Chapter 277 Nightmare

After hanging up the phone, Abigail focused on handling the documents.

At that moment, there was a sudden knock on the door from outside. Lily walked in and said, "Ms. Martin, Ms. Fairchild from Zenith Innovations Group has scheduled a meeting with you. What do you think?"

Abigail raised an eyebrow slightly and asked, "When?"

Lily replied, "Tonight at the rooftop restaurant of Enchanted Grove Lodge. Are you going to attend?"

Abigail looked at Lily's slightly puffed cheeks and couldn't help but laugh. "From your tone, it seems like you have some opinions about Zenith Innovations Group?"

Lily remained silent. 'Is it that obvious?'

She raised her hand to touch her cheek and said angrily, "When our company was in trouble, Zenith Innovations Group immediately distanced themselves from us. Now that they see we are officially collaborating with the White Group, they come running back. Their intentions are clear as day."

Abigail nodded appreciatively. "Not bad. In just a few days, Lily, you can already see their ulterior motives."

Suddenly being praised, Lily's cheeks turned red, and she felt a bit embarrassed.

"Ms. Martin, please don't tease me. Isn't this quite obvious? If I couldn't see it, I wouldn't deserve the high position you gave me!" Lily said.

Lily knew she wasn't very smart, and it was her luck that Abigail was willing to trust her.

So, she had no way to repay her but to think more for Abigail wholeheartedly.

Abigail propped her chin with one hand, her smile undiminished. "I wasn't wrong, was I? You're getting smarter and smarter. Keep it up!"

Encouraged by Abigail, Lily instantly felt a surge of confidence. She straightened her chest and said seriously, "Don't worry, Ms. Martin, I will definitely work hard!"

After saying that, she left the office in a daze.

It took her a long time to realize what she had come to the office for. How could she forget the main task? She hadn't even asked Abigail if she would attend the meeting!

It was all Abigail's fault for being so good-looking and speaking so gently, making her so focused on admiring her beauty that she forgot everything else.

She jogged back to the office and stood at the door for a full two minutes, taking deep breaths, feeling very nervous.

Abigail had just praised her, and she had made such a low-level mistake. Would she be fired?

She quietly pushed open the door and peeked through a narrow gap.

Hearing the noise, Abigail looked up and noticed a round little head at the door.

She chuckled. "Go tell Ms. Fairchild that I will attend the meeting tonight."

Although Zenith Innovations Group had done something wrong, they were still in the same circle and needed to maintain a good relationship.

Besides, Zenith Innovations Group was indeed a good partner.

Through this matter, she could gain more benefits from Zenith Innovations Group. Why not make good use of it?

This was what Gregory had taught her.

In the business world, there were no permanent enemies or friends, only interests.

Of course, the premise was not to lose one's principles or go against one's original intentions.

Before leaving work, Abigail sent Gregory a message, telling him about her plans for the evening and asking him not to pick her up.

Gregory replied: [It's okay. I'll work late tonight. Call me when you're done.]

Abigail felt helpless but agreed.

Because she knew that Gregory was always domineering in this regard and unfaltering in his decisions.

After turning off her phone, Abigail packed up briefly and headed to Enchanted Grove Lodge.

Guided by a waiter, she arrived at a private room on the hotel's rooftop.

Circe greeted Abigail proactively, "Ms. Martin, please have a seat."

"Ms. Fairchild, why did you ask me to come here?" Abigail asked.

A trace of guilt flashed across Circe's face, and she apologized, "Ms. Martin, when DM was in trouble recently, we didn't help immediately and even suspended our cooperation. I've always felt guilty about it."

Abigail smiled lightly. "Ms. Fairchild, this matter is in the past. Let's not bring it up again. I understand your actions. If the same thing happened to me, I might have made the same decision."

Seeing that Abigail wasn't holding a grudge, Circe breathed a sigh of relief and felt much more favorable toward her.

After dinner, Abigail said goodbye to Circe and called Gregory.

In less than five minutes, Gregory's car appeared at the hotel entrance.

Seeing Gregory get out of the car, Abigail immediately ran over and threw herself into his arms.

"Mr. White! I missed you so much!" Abigail said.

"I missed you too," Gregory said with a slight smile, pulling Abigail into his embrace.

He asked, "How did the talk with Circe go?"

Abigail replied honestly, "Ms. Fairchild came to apologize. I forgave her and secured an order for DM. Am I smart or what?"

Abigail looked up, her eyes sparkling as she gazed at Gregory, a mischievous glint in her eyes.

Gregory suddenly felt a pang of heartache.

He tightened his hold on Abigail, resting his forehead on her shoulder, and whispered, "Abigail, you have me as your support. Sometimes you can be a little more willful."

Abigail was just too good and too gentle.

If it were him, no matter how much benefit there was, he would never forgive so easily.

Abigail shook her head gently. "It's really not a big deal. I can understand why she did what she did."

Zenith Innovations Group was Circe's creation, like her child. No one wanted their child to be in trouble.

If it were her, she would have made the same decision.

Gregory sighed helplessly, took Abigail's hand, and got into the car. "I can't argue with you. But your happiness is the most important thing."

No matter what, he would protect her even more, so Abigail wouldn't be bullied like this again.

Abigail smiled as she got into the car and went home with Gregory.

That night, Abigail suddenly had a nightmare. She dreamt that David had come out of prison, acting like a madman, demanding that she release Jessica and Kayla.

David grabbed her by the neck, her face turning red as she struggled but couldn't break free.

In front of her was David's hideous and terrifying face, his curses and insults echoing in her ears.

"Abigail, you're just an illegitimate child! How dare you compete with Jessica?"

"Your mother only managed DM so well because she had improper relationships with those men! She's just a whore!"

"You're just like your mother, both of you are lowly and despicable. Why don't you just die?"

As he spoke, David's grip on Abigail's neck tightened.

Abigail gradually lost her strength, her breathing becoming labored, as if she was about to suffocate.

In that moment, countless memories flashed through Abigail's mind.

There were scenes of Michella teaching her to play the violin when she was young, Michella holding her hand and giving her advice before she passed away, and Gregory...

Every moment with Gregory felt incredibly happy and romantic.

Then, she suddenly heard Gregory's deep, worried voice, "Abigail, Abigail."

A feeling of weightlessness came over her, and Abigail suddenly opened her eyes, gasping for air.
