Chapter 440 It's Your Blessing to Be Favored

Abigail returned to the office and was surprised to find someone waiting for her.

Seeing who it was, she paused for a moment before asking, "What are you doing here?"

"What? Surprised to see me?" Mireille stood up from the couch, her smile bright.

Abigail's lips curved slightly as she nodded. "True. What brings you here?"

"Didn't I tell you before? It's more comfortable being here with you, so I figured I'd work here for a while after graduation," replied Mireille.

Abigail reached out and flicked her on the forehead, smiling helplessly. "Do you think this is hotel where you can drop by whenever you feel like it?"

Mireille glared at her. "I don't want it as well, but I had my graduation project to focus on. Now that I've got my diploma, I promise I'll be more serious. No more disappearing acts!"

Anyway, she didn't have any ties back home, and no one really cared about her there. She was pretty happy here.

Suddenly, Mireille's eyes clouded with sadness, as if she remembered something painful.

Abigail sighed. "Alright, you can stay. But let's be clear—I won't give you any special treatment. We have an international fashion competition coming up, so be prepared."

"No problem!" Mireille agreed eagerly.

Then, Mireille suddenly leaned in mysteriously, wrapping her arm around Abigail's. "Are you off work yet? Can we go get something to eat? I'm starving."

Abigail checked the time—it was only eleven, far from lunchtime, and as CEO, she couldn't just step out for a meal.

Abigail was about to refuse when she saw Mireille's lips quiver and tears well up in her eyes. She looked so pitiful that it was hard to say no.

"Why don't you care about me at all?" Mireille whimpered.

Abigail rubbed her forehead in exasperation and finally gave in. "Alright, alright, I'll go with you."

As soon as Abigail agreed, Mireille's tears vanished, and she brightened up immediately. "Really? Let's go then! I saw a few good restaurants on the way here."

Abigail couldn't help but twitch her lips at how quickly Mireille's expression changed. But, Mireille was her cousin. She had to spoil her!

Mireille led Abigail to the downtown shopping area, using a navigation app to find the restaurant. But after taking several wrong turns, they still couldn't locate it.

Finally, Mireille lost her temper and refused to move. "What kind of crappy place is this? We can't even find it!It really pisses me off!"

Abigail looked at her with a hint of helplessness, then found the restaurant's phone number and called them.

After some inquiries, they discovered the place was tucked away in a very obscure corner. But at least the restaurant was clean and the staff were friendly.

Abigail checked the menu to ensure there was nothing she or Mireille couldn't eat, then started ordering.

The waiter quickly took their order and left.

Abigail poured Mireille a cup of tea, looking at her pouting face with amusement. "Alright, calm down. Have some tea."

Mireille pouted, still upset. "If I had known it was this hidden, I wouldn't have come. We could've just gone somewhere else."

Abigail gently coaxed, "Let's give it a try. If the food is good, we can forgive it this once, okay?"

Her tone was as soothing as if she were comforting a child.

Mireille's cheeks flushed slightly, and she nodded while holding her face in her hands. "Alright, I'll give it another chance."

The food arrived quickly, but the person serving it was someone familiar.

Abigail looked at the woman in surprise. "Is it you?"

The woman looked up slowly at the sound of Abigail's voice. When she saw Abigail's face, she was momentarily stunned. "Ms. Martin?"

Maeve hadn't expected to see Abigail here. She suddenly felt a bit awkward and didn't know what to say, her expression becoming somewhat unnatural.

Abigail asked, "Weren't you working as a nanny for the Quinn family? Why are you here as a waitress?"

Maeve explained, "Mr. Worthington went to Aerilon recently, so there's not much to do at the house. I only need to go there once a day. I got bored, so I found a part-time job."

Abigail looked at her thoughtfully. "You should have graduated from college by now, right? Why didn't you find a stable job?"

Maeve's smile turned bitter. "My mom is sick. If I had a stable job, I couldn't take time off whenever I needed to. This works for now."

"I'm sorry for bringing up something painful," Abigail apologized.

Maeve shook her head and smiled. "It's okay. I like my life the way it is now. Enjoy your meal. I won't disturb you further."

With that, she quickly served the rest of the dishes and left.

Mireille, who had been silent for a while, glanced at Maeve's retreating figure and asked, "Who is she?"

Abigail answered, "Quinn family's nanny. She's a resilient girl."

Mireille nodded and soon forgot about it, focusing on her meal.

Despite the restaurant's hidden location and the trouble finding it, the food was indeed delicious.

Abigail enjoyed her meal too. Even though the chefs at home were top-notch, it was nice to try something different occasionally.

Abigail said, "Are you full? I'll go pay the bill."

Abigail was about to stand up when Mireille stopped her. "No need. I brought money this time. It's my treat."

She winked playfully at Abigail.

Abigail smiled and nodded.

Mireille happily took out her bank card and went to the counter to pay.

Abigail stayed behind, waiting for her.

After a while, she heard a commotion nearby.

"Sir, please don't do this. I'm just delivering food. There are cameras everywhere. I'll call the police."

"Call the police? Bitch, who do you think you are? You should be grateful I'm interested in you."

Abigail frowned and walked over, spotting Maeve in the corner, pale and struggling in the grip of a burly man.

The man yanked Maeve onto his lap. "You're pretty enough. Spend a night with me, and you can name your price."
