Chapter 289 The Unluckiest Person
When Abigail learned of the result, she didn't know whether to gloat or sympathize with David.
Jessica, whom she had cherished for so many years, turned out not to be her biological daughter, and she had been kept in the dark all this time.
David had even spared no effort for her.
Abigail sighed inwardly and shook her head silently.
Leo and Gregory, standing nearby, also had complex expressions.
Gregory, who was always expressionless and never showed his emotions, revealed nothing.
But Leo was different. He looked at David and Jessica, who were displaying deep father-daughter affection, and struggled to hold back his laughter.
Setting everything else aside, David was undoubtedly the unluckiest person he had ever met. If they didn't know the truth, they might have marveled at the deep bond between David and Jessica.
But at this moment, Leo just found it amusing. The next second, he burst out laughing.
His laughter suddenly echoed in the hospital room, making it seem very abrupt.
David and Jessica turned their heads to look at him, their eyes full of displeasure. "Why are you still here?"
Leo cleared his throat, regaining his usual cold expression, and sneered, "Mr. Martin, have you forgotten your agreement with Mrs. White?"
Jessica and Susan have been released, so it's time to hand over the remaining photos.
David's face darkened. "In my current condition, I can't be discharged. I'll give them to you in a few days."
Abigail's lips curled into a mocking smile. "No need. We've prepared a special vehicle for you. It has plenty of space and is fully equipped with medical facilities. Let's go."
It was clear they wouldn't leave without the photos today.
David had intended to delay for a few more days, but he hadn't expected Abigail to be so aggressive.
He lowered his eyes, quickly thinking of a countermeasure.
If he handed over the photos, given Gregory's vengeful nature, his future wouldn't be peaceful.
If he didn't hand them over, he might not have a future at all. With Gregory's power, crushing him would be as easy as crushing an ant.
After some consideration, David gritted his teeth and said, "Alright, I'll take you there."
Abigail's lips curled, and she coldly reminded him, "You better not try any tricks, or the news of the former chairman of DM's sudden death will be on tomorrow's headlines."
"You wouldn't dare!" David's face twisted in anger as he glared at Abigail.
Just as Abigail was about to speak, Gregory pulled her into his arms, saying, "She wouldn't dare, but I would."
Gregory's eyes were cold, and he exuded an air of contempt. David's heart tightened, and he didn't dare to speak further.
"Leo, fetch the doctor; even if we have to carry Mr. Martin out today, he must be taken away."
"Yes." Leo gave David a deep look and quickly left the room.
With the help of doctors and nurses, David was carried into the vehicle.
David's face was flushed with anger, but he didn't dare to breathe heavily.
Gregory asked coldly, "Where's the address?"
David clutched his chest and weakly said, "At Aramore Cemetery."
Hearing this, Abigail's pupils contracted sharply, and she rushed forward to kick David hard.
"David, you bastard! My mom passed away, and you still won't let her rest in peace." Abigail was trembling with anger, her blood almost freezing.
David had stored the photos at Mechelle's grave, not allowing her to rest even after death?
David groaned in pain from the kick, instinctively curling up, but inadvertently pulling at his freshly stitched surgical wound.
He couldn't help but gasp in pain and pleaded in a low voice, "I just thought the most dangerous place would be the safest. I know I was wrong."
