Chapter 181 A Close Encounter with an Old Foe

Gregory and Abigail held hands, looking like they were made for each other.

With their stunning looks, they stood out in the crowd, grabbing everyone's attention right away.

The store clerk had been waiting forever for Jessica to pay and was starting to get a bit impatient.

Just then, seeing Gregory and Abigail in elegant clothes, the clerk perked up and greeted them warmly, "Welcome! Sir, ma'am, come on in and check out our latest fashion collections. They'd be perfect for you."

Gregory turned to Abigail, his deep eyes full of tenderness. "Wanna look around?"

"Sure," Abigail said.

After not seeing Gregory all day, all she wanted was to be with him. As long as she was by his side, it didn't matter what they did.

Gregory held her hand and led her to the women's section, quickly spotting a white dress.

He asked the clerk to take it down and held it up in front of Abigail. "Wanna try it on?"

Abigail glanced at the dress. It had a simple design, but the chest and waist had some unique touches, making it look both distinctive and fresh.

She liked it right away.

She nodded and handed over her bag. "Hold this for me. I'll go try it on."

Gregory naturally took her crossbody bag. While she was trying on the dress, he wandered around and picked out two more dresses of different styles.

Meanwhile, Jessica was hiding on the side, watching with wide eyes.

She didn't know how to describe the shock she felt seeing this scene.

She had always thought that even if Abigail married Gregory, Gregory wouldn't truly like her.

After all, he is the CEO of the White Group and also the head of the White family, possessing not only handsome looks and a perfect physique but also unparalleled wealth.

Such an outstanding man, who could only be admired from afar and not easily approached, should be cold and unapproachable.

Even if he married Abigail, he might not truly give his heart.

But what did she see?

Gregory not only held hands with Abigail while shopping but also thoughtfully carried her bag and picked out clothes for her.

Even Roman, who once loved her so much and was willing to break off his engagement with Abigail for her, had never been so gentle and considerate while shopping with her.

Perhaps her resentment was too deep, as Gregory, who was picking out clothes, sensed it and paused slightly.

Gregory turned around, his cold, deep eyes shooting straight in Jessica's direction.

Suddenly meeting those hostile eyes, Jessica was startled and took a few steps back in fear.

Seeing Jessica's face, Gregory couldn't help but frown. "What are you doing here?"

Jessica nervously swallowed and forced a faint smile, walking up to him. "Gregory, what a coincidence! You're shopping here too?"

"Yeah," Gregory replied coldly, then ignored her and continued to focus on picking out clothes.

Seeing this, Jessica bit her lip and continued to speak proactively, "Gregory, you're so good to Abigail. Not only do you accompany her shopping, but you also pick out clothes for her."

Without looking up, Gregory responded indifferently, "Isn't that what a husband should do?"

This sentence was like a sharp blade, stabbing deeply into Jessica's heart.

Jessica immediately thought of how she not only shopped alone but also couldn't reach Roman by phone, and her heart was filled with an uncontrollable sense of grievance.

"Gregory, that's not what I meant. I just think you're really good to Abigail. She's so lucky to have met such a good man like you." As she spoke, she flicked her hair, her eyes sparkling as she glanced at Gregory. Jessica's most proud feature was her appearance.

Although not drop-dead gorgeous, her eyes were full of emotion. She looked at people with a misty gaze that seemed to hold deep affection.

Any normal guy standing here would be drawn in by her charm.

But Gregory's reaction was totally unexpected.

Faced with her deliberate probing, Gregory not only didn't react but frowned and disapproved, saying, "You're wrong. Marrying such a good wife like Abigail is my greatest fortune."

After saying that, he turned and walked toward the fitting room, asking, "Abigail, are you done?"

His voice was low and gentle, with an indescribable sexy magnetism.

"Almost!" Abigail's voice came from inside, and then the fitting room door was pushed open from the inside.

Abigail came out in the dress, twirling in front of Gregory. "How is it? Does it look good?"

She looked at Gregory with anticipation, waiting for his answer.

Gregory smiled and pretended to be surprised. "Who is this lady? So beautiful!"

Abigail was amused by him and playfully glared at him. "Keep your voice down. It's so embarrassing."

There were many people shopping in the store, and she didn't want to be the center of attention.

Gregory took a step forward, wrapped his arm around her slender waist, and kissed her on the lips. "How could it be embarrassing? They would only think I'm right."

Hearing his unabashed praise, Abigail blushed slightly and looked at the other two dresses in his hand. "Are these for me too? I'll go try them on."

With that, she took the dresses and went back into the fitting room.

Jessica, who had been watching from the side, was almost furious!

Abigail actually dared to ignore her! It was simply too infuriating!

At this moment, the store clerk suddenly walked over and tentatively said to Jessica, "Ma'am, if you don't pay soon, we'll have to put the clothes you picked back."

Feeling the gazes from the people around her, Jessica's face stiffened, and she angrily said, "What's the rush? I'm not done picking yet!"

The clerk hesitated for a moment but didn't say anything more.

After all, she was a customer, and they couldn't be too harsh.

After the clerk left, Jessica let out a heavy sigh of relief and quickly took out her phone to search her contacts.

She called Kayla for help. "Mom, can you transfer me some money? I'm buying clothes."

Kayla frowned and asked in confusion, "Don't you have Roman's credit card? Why are you asking me for money?"

Mentioning this made Jessica even angrier. "Don't bring it up. I maxed out his card, and now I'm broke. I don't know what to do."

Kayla took a deep breath, suppressing her anger. "Why are you shopping if you have no money? Your father is in trouble, and I need to save this money to help him at the police station."

Jessica urged, "Mom, just lend me a little. There are so many people watching. If word gets out that I can't pay, it will only bring shame to Dad."

In the end, Kayla was persuaded and transferred some money to her.

But it still wasn't enough, as Jessica had picked the most expensive items, with each piece costing hundreds of thousands of dollars.

But she couldn't bear to return any of them. Under the clerk's urging, she reluctantly walked over to Gregory. "Gregory, can you lend me some money?"
