."

Hearing this, Abigail quickly pushed against Gregory's chest and whispered, "You know we have important stuff to do; let me go."

Gregory's fingers curled, and he leaned in close to her ear, his voice low and teasing. "I'll let you off today, but I'll make up for it later."

His words sent a shiver down her spine, and her ears burned with embarrassment. She shot him a playful glare, her eyes sparkling. "We'll see about that."

With that, she slipped out of his arms and dashed out of the room.

Gregory watched her go and smiled.

After breakfast, Abigail settled on the living room sofa, discussing the upcoming shareholders' meeting with Loren.

She instructed, "Mr. Schneider, the online buzz has hit its peak. It's time to release the statement and the lawyer's letter."

Loren nodded. "Got it. I prepped everything yesterday. As soon as the meeting starts, I'll send them out."

Abigail smiled. "Thanks, Mr. Schneider. You've been a huge help."

Loren waved it off. "Your mom did a lot for me back in the day. I'm just paying it forward, so don't worry about it."

Michelle was an amazing woman, kind and gentle, but she had a rough go of it. It took him a long time to move on after she passed. Abigail was Michelle's daughter, and he felt a duty to help her.

Abigail felt a wave of gratitude wash over her.

She thought for a moment and said, "Mr. Schneider, I heard you're thinking about switching companies. Once I get DM's shares back, I'd love to have you on DM's legal team. You in?"

Loren was taken aback for a second, then laughed. "Sure thing, just don't regret it later."

Abigail grinned. "No way! My mom always said you were top-notch, Mr. Schneider."

Loren had made a name for himself with a high-profile murder case years ago and was still a legend in the legal world. But he later switched to business law and kept a lower profile.

What happened in between, Abigail didn't know. But she always thought Loren was a go-getter.

Loren smiled but didn't say much, though his eyes showed a hint of weariness.

DM Conference Room.

David had gathered all the shareholders for a meeting.

The online scandal had caused quite a commotion, and everyone was eager to hear what David had to say.

As the meeting kicked off, David put on a pained expression and said, "I sincerely apologize to all of you!"

Many shareholders were confused and started to comfort him, "Mr. Martin, this isn't your fault."

Because of Abigail's plagiarism scandal, DM's stock had nearly tanked when the market opened. The shareholders were furious with Abigail.

David sighed, looking troubled. "No, it's my fault. I didn't keep her in check. Abigail's jealousy of Jessica was one thing, but I never thought she'd stoop to plagiarism!"

Shareholders who were close to David chimed in, "No one expected Miss Abigail Martin to be like this."

"She's spoiled!"

"Miss Jessica Martin is still so kind and gentle!"

Listening to the comments, some trashing Abigail and others praising Jessica, David felt very pleased.

'Isn't Abigail supposed to be so capable? Doesn't she want to cut ties with me? Let's see who at DM will still back her,' David thought.

Though he was pleased inside, David kept a straight face, showing no hint of his true feelings.

He waved his hand, his tone heavy. "It's still my fault. After her mother passed away, I never disciplined her properly. She even wanted to cut ties with me recently."

Hearing this, everyone was shocked. Their opinion of Abigail plummeted.

They thought, 'What? Cut ties? How dare she? Does she think she can be ungrateful just because she married Gregory?'

Suddenly, someone spoke mockingly, "I thought Michelle's daughter would inherit her talent, but she's just a worthless waste."

Others fell silent at the mention of Michelle's name.

Michelle was a big deal at DM and even throughout Aramore.

Years ago, Michelle had single-handedly founded DM for David and successfully broke into the Aramore market.

No one in the company disrespected her. If anyone did, they were eventually won over by her skills and talent.

So, everyone was even more angry and disappointed with Abigail.

David sat in the central position, his expression unchanged, but his eyes constantly scanned the shareholders. Seeing them belittle Abigail, he felt very pleased.

When the time was right, David finally spoke, "As a father, I understand that Abigail did all this to boost her reputation and improve her image in your view, just to take the company from me."
