Chapter 24 Disdain

The next afternoon, Ralph compiled a detailed report as per Gregory's request.

Abigail was surprised to see Ralph handing her a thick stack of files. "So much?"

"Yes. Roman and Jessica have been quite high-profile over the years, leaving behind a lot of evidence," Ralph replied.
Roman has never been reserved. Over the years, whether attending banquets or parties, he would always bring Jessica along. As a result, even though Jessica is just a bastard child, she can have a stable position in the Aramore elite circle. Plus, she is very good at disguising herself, appearing gentle and kind, and making friends in the circle.

Abigail took the files from her and quickly flipped through a few pages. Her eyes were soon drawn to a hospital diagnosis report. "Jessica had an abortion?"

She continued to read and discovered that over the years, Jessica had not only had one abortion but three. The first time was even when she was only 17!

Abigail stared blankly at the information in her hands, unable to speak in shock.

Seeing her pale face, Ralph thought she was scared and had to comfort her gently. "That age is a time of innocence, she didn't understand, but later Roman was indeed confused."

Although she didn't like Jessica, she understood how much harm an abortion could cause to a woman. And Roman, not content with one lesson, actually let Jessica have multiple abortions.

He made Jessica pregnant, but instead of taking up the responsibility of being a father, he let her choose abortion.

Although Jessica made the choice, Ralph couldn't imagine how the usually sensible Roman could do such a thing.

Abigail was also shocked and deeply moved by Jessica's ruthlessness toward herself.

Abigail couldn't understand. Although the Martin family was declining, they still could afford to take care of Jessica. Why did Jessica have to marry into a wealthy family, willingly hurting her own body and repeatedly having abortions to stay by Roman's side?

Was it for the so-called true love?

Abigail propped her chin up with one hand, her gaze fixed on the records of the abortions, lost in thought.

After a long time, she finally exhaled slowly and looked up at Ralph. "Ralph, I have some chat records here. Help me print them out."

As she spoke, she took out her phone and sent Ralph the screenshots of her pre-prepared conversations with Roman.

Ralph could only hear the constant notification sound of WhatsApp on the phone. When he opened it and saw the content of the chat records, any remaining sympathy he had for Roman and Jessica completely vanished.

No matter what kind of ending Roman and Jessica would eventually have, it was their own choice.

From beginning to end, Abigail was innocent.

They built their happiness upon Abigail's pain. Now, it was all just retribution.

They didn't deserve any sympathy at all!
Ralph only lost control of his emotions for a moment before quickly regaining his composure. "Okay, I'll go print them right away."

With his phone in hand, he walked towards the study upstairs.

Ten minutes later, Ralph came back downstairs holding a thick stack of papers, which he handed to Abigail. "Mrs. White, please check to see if anything is missing."

Abigail took the stack of papers without even looking at them and put them directly into her bag. "No need to check. I trust you to get things done."

Ralph was surprised by Abigail's high praise and felt very happy.

No wonder Grace likes Abigail so much. Abigail is kind and obedient. Who wouldn't want her?

Just then, there was a steady sound of footsteps outside the door.

Abigail looked up and saw Gregory walking in calmly, with a gentle look in his eyes.

As she looked up, their eyes met, and she happily smiled. "Mr. White, you're back? Why did you finish work so early today?"

Gregory walked up to her and smiled slightly. "The company wasn't busy today, so I came back early."

"Mr. White, are you thirsty? Let me get you a glass of water."

Abigail stood up from the sofa and started walking towards the kitchen.

But as she took a few steps, a warm and firm hand grabbed her wrist. "No need. I'm not thirsty," she said.

Abigail felt a slight burning sensation on her wrist, so she quickly pulled her hand back. Her cheeks turned a light shade of pink.

Seeing his hand being left empty, Gregory regretfully withdrew it and looked at the messy desk in confusion. "What are you guys doing?"

Ralph immediately explained, "Mr. White, I have printed out all the documents you asked me to investigate. They're all here."

Gregory nodded and opened the bag to take a look, appearing very angry.

Ralph could clearly feel the cold air emanating from Gregory.

He shivered and tentatively asked, "When are you planning to go to the White Manor?"

Abigail immediately turned to look at him with anticipation in her beautiful eyes.

Gregory glanced at his wristwatch and stood up. "Right now. I happen to have some time today."

Abigail immediately excitedly stood up and walked quickly towards the upstairs. "Mr. White, wait for me for ten minutes. I'll go change and come down."

"No rush, take your time." Gregory watched her hurriedly leave.

Although he hadn't interacted with girls before, Henry was a romantic person who women always surrounded.

Henry had complained more than once that his girlfriend took an hour to get ready every time they went out.
