Chapter 165 Abigail Was Insulted
Gregory didn't see that coming at all. He chuckled softly, his deep blue eyes full of warmth.
He reached out and gently messed up Abigail's soft golden hair, a slight smile playing on his lips. "Really? Well, I'm honored."
No one knew how long he'd been waiting for this moment. Right now, he felt like everything he'd done was totally worth it. For Abigail, he'd give up everything.
Abigail felt a bit shy under his intense gaze, her long, curled eyelashes fluttering as she quickly looked down. "Mr. White, hurry up and eat, or it'll get cold."
Seeing her shyness, Gregory toned down his gaze a bit. But his eyes never left her.
Outside the dining room, Ralph watched the scene and couldn't help but silently marvel, 'Gregory is something else! Who would've thought the guy with love in his eyes is so different in front of others? It is like he is a whole different person.'
Ralph shook his head helplessly and quietly left.
After dinner, he approached Gregory and lowered his voice, "Mr. White, how should we handle the online rumors?"
Gregory glanced at Abigail and said in a deep voice, "No need for now. They won't be smug for long."
With that, Ralph felt totally relieved. He knew Gregory wouldn't let those online trolls hurt Abigail without doing something.
Soon, those people online would stop gossiping. They had no idea who they were messing with.
Just like Ralph thought, two hours later, Leo drove up to Maple Residence, holding a stack of documents and a laptop.
Gregory just gave him a quick glance and then headed upstairs.
Leo got the hint and followed him into the study.
Curious, Abigail followed too. She wanted to know how Gregory planned to handle this mess.
Seeing her follow, a trace of helplessness flashed in Gregory's eyes.He didn't want Abigail to see his cold side, afraid it might scare her. But looking into her eyes, he couldn't bring himself to send her away.
They were going to be together for a lifetime, and he couldn't always show just his best side.
After thinking it through, Gregory waved her over. "Abigail, come here."
She walked over, letting Gregory pull her into his arms and sit beside him.
He lowered his head and kissed her forehead before saying to Leo, "Go ahead, what did you find out?"
Leo was silently covering his face, not daring to look at their intimate interaction. He kept repeating in his mind, 'I won't look, I can't look.'
It wasn't until Gregory called his name that he finally snapped out of it.
He quickly reported everything he had found. "Mr. White, just like you thought, David's been paying some netizens to insult Mrs. White online."
"Alright." Gregory lowered his head, casually playing with Abigail's soft hair, like he already knew this was coming.
Leo continued, "All the companies under the White Group have posted on social media, and now the internet is in chaos."
Gregory had all the companies under the White Group speak up for Abigail to back her up and stir the pot a bit.
David had blown millions trying to trash Abigail's reputation. Gregory had to make sure that money didn't go to waste. Otherwise, it would be a missed opportunity.
Abigail listened quietly, amazed.
Gregory was definitely the President of the White Group; his tactics were anything but simple. No wonder he made it big in the business world.
She'd heard people talk about how impressive Gregory was, but today she finally saw it for herself.
Abigail looked at Gregory, his deep-set features, sharp contours, and those cold, piercing eyes that screamed authority.
But she wasn't scared at all; instead, she felt like he was glowing, making it impossible to look away.
Seeing her staring, Gregory raised an eyebrow and asked, "Is there something on my face?"
Abigail snapped out of it, realizing she was caught, her cheeks turning red. Her eyes flickered as she quickly denied, "No, I was just looking around."
As soon as she said that, a large hand wrapped around her waist, pulling her close.
Gregory's handsome face stayed expressionless, but his deep blue eyes never left her, creating an unusually intimate vibe.
Abigail blushed, looking very beautiful.
Seeing Gregory lean in closer, Abigail quickly placed her hand on his chest.
She bit her lip and whispered, "There are others here, you should be mindful of your image."
Gregory suddenly smiled, reaching out to smooth her hair. "What are you thinking? I just saw your hair was messy and wanted to fix it."
Abigail was stunned, realizing she had been teased. She quickly swatted his hand away from her waist and sat up straight.
She huffed lightly, her tone proud. "Is that so? If you care so much about your image, then stay by yourself."
Gregory awkwardly touched his nose. He adjusted his expression and turned his head, seeing Leo staring at them.
Gregory immediately felt annoyed and said, "What are you looking at? Haven't you seen a loving couple before?"
Leo stayed silent. 'I've seen loving couples, but rarely have I seen you look so dejected, which is amusing,' Leo thought, but he didn't dare say that out loud.
He knew if he did, it wouldn't just be a matter of losing his salary.
To keep his job, Leo quickly changed the subject and continued, "Most of DM's investors have pulled out, and David doesn't have much funding left. He probably won't last long; it's just his last struggle, nothing to worry about."
Gregory nodded slightly with a wicked smile. "That's exactly what I want, for him to lose his composure."
Abigail couldn't figure out what he intended to do and curiously asked, "Mr. White, are you planning to bring down DM?"
