Chapter 273 Offering Strategies
Henry suddenly leaned in and asked, "Gregory, do you have a lot of experience in this area? Help me think of something!"
Although he wasn't very good at pursuing people, he could sense that Tricia didn't like him at all.
She even seemed a bit disdainful.
There was no progress in their interactions.
If this continued, he figured he would never win Tricia over in this lifetime!
Thinking this, Henry suddenly felt a sense of urgency and looked at Gregory with even more anticipation.
It was the first time Gregory had been stared at so eagerly by someone, and he instinctively took a step back.
He cleared his throat and said calmly, "Actually, I'm not very good at it either."
Henry looked incredulous. "No way! It can't be that Abigail just fell for you on her own, right?"
Gregory pondered for a moment and shook his head. "Not exactly, but at the time, I just found an excuse and brought Abigail home."
To him, it was sheer luck. Abigail had just gone through a betrayal and was emotionally and physically exhausted, not realizing he was manipulating her.
"And then, she just cluelessly went home with you?" Henry looked incredulous. Although he knew Abigail was simple-minded, he never thought she could be so easily lured home by Gregory!
He glanced at Gregory, feeling a bit speechless.
His gaze at Gregory became more ambiguous.
Gregory looked up, his voice clear and low. "What kind of look is that?"
Henry snorted, "I'm just thinking, if Michelle knew her beloved daughter was so easily taken away by you, she'd be furious!"
He put himself in her shoes. If he had a daughter in the future, raised her with love, and she was taken away by a man with bad intentions, he'd be furious!
Just thinking about it, Henry felt he couldn't accept it.
He clutched his chest, looking at Gregory with an accusatory expression, as if he were looking at a douchebag who lured innocent girls.
Gregory fell silent.
Gregory laughed in exasperation. "Do you still want my help or not?"
Hearing this, Henry's principles instantly vanished, and he quickly put on a flattering smile. "Yes! Tell me, I'm listening!"
Gregory gave him a faint glance and gestured for him to come closer.
Meanwhile, Abigail received a call from the police station.
"Ms. Martin, this is the Aramore Police Department. A prisoner wants to see you."
Abigail was slightly stunned and asked in confusion, "Is it Susan or Jessica?"
The person on the other end was silent for a moment before speaking, "Neither. It's David."
Abigail's eyes widened in surprise, finding it hard to believe.
David wanted to see her?
Memories she had long forgotten came flooding back, like rising tides, almost overwhelming her.
Abigail took a deep breath, suppressing all those chaotic emotions and memories.
"Sorry, please tell him I don't want to see him," she replied.
There was nothing to talk about between her and David.
From the moment she returned to the Martin family, she had no intention of having any further dealings with David.
The officer's tone was a bit troubled. "Ms. Martin, Mr. Martin insists on seeing you. He's been causing a commotion all morning and seems to have something important to discuss with you."
Although they were strict with criminals, they would never deprive them of the right to contact family members.
Abigail pondered for a while before slowly speaking, "Fine, tell David I'll come by this afternoon."
She wanted to see what David was up to.
After hanging up, Abigail specifically asked Lily to push her afternoon schedule back and then headed to the police station.
After explaining her purpose, a female officer led Abigail to where David was being held.
Abigail waited in the meeting room for a while before hearing footsteps outside the door.
She looked up and saw David, whom she hadn't seen in a long time, appear before her.
He had changed a lot, much thinner than before, and his hair was now cropped short.
But his overall spirit was much better than before. His gaze at Abigail, though cold, was less hostile than before.
As she sized up David, David was also sizing her up.
At first glance, David didn't dare to recognize her.
In the short two months he had been in prison, he had rarely thought of Abigail.
In his memory, she was still small and weak, though pretty, but with a dull personality.
But the Abigail before him was radiant, dressed in a sophisticated business suit, her golden hair cascading over her shoulders, exuding an indescribable competence.
David and Abigail stared at each other, neither speaking first.
David opened his mouth, wanting to say many things, but at this moment, he couldn't get any words out.
It was Abigail who first came to her senses, frowning slightly. "Meeting time is limited. Are you sure you want to waste it like this?"
She didn't believe David had called her here just to look at her.
David, reminded by her, finally remembered the purpose of this meeting.
"Abigail, I heard you sent Jessica to the police station?" he asked.
Abigail raised an eyebrow slightly and smiled. "I didn't expect Mr. Martin to be so well-informed even in prison. Your connections are really impressive."
Seeing the mocking expression on Abigail's face, David pressed his lips together. "Jessica is your sister. It's one thing to ruin me, but why did you have to do that to her?"
Although Jessica was an illegitimate child, he had always doted on her since birth, never letting her suffer any grievances.
After spending two months in the police station, he knew better than anyone how terrible it was there.
Jessica, pampered and spoiled, couldn't possibly endure such hardship.
So upon hearing the news, he couldn't stand it any longer, causing a commotion and demanding to see Abigail.
Abigail sneered. "David, should I call you heartless or a loving father?"
Both were daughters, yet the difference was like night and day.
Just because she was Michelle's daughter, she was destined to never receive David's love from birth.
But did David forget that he rose from poverty to become the chairman of DM Group all thanks to Michelle?
Without Michelle, he was nothing!
What right did he have to despise and reject Abigail?
David couldn't lift his head, his expression stiff.
"Abigail, I know I've wronged you, but haven't I already been punished? Can't you let go of the past? Besides, Jessica is your sister. How can you be so ruthless?"
