Chapter 134 Forced to Move Out

Half an hour later, Roman arrived at the Martin family home. He was stunned by the mess in the yard.

"What on earth happened? Jessica, are you hurt?" he asked.

Roman quickly embraced Jessica, looking her up and down.

Jessica shook her head and exaggeratedly recounted the events of the day, crying as if she had been greatly wronged.

"I didn't expect Abigail to be so heartless. Even though my mom isn't her biological mother, she's always treated her well, and Dad has been even more loving," she sobbed.

Roman didn't doubt the truth of Jessica's words. To him, Abigail's personality was nasty and vicious, so it was hardly surprising that she would do something like this.

He said indignantly, "Abigail is too much. How could she treat Uncle David and Aunt Kayla like this? Just wait, I'm going to call Mr. White right now and let him see Abigail's true colors."

David suddenly remembered Gregory's cold gaze and couldn't help but shiver. He quickly stopped him. "Roman, let's forget it. Mr. White is Abigail's husband; he'll definitely take her side."

But Roman insisted on calling. "Uncle David, don't worry. Gregory is a fair person. I must make Mr. White see Abigail's ugly side today!"

The Martin family members turned extremely pale, their fear palpable. They had never anticipated that they would end up harming themselves.

If this call went through, wouldn't their plot to take Abigail's shares be exposed?

Thinking of this, David somehow mustered the courage to snatch Roman's phone.

David's eyes flickered with guilt as he faced Roman's puzzled and shocked gaze.

He forced himself to calm down and lied with a steady expression, "Roman, this is a family matter. It's not good to make it public, and it's too late now. Mr. White is probably already resting."

Roman thought for a moment and realized it made sense, so he finally gave up on the idea of calling.

Seeing this, David breathed a sigh of relief.

That night, the Martin family didn't sleep at all.

David always held a glimmer of hope for Abigail, refusing to believe she could be so heartless as to truly drive them out. Yet, in reality, he had no confidence.

As soon as he closed his eyes, the image of Abigail's hate-filled gaze toward him would involuntarily surface in his mind. So fierce, so clear.

It reminded him of Michelle, who, with her heavy body, cursed him angrily before she died.

Whether it was because of guilt or something else, David didn't dare to close his eyes and could only toss and turn in bed.

His tossing and turning kept Kayla awake as well, and she glared at him irritably. "Are you going to sleep or not?"

David turned to face her and asked, "Do you think Abigail would really be so heartless? I remember she used to be reclusive but never this rebellious."

Kayla was also puzzled.

No matter how she had suppressed Abigail before, even secretly withholding her allowance and making her wear Jessica's old clothes to humiliate her, Abigail had never resisted.

But ever since she married Gregory, it was like she had suddenly become a different person.

Kayla thought for a long time and finally attributed it all to Gregory.

The two of them had their own thoughts and didn't fall asleep until dawn.

Early in the morning, they were awakened by the sound of trucks.

It was the sound of moving trucks, and it was getting closer, making them restless.

At this moment, there was a frantic knock on the door. "Mr. Martin, Mrs. Martin, something's wrong! The moving company is here, and they said we have to move out immediately!"

David and Kayla were jolted awake and scrambled out of bed.

They got dressed and hurried downstairs, only to see several movers standing in the living room, ready to start moving things.

The servants were desperately trying to stop them from coming in.

David's face darkened, and he asked sternly, "What's going on? Who let you in?"

Leo, dressed in a suit, walked in and said slowly, "Mr. Martin, Mr. White informed me that Mrs. White was kind enough to grant you an extension of three days. However, Mr. White can no longer wait and insists on moving in. You must vacate the premises today."

David and Kayla were shocked, their faces changing dramatically.

"What? Today? That's impossible!"

Kayla and Jessica had lived in this villa for five years, spending money without restraint, and the place was filled with their belongings.

Not to mention David, who had lived there for over twenty years.

Giving them just one day to pack was absurd!

Leo was indifferent to their plight and pulled out a long list from his suit pocket. "Mr. Martin, you might have misunderstood. Many of the things here are Michelle's inheritance and belong to Mrs. White. You can't take them."

David's face twitched, and a wave of resentment surged in his heart. "Why? Michelle was my ex-wife; all her things should be mine!"

Leo calmly replied to his outburst, "Really? That's not what the will says."

David's face turned red with anger, and his hands trembled. "I want to see Abigail! Let Abigail come see me!"

Leo shook his head lightly. "Sorry, Mrs. White's time is precious, and she has no time for irrelevant people."

David's breath caught, and he was furious.

Leo took out his phone and continued, "If Mr. Martin refuses to move, I'll have to call the police. I'm not sure what the penalty is for illegally occupying someone else's property, but it could be a few years."

As he spoke, he sighed regretfully.

Kayla and Jessica panicked at the mention of jail time.

They both looked at David, at a loss. "What should we do?"

Leo had connections with Gregory, and they couldn't afford to provoke him. If they ended up in jail, their lives would be ruined.

After weighing the pros and cons, David had no choice but to endure it and gritted his teeth. "We'll move!"

Leo immediately showed a satisfied smile. "That's more like it."

He waved to the movers beside him and instructed, "You are responsible for supervising. Not a single item on this list is to be removed. If anyone attempts to take anything, call the police and report them for theft."

David felt a sharp pain in his heart and stumbled, almost tripping on the stairs.

Fortunately, Kayla was quick to support him, preventing a fall.

The movers were very diligent, and David's attempts to secretly take his collection of paintings and antiques were all stopped.

"Mr. Martin, these items are all Michelle's belongings. You wouldn't be trying to steal them, would you?" a mover remarked.

The word "steal" felt like a heavy stone pressing on David's heart.

David had no choice but to painfully put the items back.

The same thing happened to Kayla and Jessica.

Even the movers were surprised to find that more than half of the precious jewelry in Jessica's jewelry box belonged to Abigail.

It was clear how miserable Abigail's life had been in this house before.
