Chapter 378 He Is More Important
After breakfast, Gregory brought the luggage downstairs, ready to leave with Abigail.
Henry and Tricia followed. With her project done and Abigail leaving, Tricia had no reason to stay.
Quinn had some matters to handle here and would return a few days later.
Abigail held onto Michelle, unwilling to let go, her eyes red and looking extremely aggrieved.
Michelle also felt reluctant but still coaxed softly, "Abigail, if you really don't have time, I'll come visit you in a while."
Abigail suddenly lifted her head from Michelle's embrace. "No need, Mom. Your health isn't good. Stay well in Aerilon. I'll go first."
After saying that, afraid Michelle might notice something, she quickly waved and got into the car.
Michelle was puzzled and turned to look at Caius, only to see him avoiding her gaze, unsure if it was intentional or not. "Are you hiding something from me?"
This feeling wasn't new. She had sensed it before but dismissed it during her first meeting with Abigail in Aerilon. Now, seeing their reactions, it was clear they were hiding something.
Seeing her suspicion, Caius quickly pledged his loyalty. "How could that be, Michelle? We've been together for so many years. When have I ever deceived you? Don't overthink it. Abigail doesn't want you to go to Aramore because she's worried about you traveling. If your health worsens after all the hassle, she would feel terribly guilty."
Michelle pondered for a moment, thinking he made sense, and stopped dwelling on it.
On the other side, since returning to Aramore, Abigail had been in low spirits, managing company affairs with a serious, almost expressionless demeanor. Employees were afraid to even breathe loudly, fearing they might anger Ms. Martin.
After work that day, Gregory came to pick up Abigail. Seeing her in a bad mood, he softly suggested, "A new Japanese restaurant just opened. Want to try it?"
Abigail leaned listlessly against the passenger seat and said, "Not interested, no appetite."
Gregory leaned over, one hand on the car window and the other on the seat, trapping her in his arms. "Missing Mom?"
Abigail nodded heavily. "I miss her a lot."
Her mother's embrace was warm and soft. When held by her mother, Abigail felt like the happiest person in the world.
Seeing Abigail's sorrowful look, Gregory felt a bit jealous. "Do you like her that much? What about me? Who do you like more?"
Abigail immediately knew he was jealous, her eyes rolled, and she responded seriously, "Mom is family, and you are both my lover and family. Both are very important."
Gregory smiled, content with the answer. Knowing he had more roles than Michelle, his jealousy disappeared.
He slowly lowered his head and kissed Abigail on the lips. "Barely passed."
Abigail's eyes curved with a smile. "Gregory, let's go eat. I'm hungry!"
"Okay."
The two went to the restaurant and were led to a private room on the second floor by the waiter.
When the elevator doors opened, they saw Kayla. In her forties, she wore designer clothes that flattered her figure. Beside her stood a bloated, thinning-haired man in his fifties or sixties, dressed in a gray suit. Despite their father-daughter appearance, their intimate gestures told a different story.
Abigail and Gregory exchanged a glance, curiosity flashing in their eyes. "Is David being cheated on by Kayla again?"
Gregory nodded. "Seems like it."
Abigail snorted, her tone filled with schadenfreude. "Serves him right. It's karma for how they treated my mother."
Thinking of the grievances and harm her mother suffered, Abigail wished she could kill the two of them.
"Want to embarrass them? That's easy."
Seeing the eagerness in Abigail's eyes, Gregory couldn't help but laugh. "In three days, David will definitely get the news. Just wait."
Abigail's eyes lit up, even more eager.
Three days later, David received an envelope filled with photos of Kayla being intimate with various men over the past few days.
There were photos not only in hotels but even in public places.
Kayla had always been open in this regard. David was initially infatuated with her because of this.
Kayla was skilled in pleasing men and very bold. As long as he wanted, she would cooperate regardless of the occasion.
This greatly satisfied his male pride.
So every time he went out, he liked to bring Kayla along.
Seeing his woman with different men, David clenched his fists in anger. The monitoring equipment beeped as his chest heaved, nearly causing him to faint from rage.
Doctors and nurses rushed in upon hearing the commotion to check on him.
Before David passed out, he had one thought: Thank goodness these photos weren't leaked, or his reputation would be ruined.
However, when he woke up the next day, Kayla suddenly appeared by his bedside, crying incessantly.
Seeing David awake, Kayla quickly grabbed his hand, crying softly. "David, you have to help me. My reputation is ruined."
David, having been unconscious for too long and without water, had dry lips and a severely hoarse throat.
He withdrew his hand in disgust and asked hoarsely, "You still know you have a reputation?"
Facing his disdainful gaze, Kayla's shoulders trembled, feeling aggrieved. "I didn't do it on purpose. You were hospitalized and couldn't satisfy me. I have needs too. I don't know which bastard posted the photos online. Now my reputation is ruined, David, you have to help me!"
"What did you say?"
He thouoght, 'Posted online? Doesn't that mean everyone knows am I being cheated on?'
David fainted again in anger.
