Chapter 394 Teaching David a Lesson

Caius almost dropped the water cup in his hand, staring blankly for a full three seconds before coming to his senses. "What did you say?"

Abigail knew how surprising this news was and patiently replied, "David called me today, asking if I knew that Michelle isn't actually dead."

Caius was silent for a long time, took a deep breath, and his voice quickly calmed down. "Don't worry about this, I'll handle it."

Hearing this, Abigail suddenly felt a surge of anger. "How long do you plan to keep this a secret? One lie requires countless others to cover it up."

Caius stayed silent, unwilling to reveal the truth. If exposed, Michelle would surely leave him. He couldn't risk it.

Abigail exhaled slowly, feeling a bit frustrated. "Tell her now, and Mom might cut you some slack. If she hears it from someone else, you're done."

Michelle loathed deceit. If Caius persisted, the consequences would be dire. He closed his eyes, lost in uncertainty.

Abigail said softly, "If you come clean, maybe I can help plead your case with Mom."

She knew Caius needed time to think, so she added, "Think it over carefully, I'll wait for your answer."

Without waiting for Caius's response, she hung up, grabbed her keys, and drove to the hospital.

David sat watching TV with a smug smile. If Michelle was alive, he could extort Caius. She owed him, and to protect her reputation, she would have to pay. With that money, he could rebuild his life.

As he dreamed of his future, the door swung open.

David turned his head and was stunned to see Abigail. "What are you doing here? You're not welcome, get out."

Abigail walked in slowly, standing in front of the bed, her eyes full of mockery. "What? Afraid of me?"

David stiffened his neck, but his eyes flickered uncontrollably, feeling guilty. "Afraid of you? Impossible! Abigail, you're here for Michelle, right? That bitch teamed up with Caius to deceive me, she's really cunning!"

Abigail looked at him expressionlessly, her gaze condescending, as if looking at an ant that could be crushed at any moment. "David, you think anyone's gonna buy your story? Coming back from the dead? Get real. This is Aramore. One word from me, and you'll never see the light of day again."

David's face stiffened, almost grinding his teeth in anger. "Abigail, what do you want?"

Abigail smiled slightly. "Of course, to teach you a lesson."

Otherwise, he really thought she was easy to bully?

She waved her hand, and the next second, a group of bodyguards in black suits flooded in, surrounding the bed tightly.

Seeing the aggressive bodyguards, David was almost scared to scream.

He glared at Abigail with a grim face. "Aren't you afraid of God's punishment for treating me like this? I'm still your nominal father."

Abigail crossed her arms, nonchalantly. "Even if there's punishment, you'll face it first, right? Besides, you've done so many bad things, I'm just doing justice."

She signaled to the bodyguards, who swiftly lifted David and slammed him to the floor.

Abigail reclined on the sofa, her eyes cold, savoring the spectacle.

The bodyguards, expertly trained, knew precisely where to strike without leaving marks. Despite David's heart condition, they controlled their strength, ensuring he cried out in pain without triggering an attack.

After a brutal round of punches and kicks, David lay in utter agony, every movement a fresh wave of torment..

He crawled to the bed, pressing the call button for the nurse. "Help, I'm dying, call the police!"

The nurse rushed to the ward upon hearing the call, and seeing the bodyguards, she turned pale with fear, standing still, afraid of provoking them.

Abigail propped her chin, her red lips curving into a charming smile, her eyes gentle. "Don't be afraid, go ahead and check."

The nurse stared at Abigail, her heart racing, her cheeks quickly flushing. "Okay."

The nurse rushed to David, fearing a heart attack, but found only a slightly elevated heartbeat.

"You're fine, just need to rest." With that, she turned to leave.

David's eyes widened in shock, full of disbelief. "Nothing wrong? How is that possible! Did you make a mistake?"

He pointed shakily at Abigail, furious. "She ordered these people to beat me. I'm in pain all over, how can there be nothing wrong? Am I dying? Or are you incompetent? Call my doctor!"

The nurse, offended by his questioning of her professionalism, looked even more displeased. "Mr. Martin, there's nothing wrong with you. Even if the doctor comes, they'll say the same."

"I don't believe it, call the doctor!" David insisted, so the nurse had to call the doctor.

After a thorough check, the doctor found nothing wrong.

David glared at Abigail, his eyes burning with rage. "Abigail, did you bribe the doctor? Or did you do something to me?"

"Mr. Martin, what are you talking about? I don't understand." Abigail blinked innocently.

Did she do anything?

Did anyone see?

David's chest heaved with anger, and he picked up his phone to call the police. "I'll have the police bring me justice! Just wait!"

Abigail smiled and nodded, not the least bit flustered. "Go ahead."

David paused, suddenly remembering something, and put the phone down.

His sentence wasn't over yet, and the police were monitoring him. If Abigail said something she shouldn't in front of the police, he'd be in even more trouble.

After the doctor and nurse left, Abigail stepped forward and took the phone from his hand.

David tried to grab it back, but with the monitoring equipment reinstalled by the doctor, he couldn't move, only watching as Abigail unlocked the phone and opened the contacts. "Is this the number that called you?"

Seeing the number Abigail pointed to, David's pupils contracted.
