Chapter 389 Being Your Wife for a Lifetime

Gregory waved the spatula in his hand and smiled. "Haven't you always complained that the food our chef makes is bland? I'll cook for you myself."

Emotion washed over Abigail. She stepped forward, hugging Gregory and resting her cheek against his firm chest.

"Gregory, why are you so good to me?"

Gregory ruffled her hair, his tone full of affection. "You're my wife. Who else would I be good to if not you?"

Abigail's lips curled into a smile, unable to hide the joy in her eyes. "Being your wife is really lucky. I want to be your wife for a lifetime."

Gregory smiled and tapped her nose. "Alright, a lifetime it is."

They exchanged a smile, and then he turned off the stove and served the dish he had just finished cooking.

"Alright, just one more dish to go. It's pretty smoky in here; you should go out."

Abigail didn't move and asked, "What's the last dish?"

Gregory gave a mysterious smile. "Guess."

"Come on." Abigail pouted and turned to leave. She'd find out sooner or later.

Gregory shook his head as Abigail left. Ten minutes later, he had a plate of grilled lobster ready. The familiar aroma made Abigail's eyes light up.

Her morning sickness had eased after a few days. Avoiding spicy foods kept her fine. Now, the rich aroma made her stomach growl.

"Smells so good!"

Gregory handed her the utensils. "You must be starving. Eat more; you've lost weight."

Hearing this, Abigail lowered her eyes slowly and pointed to her slightly rounded belly. "It's all because this little one in my belly eats so much. All the nutrition goes to it."

Gregory's expression turned serious. He gently touched Abigail's belly through her clothes and said in a deep voice, "Your mom's not in great health; you need to be considerate of her."

His serious demeanor made Abigail burst into laughter. "It's not even three months old yet. Are you sure it can understand?"

Gregory answered, "Early education is important. Even if it doesn't understand now, repeating it will make it remember."

He wanted the child to remember from a young age that Abigail was the most important person in the family.

No matter what happened, Abigail should always come first. The child should never hurt or bully Abigail, nor do anything that could harm her.

Listening to Gregory's words, Abigail couldn't help but feel a wave of sweetness in her heart.

Ever since she met Gregory, she felt cherished and loved, just as he had promised.

Maybe it was Gregory's words that worked; Abigail ate much more today than before.

Seeing Abigail's empty bowl, Gregory looked satisfied. "Good, keep it up."

Abigail, rubbing her full belly, leaned back in her chair, not wanting to move.

Seeing Gregory stand up, Abigail's eyes curved into a smile. "Mr. White, remember to wash the dishes. I'm heading out."

"Where to?" Gregory called her back, the smile on his face slowly fading.

What happened to their time together?

Why the sudden change?

Abigail stopped in her tracks and gave Gregory a placating smile. "Isn't there still tomorrow? We can have our time together then."

Gregory tugged at his tie and repeated, "Where to?"

Though his face was expressionless, it was clear he was on the verge of getting angry.

Abigail nervously swallowed, feeling a bit guilty. "Tricia asked me to go shopping and accompany her for a prenatal checkup."

Gregory's frown deepened. "Why does she need you for a prenatal checkup? What is Henry doing?"

"I asked the same thing. Henry is so unreliable. He doesn't even care about such an important thing as a prenatal checkup. It's outrageous!" Hands on her hips, Abigail indignantly declared she wouldn't side with Henry.

Gregory was suddenly amused by her, pinching her soft, fair cheek. "I've seen through you. Stop acting."

Abigail laughed awkwardly. "I'm not. Henry has an important project to discuss and doesn't have time to accompany Tricia. As a friend, I can't just leave her alone at a time like this!"

Gregory gave her a sidelong glance. "So, you just abandoned your husband?"

Knowing she was in the wrong, Abigail sheepishly touched her nose, stood on tiptoe, and planted a kiss on Gregory's lips, coaxing, "I'll spend time with you tonight."

Feeling the softness on his lips, Gregory's jealousy instantly melted away, a hint of helplessness flashing in his deep eyes. "Do as you please."

Abigail excitedly hugged his neck and kissed his face several times. "Yay, I knew Mr. White was the best."

With that, as if afraid Gregory would change his mind, she quickly ran upstairs to pack her things.

Gregory's temple throbbed, and he reminded her, "Be careful and stay safe."

"Got it!" Abigail waved her hand without looking back.

She perfectly embodied the word "heartless."

Gregory sighed deeply, rubbing his temples with his slender fingers, his eyes full of helplessness.

With their planned time together gone, Gregory had no choice but to grab his car keys and head back to the office to deal with work.

Abigail returned home after nine to find only Ralph; the other servants had the day off.

Seeing Abigail come back, Ralph immediately went to greet her, "Mrs. White, why are you back so late? You should have called me; I would have picked you up."

Abigail smiled and waved her hand. "No need. There's a driver to take me. No need to trouble you. By the way, Ralph, hasn't Gregory come back yet?"

"Not yet. I just called him. It seems there's a problem with a project at the company, and he's dealing with it."

Abigail couldn't help but worry. "What project? Is it serious?"

Ralph answered, "I'm not sure, but I believe in Mr. White's abilities. I've been taking care of him for so many years, and I've never seen anything truly stump him."

Gregory's ruthless decisiveness made him a business prodigy, intimidating even seasoned professionals. He showed no mercy in business or against enemies.

Hearing Ralph say this, Abigail's heart instantly settled.

It wasn't blind confidence; in the business world, there were few things Gregory couldn't handle.
