As soon as she finished speaking, another slap landed on her face.
This time, it was Ralph who did it.
His usually gentle face was now cold as ice, his eyes sharp and frosty, as if he would make her disappear if she dared to say another word.
Facing those cold eyes, Kayla shivered violently, her throat feeling as if it were being choked, unable to utter a single word.

Kayla bit her lip, trying to keep her voice from trembling. "Abigail, what do you want? Why can't you give Jessica and me a way out? Why are you so cruel?"
'A way out?'
Abigail sneered, "When I was bullied and abused by Jessica and the servants with your consent, did you ever think of giving me a way out? When you allowed Jessica to steal my engagement, did you ever think of giving me a way out? When you secretly bribed a gambler to trick me into marriage to steal my inheritance, did you ever think you'd end up like this? In terms of viciousness, who can compare to you?"
Abigail's tone was calm, almost without a trace of emotion, yet it sent chills down one's spine.
