Chapter 380 Candlelight Dinner

Three days later, Abigail received a call from an unknown number.

She thought it was a client calling and answered it absentmindedly, only to hear David's voice.

"Abigail, it's David."

Hearing the familiar voice, Abigail's expression instantly turned cold. "Mr. Martin, do I need to remind you? We severed our father-daughter relationship a long time ago. Besides, we did a paternity test; I'm not your biological daughter."

David felt only awkwardness and deep regret.

"Abigail, it was my fault back then. I did many things that hurt you, but I've realized my mistakes now. Can you give me another chance?" He truly knew he was wrong now.

David regretted his past choices. He had believed Kayla was loyal, but now he knew she was only after his money. Only Abigail, though not his biological daughter, was kind and pure. If he treated her well, wouldn't DM eventually be his?

David was scheming in his mind, unaware that Abigail had already seen through his thoughts.

Abigail sneered, a trace of mockery flashing in her eyes. "Mr. Martin, you still don't understand what I'm saying. I mean, I'm not your daughter and have no obligation to support you."

With that, she didn't give David a chance to speak and decisively hung up the phone.

Hearing the busy tone, David's face fell. He gripped the phone tightly, teeth grinding in despair. Without Abigail to cover his medical bills, what would he do?

DM President's Office, Abigail casually tossed her phone aside, leaned back in her office chair, and stared at the ceiling, feeling conflicted.

She never expected David to come begging. She had underestimated his shamelessness. Their grievances spanned more than a decade of neglect and scheming; they encompassed all the pain her mother had endured. Though Michelle had forgotten the events, the hurt remained.

David's retribution had just begun.

A knock on the door sounded.

Abigail snapped out of her chaotic thoughts, collected her emotions, and said to the door, "Come in."

The office door was pushed open from the outside, and Lily walked in with some documents. "Ms. Martin, our previous business partner wants to invite you to dinner at the rooftop restaurant of the Skyline Hotel."

Abigail adjusted her expression slightly, her voice cool. "Decline it. I have plans tonight."

Lily blinked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Ms. Martin, are you meeting Mr. White tonight?"

Abigail glanced at her, smiling. "Stop being curious and get back to work."

"Got it! I'll go right away. Have a great time with Mr. White. I'll decline the invitation now."

Having worked with Abigail for a long time, Lily had gradually figured out her temperament and knew she wouldn't easily lose her temper with employees, so she had become bolder.

As she reached the door and was about to open it, she heard Abigail's faint voice from behind. "By the way, how did you know who I'm having dinner with tonight?"

Lily paused, smiling awkwardly, seemingly a bit embarrassed. "Leo told me."

Leo mentioned that Gregory had planned a romantic candlelight dinner with Abigail tonight. She couldn't help but feel wistful, wishing someone would invite her to one.

Hearing this, Abigail couldn't help but laugh. "If you like candlelight dinners so much, let Leo take you. He's saved quite a bit of money working with Gregory all these years."

Lily's cheeks turned bright red. "Ms. Martin, don't tease me."

Seeing her blushing face, Abigail couldn't help but laugh. "Alright, I'll let you off for now. Get back to work."

Lily, feeling like she had been granted amnesty, quickly ran off.

In the evening, Gregory arrived on time to pick up Abigail and took her to an underwater restaurant.

Surrounded by transparent glass, deep blue water, and swimming fish and marine life.

The restaurant's environment was serene and elegant, exuding an indescribable romance.

There was even a live violin performance.

Gregory held Abigail's hand and, guided by the waiter, sat down and handed her the menu.

"What would you like to eat?"

Abigail opened the menu, glanced at it, and casually ordered four or five dishes.

The food at this restaurant was excellent, and Abigail ate with great satisfaction, nodding in approval.

As they were leaving, they ran into a familiar face: Roman. He looked much more haggard, no longer the confident man he once was. Clearly not expecting to see Abigail and Gregory, he stood frozen.

The young woman beside him noticed the strange atmosphere and gently nudged him. "Do you know them?"

Roman snapped out of it, a hint of discomfort in his eyes. Clearing his throat, he called out, "Gregory."

Gregory glanced at him indifferently and responded with a nod.

Rachel, hearing Roman's greeting, widened her eyes in surprise. "Gregory? Is he the Gregory?"

Her gaze towards Gregory became increasingly eager, nervously greeting him. "Hello, Gregory. I'm Rachel, Roman's girlfriend. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Gregory nodded and, without saying anything further, took Abigail's hand and left.

From the moment he decided to go against Elaine, their relationship was destined to be adversarial, with no need for pretense.

Moreover, he found everything Roman had done despicable.

After they left, Rachel excitedly grabbed Roman's hand, saying, "I didn't expect Gregory to be so young. No wonder everyone praises him as young and promising. When we get married, we must maintain a good relationship with him; it will definitely benefit your future."

Her expectations weren't high; she didn't seek to inherit the family fortune, just a life of wealth and the ability to support her relatives.

Unexpectedly, Roman's face darkened instantly upon hearing this. "Stop thinking about him. He won't help us."

Rachel, unfamiliar with the White family's affairs, asked curiously, "Why? We're family. What's wrong with helping us? Gregory is so stingy!"

Roman's expression was complex as he said quietly, "Do you really not know, or are you pretending? Abigail is my ex-fiancée. My ex-wife, Jessica, once offended Abigail. Do you think Gregory would help us?"

Rachel's mouth dropped open in shock, unable to speak for a long time.

How could this be?

Didn't this shatter all her hopes?

However, she quickly thought that Roman was also young and promising. Even without Gregory's help, as long as he worked hard, there would definitely be no problem!
