Chapter 180 Forcing Through

News about Abigail becoming the new president of DM spread like wildfire through Aramore.

Before long, Abigail was the talk of the town.

Some folks thought she was truly exceptional.Being the president at such a young age, she might just turn things around for DM.

But most people were doubtful, figuring there was no way someone like Abigail could run a company.

And seriously, she even sent her dad to the police.

Rumors were flying everywhere, and Jessica caught wind of it the next morning.

After getting back from Maple Residence last night, Roman had a massive blowout with her.

Elaine also tore into her, calling her useless and a troublemaker, saying she wasn't fit to be part of the White family or to be with Roman.

Jessica was livid.

Since marrying Roman, she'd always been the good wife, trying to win Elaine over.

Lately, Elaine had been warming up to her, but when she found out Jessica had botched the plan to frame Abigail and got herself fired, Elaine turned cold again.

She even told Jessica to stay home and not show her face.

Jessica cried her eyes out in her room last night, but instead of comforting her like he used to, Roman just got annoyed and left, not coming back all night.

In the morning, after calming down and getting ready to call Roman to apologize, she checked her phone and saw the news alert.

She was fuming!

Why did Abigail get to take over the company?

It should've been hers!

David had promised that when he retired, he'd hand DM over to her!

Abigail had stolen what was rightfully hers!

The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. She skipped breakfast, threw on some clothes, and rushed to the DM building.

The security guard recognized her and stopped her right away. "Ms. Jessica Martin, you can't go in."

Already pissed off, Jessica lost it. "How dare you stop me?"

"Sorry, Ms. Abigail Martin specifically said no unauthorized personnel are allowed inside."

Jessica's rage hit the roof, and she pointed at the guard, yelling, "I'm Jessica Martin, the future heir of DM. You better let me in!"

The guard didn't budge and even smirked, "Ms. Jessica Martin, are you out of your mind? DM was founded by Ms. Abigail Martin's mom, and the shares were left to her. How do you still think it's yours?"

Jessica was speechless, and as more people started gathering around, she stomped her foot in frustration. "Are you gonna let me in or not?"

"Nope!" The guard, who was in his fifties and had been with DM for over twenty years, had a soft spot for Michelle.

Seeing Abigail take over made him happier than anyone, so there was no way he'd let anyone cause trouble.

Seeing she couldn't get in, Jessica stormed off.

She told the driver to take her to Kayla's place.

Since David's arrest, Kayla had aged noticeably.

When Jessica showed up, Kayla's eyes got all teary, and she grabbed Jessica's hand, saying, "Jessica, David must be having a rough time in there. Let's go see him."

Jessica said, "Mom, don't stress. We don't even know if Dad really did anything wrong. Maybe Abigail set him up!"

Kayla didn't say anything, knowing the truth better than Jessica did.

David had done way more than just dodge taxes over the years.

She squeezed Jessica's hand and suggested, "Jessica, why don't you ask Roman for help? He's from the White family; he must have some pull."

Jessica hesitated, thinking about how cold Roman had been lately, and her eyes welled up too.

"Mom, it's not that I don't want to. Roman won't even talk to me now. It's like he's a different person since we got married."

Kayla's face darkened, and she couldn't help but scoff, "Men are all the same. Once they get what they want, they stop caring."

Jessica threw herself into her mom's arms, sobbing softly. "Mom, what do we do now? Dad's gone, and Abigail's taken over the company. Are we just gonna let this happen?"

Kayla gritted her teeth, her eyes filled with anger and spite.

She'd put up with being called a mistress for years just to stay with David. How could she give up now?

"Everything Abigail has should be mine. Mom, you have to get it back for me!" Jessica clung to Kayla's hand, crying and begging.

Kayla patted her back, trying to calm her down. "Don't worry, Abigail won't be on top for long."

Jessica's eyes lit up. "Mom, do you have a plan?"

Kayla smirked and motioned for Jessica to come closer.

Jessica leaned in, and as she listened to Kayla's whispered plan, her eyes brightened. "Mom, you always know what to do!"

"Of course, why do you think I've been the only one by your father's side all these years?"

With Kayla's reassurance, Jessica felt a lot better and was in a much better mood on her way back.

Passing by a mall, Jessica asked the driver to stop so she could do some shopping.

She started charging everything she wanted to her card.

After just two stores, her card got maxed out.

When the clerk told her, Jessica thought she misheard. "How is that possible? I haven't spent that much. Are you sure there's no mistake?"

The clerk shook her head, keeping a polite smile. "We've tried, and there's no money left on the card. Do you have another card?"

Jessica took a deep breath and took the card back.

She didn't have any other cards.

This card was Roman's, and she didn't have a job. Her dad was in jail.

She couldn't even find anyone to borrow money from now.

But she felt too embarrassed to just leave, so she told the clerk, "Wait a moment, I'll make a call."

"Sure, take your time," the clerk replied.

Jessica walked to a corner and pulled out her phone to call Roman, but he didn't pick up.

Turning around, she noticed the clerk watching her closely, like she might run off.

Jessica had never been so humiliated and started crying right there.

Just when she didn't know what to do, she suddenly saw Abigail and Gregory walking in, hand in hand.
