Chapter 296 A Sleepless Night

Gregory chuckled helplessly. "Must you say thank you to me?"

Abigail playfully stuck out her tongue. "Then I won't say it."

As she finished speaking, she stood on her tiptoes, wrapped her arms around Gregory's neck, and planted a kiss on the corner of his lips.

Her eyes sparkled brightly, staring unblinkingly at Gregory in front of her.

Meeting her clear eyes, Gregory felt his heart soften.

He reached out and wrapped his arms around Abigail's slender waist, pulling her body close to his, slowly lowering his head until their foreheads touched.

"One more kiss," Gregory said.

He was so close that his warm breath brushed against Abigail's cheeks as he spoke.

Abigail's face turned red, and she smiled as she turned away. "No!"

"Just one kiss?" Gregory leaned in closer, a faint smile in his deep eyes.

Abigail's eyes darted around, and then she quickly pecked Gregory on the lips. "Is that enough..."

Before she could finish her sentence, Gregory's lips sealed hers.

Gregory's cool, thin lips pressed against hers, deepening the kiss bit by bit.

Before Abigail could react, her teeth were pried open, and she was forced to endure his invasion.

When the kiss finally ended, her breathing was already erratic, and her legs were starting to go weak, unable to muster any strength.

If it weren't for the hand supporting her waist, she would have probably collapsed to the ground by now.

Abigail's eyes, misty with a layer of moisture, widened slightly as she glared angrily at Gregory.

But she didn't realize that this only made her look more endearing and charming, making Gregory's heart itch even more.

Gregory's Adam's apple bobbed slightly, and his gaze darkened a bit. He directly picked Abigail up and headed toward the bedroom.

Abigail barely slept all night, and it wasn't until dawn that Gregory finally let her go.

Her voice was hoarse, and she lay limp on the bed, not wanting to move at all.

Watching her shallow breathing, Gregory tenderly kissed her forehead and held her as he fell into a deep sleep.

When they woke up again, it was almost noon.

Abigail glanced at the time and hurriedly broke free from Gregory's embrace, climbing out of bed.

"Oh no, I'm going to be late for work. Why didn't the alarm go off?" Abigail asked.

Gregory opened his eyes, propping himself up on his arm to look at her, his eyes full of amusement. "What's the rush? Stay in bed a little longer."

"I have a client meeting tonight, and I need to prepare the materials in advance. Plus, I have to get ready for the fashion show. I'm busy!" Abigail glared at him angrily.

It was all his fault. She had told him to stop last night, and now she was late and her voice was hoarse.

Gregory chuckled and pulled Abigail into his arms, kissing her on the forehead. "My bad, I'll be more careful next time."

"Let's see how you behave." Abigail lifted her chin haughtily and quickly got up to wash up.

Lily was already waiting in the office. As soon as Abigail appeared, she immediately asked anxiously, "Ms. Martin, did everything go okay at the hospital yesterday? Why are you so late?"

Abigail shook her head lightly. "There were some issues, but everything is resolved now. No need to worry."

Lily breathed a sigh of relief. As long as everything was okay, that was all that mattered.

She had heard that Abigail went to see David yesterday, and Lily had been anxious all morning. Now she was finally at ease.

Abigail had no idea what was going through Lily's mind. She stared blankly at the thick stack of documents.

She had only been late to the office for a few hours, and the documents had piled up so much?

Headache!

"Lily, explain this to me," Abigail said.

"Ms. Martin, you forgot. Today is the day for each department to present their quarterly reports. Initially, they were supposed to report in person, but since you weren't here, I sent them back."

Abigail rubbed her temples vigorously, finally remembering. She waved her hand and said, "Alright, I got it. You can go now."

After Lily left, Abigail took a deep breath and started flipping through the documents.

As she signed, she silently complained, 'Being a CEO is really not easy.'

She wondered how Gregory managed such a large company. She was already exhausted managing DM.

Although she complained, she didn't dare to stop working. Even though it was tiring, the results were significant.

For example, last quarter's product sales hit a record high, and consumer satisfaction with the DM brand was also very high, reopening the market.

At this rate, DM's return to its peak was not a problem.

Seeing a large sum of money coming in, Abigail suddenly felt energized.

...

Hospital.

The doctor finished examining David and instructed Jessica to keep an eye on David's condition and contact him if there were any issues.

Jessica nodded in agreement. After the doctor left, she came to the bedside and asked worriedly, "Dad, how are you feeling?"

Seeing Jessica's concerned eyes, David's eyes suddenly reddened.

Sure enough, Jessica was the one who cared about him the most. He hadn't loved the wrong person!

"Dad is fine, Jessica. You're pregnant, you should go rest," David said.

He originally thought Jessica would insist on staying by his side, but to his surprise, Jessica nodded without hesitation and said she would go home to rest.

She left decisively and quickly.

David was stunned and suddenly felt a bit heartbroken. 'Is this really my obedient and sensible daughter? How has she changed so much?'

What he didn't know was that Jessica had long wanted to leave.

She had been in prison for so long and hadn't seen Roman in a while. She wondered if he missed her.

Thinking of Roman, Jessica was even more eager to go home.

However, when she got home, the maids stopped her at the door, their faces stern and their eyes filled with disdain and contempt.

Jessica looked at them in confusion. "What do you want?"

The maid said coldly, "Ms. Martin, Mrs. White has instructed that you are not welcome here. Please leave."

Jessica's eyes widened in shock, full of disbelief. "What are you saying? How is that possible! This is my home. You must be mistaken. Let me in."

Seeing her trying to force her way in, the two maids stood in her way with their arms crossed. "Ms. Martin, please don't make things difficult for us. Please leave!"

The maids looked at Jessica with disdain and contempt.

'How could someone who had been in prison be worthy of Roman?'

Before, they could understand her lack of intelligence because Roman liked her, and no one had the right to say anything. But now, she had almost completely ruined the White family's reputation.

During this time, Elaine didn't dare to go out or meet with the wealthy ladies, fearing gossip.

All of this was Jessica's fault!

How dare she show up? Shameless!

Jessica couldn't believe Roman would abandon her like this. She gritted her teeth and tried to force her way in.

However, as a frail pregnant woman, she couldn't compete with the maids who did physical labor regularly. She was pushed back, almost falling to the ground.

Jessica shouted, "Who gave you the right? I am your Mrs. White!"

The maid sneered, "Mrs. White? You must be joking. We don't have a Mrs. White."

The other maid added, "Well, we do have a future Mrs. White, but her last name is Thorne. What does that have to do with you?"

Jessica stood there in shock, dumbfounded.

'Future Mrs. White? Last name Thorne? What does that mean?'

Had Roman been dating someone else while she was in jail?
