Chapter 140 Aftermath

Upon hearing that, Abigail finally sat back in the car.

She looked at Henry and said solemnly, "Go ahead, tell me honestly, what exactly is going on?"

Henry's eyes flickered, and he didn't dare to look her in the eye. He muttered, "Actually, Gregory has had psychological issues for a long time, a lingering effect of being kidnapped as a child."

This sentence was like a thunderclap, exploding fiercely in Abigail's heart.

She sat there in shock, her mind blank for a long time.

Noticing her expression, Henry quickly reassured her, "But don't worry, Abigail, his condition has almost been cured. I just thought his earlier state resembled the flare-ups he used to have."

Abigail pressed her lips tightly together and didn't speak for a long time.

The more she acted like this, the more scared Henry became.

Could he have caused some big trouble?

At that time, Gregory had been kidnapped and, after being rescued with severe injuries, had been in a coma for an extended period.

Upon waking, his personality had become more withdrawn, and he occasionally experienced episodes of losing his sanity.

Quinn had examined him and found that his symptoms were similar to manic episodes but not entirely the same.

To this day, there was no definitive conclusion.

This was also why, despite Gregory's strong possessiveness and deep care for Abigail, he had chosen to give his blessing silently rather than snatch her away when he learned of her engagement to Roman.

Henry was afraid she would develop a bias against Gregory because of this and continued to explain, "Abigail, Gregory's condition has long been cured. It's probably something Olivia did that triggered him. I believe he would never hurt you."

Abigail's eyes reddened, and she tried hard not to let her tears fall.

She gently shook her head and said, "I know. Take me to him."

How could she be afraid of Gregory? She just felt heartbroken.

She had heard about Gregory being kidnapped as a child, but no one in the White family would easily bring it up.

Thus. she didn't know much about it.

But she didn't have the energy to think about it now. Her only thought was to see Gregory as soon as possible.

Seeing that she didn't show any sign of disgust or fear, Henry finally breathed a sigh of relief.

He directly called Quinn and asked if Gregory was with him.

Quinn didn't answer.

Henry immediately understood and told Quinn, "I'll be right over."

After hanging up, Henry quickly started the engine and took Abigail to Quinn's residence.

...

Quinn lived in a villa area situated halfway up a hill, requiring more than thirty minutes to reach by car.

As soon as the car stopped, Abigail immediately opened the door and got out.

Led by a servant, they walked inside.

Quinn's villa was large but simply decorated, lacking even basic furnishings, making it look empty and uninhabited.

It was spacious and cold.

The servant directly led them to a room on the second floor, which was Quinn's bedroom.

Henry looked puzzled and asked, "Shouldn't we go to the treatment room? Why are we being brought here?"

The servant smiled and replied, "Mr. Clark, this is Mr. Worthington's order. I'm just following instructions."

Henry knew Quinn always had his reasons for doing things, so he didn't ask further and directly led Abigail inside.

But the room was empty, with no sign of Quinn.

Only the sound of water faintly came from the bathroom, as if someone was taking a shower.

Henry cursed and told Abigail to step out first.

Abigail felt a bit embarrassed and turned to leave.

At that moment, the bathroom door was suddenly pulled open from the inside, and Quinn walked out, fully dressed, not looking like he had taken a shower at all.

The answer was clear: Gregory was inside.

Abigail asked in confusion, "Quinn, is Mr. White here with you? Is he okay?"

Quinn glanced at her, gently pushed his glasses up his nose, and said, "He's inside, but I don't recommend you go in now. He's been drugged."

"What?" Abigail's widened in disbelief, and the image of Gregory at the hotel suddenly flashed in her mind.

So Gregory wasn't having a relapse; he was angry.

The message she had received had probably been sent by Olivia on purpose.

Abigail hurriedly asked, "Is there a way? Is Mr. White in a lot of pain now? I want to see him."

Quinn pondered for a moment and said, "I've already had the antidote sent over. It should arrive in about half an hour. I'll go get some ice to let him soak in a cold bath first."

He looked at Abigail with a complicated expression.

When Gregory came to him, the drug had already taken effect. Even though he was in great pain, he still held on.

Quinn had asked Gregory, "Why not let Abigail help? You just need a woman, and you won't have to suffer anymore."

Gregory had replied without hesitation, "Our first time should be when we both willingly want it. I don't want to wrong her."

Quinn had never been in love or loved anyone, so he didn't understand what Gregory was thinking.

But he didn't say anything, filled the bathtub with water, and left.

Gregory didn't allow Abigail to go in, so she could only stand outside the door, anxiously waiting.

Half an hour later, the person delivering the antidote finally arrived.

Quinn took the antidote and quickly entered the bathroom to give it to Gregory.

He instructed, "The drug Olivia gave you is not ordinary. It's very potent and long-lasting. Even after taking the antidote, it won't subside quickly. You should soak in the bath for a while longer."

Gregory weakly pulled out a smile. "Thank you."

Quinn looked at him, his face still expressionless. "No need, it's not entirely for you anyway."

Abigail and Henry waited outside the door, their eyes full of anxiety and worry.

Henry kept comforting Abigail, "Don't worry. Gregory will be fine. He's not afraid of bullets and bombs, let alone a little drug."

Abigail's eyes widened in surprise. "What? Bullets and bombs? When did that happen?"

Realizing he had let something slip again, Henry wished he could slap himself.

Feeling awkward, he explained, "That was a long time ago. We joined an international organization over a decade ago and underwent some basic physical training."

Abigail narrowed her eyes slightly, clearly not believing him.

How culd basic physical training involve bullets and bombs?

But since he didn't want to say, Abigail didn't want to force him.

After this incident, Abigail realized once again how little she knew about Gregory.

They were meant to spend their lives together, and it was crucial that they understood and were familiar with each other.

She silently made up her mind to start understanding Gregory seriously from today and try to get into his heart.
