Chapter 464 The Superfluous Person
Michelle was amused by his righteous attitude, pulled her hand back, and said coldly, "Are you really here to apologize? How can you be so insincere?"
Caius chuckled. "Then tell me, what will it take for you to forgive me? Should I kneel?"
Michelle couldn't help but laugh through her tears, and most of her anger dissipated.
Seeing her smile, Caius sighed in relief and pulled Michelle into his arms, as if wanting to merge her into his body. Michelle struggled briefly but then gave up, leaning on his shoulder in silence.
Abigail saw them hugging tightly and smiled with relief.
However, the hug lasted too long, making her feel a bit redundant.
Abigail couldn't help but cough lightly and said, "That's enough, can you stop being so affectionate in front of me?"
Were they taking advantage of the fact that her husband wasn't here?
When Gregory came back, she would make sure to hug him enough!
With her interruption, Caius and Michelle quickly let go of each other. Michelle's cheeks were flushed with an unnatural redness, clearly showing her shyness.
Caius cleared his throat and said seriously, "Let's get to the point. After the incident was exposed, Emrys escaped and is now missing. I came here because I'm worried they might take the opportunity to retaliate against you."
"Escaped?" Abigail and Michelle both looked shocked.
Caius nodded gravely. "I didn't expect him to be behind this. He might have sensed that I was investigating and fled first."
Abigail couldn't help but frown. "Tom has already been taken to the police station, so the threat has been greatly reduced. You don't need to worry too much."
Caius shook his head. "You don't understand Emrys. Outsiders say he's gentle and kind, but in reality, he's more scheming than anyone. He has always been resentful that Dad gave the Worthington Group's inheritance to me, and now he's even more dissatisfied."
After Caius clarified the situation, the online public opinion gradually shifted.
Gregory and Abigail's lives finally returned to normal.
As for Emrys, no one knew where he was hiding. Despite sending out so many people to search, there were still no clues.
One day, Abigail received a call from Henry and Tricia, saying that the wedding date had been set and the venue had been arranged, inviting them to help out.
Tricia put on the wedding dress designed by Abigail herself, and Abigail accompanied her throughout the wedding photo shoot.
Knowing that Tricia was pregnant and already showing, Abigail had specially enlarged the size of the wedding dress.
Although her belly was protruding, it didn't look out of place at all.
When Tricia leaned on Henry's shoulder, warmth and sweetness filled the air. The wedding photos celebrated their union and the baby. Friends Abigail and Gregory joined for a group shot, with Abigail and Tricia in the center, flanked by their protective husbands.
Even through the lens, one could feel an indescribable sweetness.
Abigail tilted her head and looked at Gregory, her eyes filled with a deep smile.
Gregory took the initiative to wrap his arm around her slender waist, pulling her closer, and whispered in her ear, "It looks like we should start planning our wedding too."
Abigail nodded with a smile. "Let's ask our parents to pick a good date when we get back."
Gregory's lips curved slightly. "Don't worry, it won't be any less grand than Henry's wedding. I'll make sure you're satisfied."
After taking the photos, Abigail changed out of her evening dress, said goodbye to Henry and the others, and went home with Gregory.
After standing on the lawn all day and running around various venues, Abigail was exhausted. As soon as she got into the car, she started to feel sleepy.
Her eyes were almost closed, and she leaned on Gregory's leg, falling asleep immediately.
Feeling the weight on his leg, Gregory couldn't help but chuckle softly, patting her gently to soothe her.
When they got home, he didn't wake her up but carried her directly to the bedroom.
After placing Abigail on the bed, Gregory thoughtfully tucked her in before getting up and going to the study to call Leo. "How's David doing at the police station? Is he behaving?"
Leo replied, "How could he be? He caused a big scene after he got in, almost injuring the on-duty officer. He's now under strict supervision."
Gregory sat down at his desk and said calmly, "In that case, don't hold back. I remember David once got some people he didn't like into the police station. Find a way to get David in there."
Leo's eyes lit up with excitement. "Got it, I'll take care of it right away."
Since David didn't plan to leave Abigail any way out, they didn't need to hold back either.
After hanging up, Gregory turned on his computer to catch up on missed work. By three a.m., he was in a video conference with the overseas team.
Over the years, the White Group had been expanding its overseas business and international trade, and it now had considerable prestige internationally.
