Chapter 359 Being Targeted
Michelle sighed regretfully. "Looks like I can't go. My health is too poor."
Seeing the disappointment in Michelle's eyes, Caius felt a pang of sadness and quickly pulled her into his arms.
"Fool, it's not your fault. Don't blame yourself."
Abigail added, "Yeah, Mom, I'll make more trips when I have time."
Michelle gently tapped Abigail's nose with a playful look, making her burst into laughter.
The three of them were truly enjoying their time together.
Henry's attention, however, was entirely on Tricia beside him. "Why did you suddenly come over? Finished your work?"
Tricia couldn't help but roll her eyes. "If you can't be nice, be quiet. I'm here on a business trip, not because I'm slacking off!"
Henry raised an eyebrow in confusion. "Business trip? How come I didn't know about this?"
Tricia scoffed, "There are plenty of things you don't know. If you don't believe me, you can call the company. Everyone there knows I'm on a business trip."
Henry, of course, wouldn't actually call to question it. He nodded with a smile. "Alright, since you're here, stay for a while. I'll have Quinn prepare a room for you."
Tricia's eyes lit up, but she asked, "Really? Won't it be too much trouble?"
Henry saw right through her and teased. "It is a bit of trouble. You knew that and still asked?"
Tricia's smile instantly vanished.
Henry burst into laughter. "Just kidding. Did you really believe that?"
Tricia glared at him, clenching her fists. "Henry, do you know how annoying you can be sometimes? No wonder you still don't have a girlfriend!"
Hearing this, Henry's smile faded. Why didn't he have a girlfriend? Didn't she know? Everyone at the company saw how he treated her, but she still thought it was just for Abigail. Did Tricia have a heart of stone? It drove him crazy!
Quinn and Gregory watched their interaction, exchanged a glance, and smiled helplessly.
Henry was as childish as ever.
No wonder he didn't have a girlfriend!
After dinner, Michelle chatted with Abigail and Tricia, while Caius discussed business with the younger men. The more Caius spoke with Gregory, the more impressed he became. Despite his initial displeasure over Gregory marrying Abigail without his knowledge, he had to acknowledge Gregory's sharp business acumen and forward-thinking insights.
Caius foresaw the White Group thriving under Gregory's influence. Unlike the many young playboys Caius had encountered, Gregory was a rare gem.
Gradually, Caius's dissatisfaction with Gregory faded, though a trace of sadness remained. Had he known Abigail was his daughter earlier, he would have made her the happiest princess in the world.
But some things, once they happen, can't be undone.
He sighed deeply and advised, "Take good care of her. Otherwise, not just me, but the entire Worthington family won't let you off easily."
Gregory nodded firmly, his tone serious. "I will."
Abigail was his cherished and beloved person. Even without Caius's warning, he would give everything to love her.
As night fell, a sleepy Abigail leaned on Michelle's shoulder and drifted off. Michelle's familiar, soothing fragrance brought comfort. She chuckled softly, brushed Abigail's hair aside, and felt a wave of tenderness.
Seeing this, Caius quickly said their goodbyes and left with Michelle.
After seeing Michelle and Caius off, Gregory picked up Abigail. She blinked in her sleep and snuggled into his arms. Gregory chuckled and carried her upstairs.
Quinn instructed the servants to prepare a room for Tricia, conveniently right across from Henry's room.
Henry was very pleased with this arrangement and patted Quinn's shoulder in thanks.
Quinn dodged his hand in disdain and reminded him, "If you really like her, pursue her openly. You'll never win her over like this."
Henry awkwardly touched his nose, his smile a bit bitter. "You think I don't want to? Tricia has someone else in her heart. If I pursue her now, there'll be no chance at all."
Quinn shook his head, said nothing more, and left.
Henry sighed deeply and went back to his room.
The next morning, Henry went with Gregory to the Frost family, while Quinn went to the Worthington family to get something.
Tricia quietly approached Abigail, lowering her voice as if afraid of being overheard. "Abigail, let's go out and have some fun!"
"Sure, where to?"
"I heard there's a nice bar nearby. How about we go there?"
Abigail quickly shook her head. "No way. We're both pregnant. We can't drink or dance. What's the point of going there?"
Tricia gave her a sideways glance and laughed. "We can't dance, but we can watch others dance!"
Abigail shook her head again. "I'm not going. It's crowded there. What if we accidentally get bumped and hurt?"
Good point.
Tricia scratched her head and immediately gave up the idea.
"How about we go shopping? I heard Aerilon has many fun places. We can check them all out."
"Okay, let me change my clothes first."
Abigail changed into a red spaghetti strap dress with a shawl over it, looking elegant yet sexy. Her long hair flowed over her shoulders, exuding an indescribable allure.
Tricia wore a black short dress, looking stunning and vibrant.
Walking down the street, they were a beautiful sight, attracting many admiring glances from passersby.
Some even mistook them for celebrities and took out their phones to snap pictures.
They first went to a plaza and bought a lot of clothes and bags.
Tricia, looking at the dazzling array of goods, was thrilled. "These are so beautiful, Abigail. Help me choose. I can't decide!"
If only she had the money—she wanted them all!
Seeing her like this, Abigail knew she was about to make impulsive purchases and immediately pointed out the flaws in many items.
Anything that didn't match Tricia's style or had mediocre design was put back by the store clerk.
The remaining items were the best in terms of quality and style.
Tricia excitedly hugged Abigail and kissed her cheek. "Abigail, you're my treasure. Bringing you along was the best decision!"
Abigail, her face covered in kisses, smiled helplessly.
After paying, they left with their purchases, unaware that several men in the corner were watching their backs with heated, lecherous eyes.
