Chapter 281 Don't Blame Me for Being Rude to You

Henry felt like he had discovered a monumental secret and was in a daze for a long time.

He hadn't heard a sound from the other end of the phone for a while and inexplicably started to get nervous. "Gregory, are you okay?"

"Help me look into Elaine, as detailed as possible," Gregory instructed.

This matter, after so many years, still involved Michelle and was not suitable for public attention; it could only be investigated in secret.

Henry couldn't help but feel a bit distressed. It was all Quinn's fault; why did he have to leave at this critical moment?

He was always an honest person, but suddenly he was burdened with such a significant secret with no one to share it with.

Sighing silently, Henry replied, "Alright, Gregory, leave this matter to me."

Abigail was someone he had watched grow up, so he couldn't just stand by and watch her get hurt.

After hanging up the phone, Gregory raised his hand to pinch the bridge of his nose, feeling a bit tired.

At that moment, his phone suddenly rang. Seeing the caller ID, Gregory's eyes instantly softened.

He answered the call, his deep voice filled with extreme gentleness. "Abigail?"

"Mr. White, it's so late, why aren't you home yet? Did something happen?"

"No, I'm already on my way back. I'll be home soon."

"Okay, I'll wait for you at home."

Abigail's sweet voice, mixed with an indescribable softness, instantly lifted Gregory's heavy mood, and the gloom gradually dissipated.

His thin lips curved slightly, and a bright light flickered in his deep eyes. "Alright."

After hanging up the phone, Gregory called for a driver. He had been drinking and it wasn't suitable for him to drive.

By the time he got home, it was already past eleven at night. The lights in Maple Residence were all on, illuminating Gregory's lonely heart.

There was a time when he rarely returned to Maple Residence.

Sometimes, he would be so busy that he forgot the time and just stayed at the office overnight, continuing to work the next day.

This state lasted for many years until Abigail entered his world and moved in here, finally giving him a sense of belonging to this place.

"Mr. White, you're back?" Ralph walked out of the villa, interrupting Gregory's thoughts.

He collected himself and nodded slightly at Ralph. "Yes, has Mrs. White gone to bed?"

"No, she's sitting in the living room watching TV, saying she wants to wait for you to come back," Ralph replied with a smile.

A hint of a smile flashed in Gregory's eyes as he quickened his pace and walked inside.

Abigail was engrossed in watching TV. When she heard footsteps outside, her eyes instantly lit up.

She didn't even have time to put on her shoes and quickly ran to the door, throwing herself into Gregory's arms.

"Mr. White, you're finally back! I've been waiting for you for so long," said Abigail.

Gregory naturally wrapped Abigail in his arms, and with a slight exertion, he lifted her up entirely.

He said helplessly, "If I'm ever late again, you should go to bed first. You don't need to wait for me."

Abigail shook her head vigorously, her slender arms tightly wrapped around his neck, her almond eyes sparkling. "No, I want to wait for you to come back."

She had already gotten used to having Gregory by her side. Without sleeping in his arms, she couldn't fall asleep.

Hearing Abigail's unreserved words, Gregory couldn't help but feel a burst of joy.

His cold face melted like a glacier, revealing a warm and gentle smile as he carried Abigail back to the master bedroom.

Gregory hadn't even had time to take off his clothes before lying on the bed with Abigail in his arms.

Abigail's slender fingers gently brushed his brow as she asked in confusion, "Mr. White, are you unhappy tonight? Did something happen?"

A hint of surprise flashed in Gregory's eyes. "Why do you think that? Don't overthink it. I'm just a bit tired from work and went to see Stephen tonight."

"Stephen is back from abroad?" Abigail asked.

"Yes, we had a few drinks, so I came back late," Gregory said.

Abigail nodded and didn't ask any more questions.

Although Stephen was a senior she respected, the experience of breaking off the engagement still made things a bit awkward.

Moreover, Elaine didn't like her, and Olivia always targeted her, so she had recently been in less contact with Stephen.

Gregory lay on his side, one arm around Abigail's shoulder, holding her in his arms, and the other arm around her slender waist, his fingers playing with her blonde hair.

After a long time, he finally looked down at Abigail and tentatively asked, "I've already spoken to someone about David. His days ahead won't be easy, but Jessica is pregnant and won't be locked up for long. How do you plan to handle it?"

"As long as she behaves and doesn't cause trouble, I won't bother with her. But if she tries to provoke me, I won't hold back."

As Abigail spoke, she snuggled into Gregory's arms, found a comfortable position, and slowly closed her eyes.

Gregory stared at her for a long time, finally sighing helplessly.

Abigail was still too soft-hearted.

Someone as greedy and insatiable as Jessica would never know when to stop.

But it didn't matter; with him protecting her, he would never let Abigail be in any danger.

When Abigail woke up, it was already noon the next day. Gregory had turned off her alarm clock, letting her have a comfortable sleep.

The collaboration with the White Group and Zenith Innovations Group was almost finalized, and Abigail was very tired, not even knowing when Gregory had left.

She stretched lazily, washed up briefly, and went downstairs.

As soon as she reached the staircase, she heard a commotion downstairs.

"Let me in, I want to see Abigail!"

"Abigail, you bitch, come out! Come out!"

"You're brave enough to report Jessica to the police, but not brave enough to come out yourself, huh?"

The curses were incessant, mixed with Ralph and the servants' scolding.

Abigail quickly went downstairs and saw Kayla standing at the villa's entrance, trying to force her way in.

As soon as Kayla saw Abigail, she struggled even more fiercely.

She stared at Abigail with immense anger, as if she wanted to tear Abigail apart.

"Abigail, you finally dare to show your face? I advise you, if you know what's good for you, get Jessica out of the police station immediately, or don't blame me for being rude!"

"I'd like to see how you plan to be rude to me!" Abigail crossed her arms, lazily leaning against the door, her eyes calm and unflustered, exuding an air of composure.

In contrast, Kayla, after the earlier struggle and tussle, looked disheveled.

Her dress was wrinkled, and her meticulously styled hair was in disarray.

The face that was carefully made up now looked ferocious and angry, devoid of any grace.

Abigail's provocation was like adding fuel to the fire, igniting Kayla's anger.

She gritted her teeth, glaring venomously at Abigail, raising her arm high, ready to strike Abigail. "I'll kill you!"
