Chapter 491 Does Tom Like Her?

Gregory's gaze paused, landing on Abigail's hand holding the envelope. His eyes narrowed slightly. "You saw everything?"

Abigail took out the envelope from her hand, nodded lightly, and her face showed an indescribable regret and sorrow. "So you came back so late last night because you went to the police station to see him?"

Gregory lowered his head and responded softly, "I had been asking Leo to investigate the truth about Melinda's death all these years. A few days ago, we finally found it, and I wanted to settle this matter once and for all. I just didn't expect..."

He thought, 'I didn't expect Tom to be so extreme and choose to commit suicide.'

Abigail knew Gregory must be feeling a bit upset at this moment. She leaned in to hug him and softly comforted, "It's not your fault. Don't feel guilty."

Gregory tightly closed his eyes, holding Abigail without speaking for a long time. Finally, he calmed down, took a deep breath, and opened the letter to read it.

When he got the letter last night, he didn't have time to open it before Abigail came downstairs.

In the rush, he stuffed the letter into his pocket and hadn't had a chance to see what was inside until now.

Abigail leaned against his chest, looking up with a serious expression. "Let's read it together."

No matter what it says, they were a couple and should bear it together.

Gregory felt a wave of emotion in his heart, smiled, and nodded, opening the letter inside.

They guessed right; it was Tom's last words.

It contained many apologies to Gregory and Abigail: [I always thought it was Gregory who caused Melinda's death, so I hated you for many years. It can almost be said that this hatred was what kept me going, but in the end, it was all a misunderstanding.]

[I apologize for the harm I caused, especially to Abigail. When Gregory suddenly married you, I realized your importance to him and deliberately got close to you and Tricia to destroy your relationship. However, I underestimated your bond and, unable to break it whatever, I manipulated Tricia's feelings for me. Please apologize to her on my behalf.]

[Finally, perhaps I shouldn't say this, but it's my last chance. Abigail, I love you. From the first moment I saw you, I was uncontrollably attracted to you. Later, I opposed Gregory partly because of this. I felt I was no worse than Gregory. If I were the one running the White Group, maybe you would have married me.]

[Forgive my wishful thinking, and I wish you happiness.]

Abigail stared blankly at the letter, incredulous. Tom liked her? How could that be!

Gregory took a deep breath. Initially, he felt some regret reading the letter.

But when he saw Tom confessing to Abigail, he was instantly filled with anger.

If Tom weren't already dead, he would have gone back to the police station to beat him up.

Gregory glanced at Abigail, seeing her staring at the letter in a daze, and got a bit angry. "What? Are you reluctant?"

His tone was full of jealousy.

Abigail snapped back to reality, seeing Gregory throwing a tantrum, and couldn't help but laugh. "Gregory, why are you so easily jealous?"

Gregory snorted, pulling Abigail into his arms and giving her a heavy kiss on the lips as a punishment. "I am. Aren't you a bit too attractive? Even someone as cold-blooded as Tom was drawn to you!"

Abigail blinked innocently and kissed him back with a smile. "But I only like you. I won't even look at other men."

Gregory was amused by her serious confession. He gently tapped her nose with his finger, his tone soft and doting. "You have good taste."

They laughed and played on the couch for a while, eventually lying down together.

Abigail gently patted Gregory's back, her voice muffled, "I still can't believe Tom really committed suicide. He had such a long life ahead of him. Why would he do that?"

Gregory was silent for a moment before slowly saying, "He was always proud. Maybe he couldn't accept the things he had done."

After speaking, he held Abigail and sat up from the couch. "Let's go downstairs to eat first. Later, we'll go to the police station to bring his body back. After all, he was part of the White family."

Tom had no close relatives left in this world. This was the last thing Gregory could do for him.

Abigail nodded and quickly went to change clothes and go downstairs.

After breakfast, Abigail wanted to go to the police station with Gregory, but he stopped her. "You're pregnant. It's better if you don't go. The scene might not be pleasant, and I don't want to scare you or the baby."

Abigail rubbed her belly, unconcerned. "I'm not that fragile. Let's go together."

She also wanted to see Tom off one last time.
