Chapter 117 The Scent of a Woman's Perfume
When Gregory spoke, Olivia's face soured.
She couldn't believe it and asked shakily, "Gregory, with Abigail being so controlling, don't you feel pressured? No wonder Roman chose Jessica over her."
"Enough!" Gregory snapped, defending Abigail.
"It's not that Abigail is controlling; it's my job as her husband to handle things. I'm telling you this so you stop wasting your time. Abigail is my only wife, period."
Olivia felt like she couldn't breathe and wanted to scream.
In her mind, Gregory could only love her, Olivia, and no one else.
Gregory ignored her. When Leo brought the car around, Gregory opened the back door to get in.
Unexpectedly, Olivia ran over, grabbed his coat, and pleaded,, "Gregory, it's late. Can you take me home?"
"Sorry, it's not on the way," Gregory said firmly.
Olivia's eyes lit up. "Gregory, so you know where I live?"
Did this mean Gregory was secretly paying attention to her?
Gregory pulled his coat free and said coldly, "I don't know. If you can't take a hint, let me be clear: I need to go home to my wife. I don't have time."
He didn't care how hurt Olivia was and got in the car, telling Leo to drive.
He was never a kind person.
He had told Olivia countless times he didn't like her, but she kept pushing, wearing out his patience.
Olivia watched Gregory's car leave and stomped her foot in anger.
"Isn't this a rejection? Look in the mirror. You even lied about growing up with Mr. White," mocked her colleague, Elizabeth Jones.
Olivia turned and saw Elizabeth standing at the door with a smirk and her arms crossed.
"Elizabeth, don't slander me. Gregory and I did grew up together. Stephen White's wife is my aunt, Elaine!"
Elizabeth laughed. "That's the funniest thing I've heard all year! You're Stephen's niece? You're lying."
Olivia was furious.
Elizabeth not only competed with her for the chief jewelry designer position but also opposed her at every turn!
She snorted and calmed down. "Elizabeth, just wait. The chief designer position will be mine. Once my aunt speaks up, you won't stand a chance!"
Ignoring Elizabeth's angry curses, she walked away in her high heels without looking back.
...
Gregory got home after ten. The villa was brightly lit, and maids were tidying up in the kitchen.
Ralph greeted him, "Mr. White, you're back?"
Gregory nodded, handed him a dessert box, and instructed, "Put this in the fridge for Mrs. White to eat tomorrow."
Ralph took it with a smile and said, "Mr. White, you're so good to Mrs. White. She'll be thrilled."
Gregory smiled and headed upstairs.
He opened the bedroom door and saw Abigail at the desk, typing away, oblivious to his entrance.
Gregory walked over and hugged her from behind.
Abigail, petite as she was, fit perfectly against his broad chest.
Feeling his warmth, she turned and smiled. "Mr. White, you're back?"
"What are you working on?" Gregory glanced at the screen filled with text. "A thesis?"
Abigail nodded. "Yeah, it's my thesis. I graduate in a month, so I need to get ahead."
Double majoring was tough; she had two theses to write.
She'd been feeling a bit stressed lately.
Gregory bent down, took the mouse, and skimmed through her work, frowning slightly. "Did you get all these cases online?"
Abigail nodded. "Some are from online, and some are from materials James at the DM Group provided."
Gregory tapped her forehead and complained, "I'm the CEO of a top company. Why go to others?"
Abigail blinked playfully. "I didn't want people to think I was taking shortcuts!"
Gregory found it both amusing and exasperating. "I'm just providing some cases, not writing it for you. What's the big deal?"
"True." Abigail was convinced and hugged his neck, asking sweetly, "Mr. White, will you let me take a shortcut now?"
Gregory chuckled. "Of course, because you're my wife. I have to fulfill your every wish!"
Looking at Gregory's handsome face, Abigail felt her heart melt.
Just as Gregory leaned in to kiss her, she suddenly frowned and sniffed his suit. "What's that smell?"
"What smell?" Gregory sniffed his suit, and his face darkened.
"It's perfume, a woman's scent! Wait, it seems familiar. Have I smelled it before?" she wondered aloud.
Women had a knack for these things, and Abigail's expression turned serious.
Gregory, worried she'd misunderstand, quickly explained, "I was at a social event tonight. Maybe I got it on me during dinner."
Abigail snorted lightly. "Were there many beautiful women at the dinner?"
Gregory replied seriously, "I didn't notice."
He really hadn't. He only knew there were three men and two women, one of whom was Olivia.
As for the other woman, he didn't even remember her face.
During the meal, he had been talking to Rex the whole time.
Seeing Gregory's earnest expression, Abigail laughed. "Alright, I believe you. Go take a shower, or you won't be allowed in bed tonight!"
Gregory's expression turned serious, and he quickly grabbed his change of clothes and headed to the shower.
After taking off his suit, he threw it directly into the trash can, his eyes filled with disgust.
