Chapter 427 Abigail's Shyness

Abigail's cheeks flushed red as she glared at him mischievously and murmured in a low voice, "Don’t play around, there are people here."

Gregory smirked, clearly enjoying her shy expression. "Oh, so it’s fine when we’re alone, is that what you’re saying?"

Abigail huffed, turning her head away without responding.

Understanding when to back down, Gregory refrained from teasing her further.

Meanwhile, Quinn’s patience was wearing thin as Henry continued peppering him with questions. With a sharp gaze, Quinn snapped, "Shut up, can’t you stay quiet while eating? Finish your food; I’ve got things to do later."

Henry, faced with Quinn’s cold demeanor, pouted slightly, "I’m just amazed. You’ve never had a woman around before—it’s practically a miracle!"

Quinn: "You still want to talk?"

Henry quickly raised his hands in surrender, his words trailing off into silence.

Satisfied, Quinn turned his attention to Abigail and Gregory. "Didn’t we just have dinner together last night? What are you doing here again tonight? Did something happen?"

Abigail and Gregory exchanged a glance before smiling warmly. "Yes, something did happen. A happy surprise."

Quinn raised a skeptical eyebrow.

Abigail beamed as she shared the hospital results, holding up two fingers. "Starting today, you’ll have two nieces or nephews, Quinn. Aren’t you excited?"

Quinn’s usual stoicism broke slightly as a smile tugged at his lips. "Yes, I’m excited."

His gaze lingered on Abigail’s belly, softening with an unfamiliar tenderness.

Quietly, he added, "When they’re born, I’ll prepare a gift for each of them."

It was his first time becoming an uncle, and the emotion, though subtle, was distinct and new.

Henry, on the other hand, didn’t look as pleased. "Quinn, what about my kids? No gifts for them?"

Quinn paused for a beat before saying dryly, "They had gifts, but now I’m reconsidering."

Henry’s mouth dropped slightly in disbelief.

Was that an intentional jab? It had to be, right?

Henry’s glare toward Quinn grew more intense, and he gripped his utensils tightly, slicing his steak with unnecessary force.

Abigail giggled at the scene. "See? That’s what you get for teasing him earlier. Regretting it now, aren’t you?"

Henry sighed dramatically, his voice tinged with mock sorrow. "I was just joking. Does he really have to hold such a grudge?"

Abigail gently tugged at Quinn’s sleeve, her tone coaxing. "Alright, don’t be so hard on him. He’s going to cry if you keep this up."

Henry puffed out his chest, clearly offended. "Cry? Me? Never. It’s just a gift—I don’t even want it!"

Quinn raised an eyebrow, his voice cool. "You sure?"

Henry hesitated, his bravado faltering. "Fine, I want it. I was wrong, okay?"

Quinn, unable to suppress a chuckle, finally relented with a nod.

The meal ended on a light-hearted note. As they prepared to leave, Quinn turned to Abigail. "Make sure to let Mom and Dad know the good news."

Abigail frowned slightly. "Dad’s been so busy with the Worthington Group lately, he doesn’t even answer my calls."

Quinn ruffled her hair affectionately, a rare gesture of comfort. "At least he answers yours. Mine, he just hangs up."

Hearing this, Abigail felt slightly reassured.

It seems I’m still Dad’s favorite, she thought, her mood lifting.

That night, Abigail called Michelle to share the news. Michelle’s joy was palpable, and she eagerly shared advice about pregnancy care.

Abigail listened carefully, her gaze fixated on the video call, absorbing every word Michelle said.

Michelle, pausing to sort through her collection of antique books, glanced up and saw Abigail staring at the screen with a silly grin.

"Did you remember everything I said?" Michelle asked, raising an eyebrow.

Abigail hesitated, sheepishly scratching her nose. "About half of it."

Before Michelle could say more, Gregory appeared on screen, wrapping an arm around Abigail’s shoulder. Smiling, he reassured Michelle, "Don’t worry, Mom. I remembered everything. Abigail’s in good hands."

Michelle’s expression softened, visibly relieved. "With you looking after her, Gregory, I feel at ease. Otherwise, I’d be worrying day and night."

Gregory looked down at Abigail, who was pouting slightly, her lips adorably pursed.

Pinching her cheek lightly, he coaxed, "Be good, darling. Don’t make Mom worry, okay?"

Abigail’s pout turned into a reluctant smile. "Okay."

But hidden behind her back, her hand pinched Gregory’s waist sharply.

Gregory flinched, nearly letting out a grunt, but managed to keep his composure.

In retaliation, he tilted her chin and planted a quick kiss on her lips. "Good girl."

Michelle, oblivious to their playful antics, smiled approvingly. "You two get along so well. Keep taking care of each other."

After ending the call, Gregory placed Abigail’s phone on the table and crossed his arms, his expression mock-stern. "Abigail, how dare you pinch me?"

Still wrapped in his arms, Abigail tilted her chin defiantly. "And what if I did?"

Her prideful expression only made her more radiant, her cheeks glowing like a summer peach.

Gregory’s gaze darkened as he leaned in, capturing her lips in a deep kiss.

Abigail’s muffled protests quickly turned into soft giggles as she weakly pushed against his chest.

But Gregory was far too strong. Eventually, she gave up, melting into his embrace.

When they finally parted, Abigail collapsed against him, her chest rising and falling rapidly.

Her lips, now slightly swollen, glistened like ripe strawberries. They were impossible to ignore.

Unable to resist, Gregory leaned in for another kiss, earning a half-hearted glare from Abigail.

Or so she thought.

In reality, her glistening eyes were filled with unshed tears, making her look even more enchanting.

Gregory tightened his hold, his voice a husky whisper, "Sweetheart, don’t look at me like that. You’re tempting me too much."

Abigail silently covered her flushed face with her hands, groaning, "I’m done with you."

But even as she hid, the faint curve of her lips betrayed her amusement.
