Chapter 121 Pushed Down the Stairs
In a flash, Abigail saw Olivia reaching out to push her.
Behind her was a steep staircase. It wasn't high, but falling would hurt.
She tried to dodge, but Olivia grabbed her hand.
Their positions switched.
Abigail struggled to break free, but Olivia let go first.
From a distance, it looked like Abigail had pushed Olivia.
But Abigail knew Olivia had let go and fallen on purpose!
As Olivia fell, she smiled triumphantly and gave Abigail a provocative look.
Everyone gasped as she tumbled down the stairs.
Her chest and back hit the edges hard, making her gasp in pain.
Olivia hadn't expected it to hurt so much; each second was torment.
Luckily, the stairs weren't high, and she soon landed on the first floor.
Though it hurt, she controlled her fall to avoid serious injury.
Seeing someone open the door, Olivia put on a pained expression and started sobbing, "Ms. Martin, I decided to stop pursuing Gregory, so why did you do this to me?"
Abigail stood at the top, frozen.
She had seen Olivia fall and the triumphant look in her eyes.
All the blood in her body seemed to freeze, and she trembled uncontrollably.
Then she saw Gregory walk in.
She wanted to explain, but Olivia was quicker, grabbing Gregory's pant leg. "Gregory, you have to avenge me. I invited her to talk, but she actually..."
"I didn't, it wasn't me..." Abigail defended herself.
But compared to Olivia, her explanation seemed weak.
People tended to side with the victim.
The moment Olivia got hurt, everyone labeled Abigail as malicious.
Abigail told herself to stay calm. The more chaotic the situation, the less she could afford to panic.
Still, her heart trembled when she met Gregory's cold eyes.
"Mr. White, I didn't push her, you have to believe me," Abigail said.
Gregory stood downstairs, his gaze on the disheveled Olivia.
Her fair skin was covered in bruises from the fall.
The waitstaff and café patrons were all saying they had seen Abigail push Olivia.
As Gregory looked at her, Olivia's heart leaped with joy. "Gregory, I'm in so much pain that I don't think I can stand. Can you carry me to the hospital?"
She was determined to make Gregory completely disappointed in Abigail.
No man would like a malicious woman.
All she needed was to win Gregory's sympathy and affection, and she would have a chance to develop their relationship.
She was confident that, given some time, she could make Gregory fall for her!
Olivia was lost in her fantasy, waiting for Gregory to carry her away.
But Gregory's reaction was the opposite of what she expected.
He stepped back, shook off Olivia's hand, and looked disgusted.
"Had enough acting? You should be in showbiz, not jewelry design. You might win an Oscar," he mocked.
Olivia's smile froze. "Gregory, I don't understand. What Oscar? I'm injured, don't you feel any pity?"
Seeing her pitiful look, Gregory felt even more disgusted.
He stepped back again and quickly went to Abigail's side.
Abigail seemed in shock, standing still.
Gregory felt a pang of heartache. He pulled her into his embrace, apologizing, "Did I scare you? I'm sorry I was late."
Upon hearing his gentle voice, Abigail's eyes reddened.
She choked up. "I didn't push her, she fell on her own."
"I believe you." Gregory kissed her forehead gently and stroked her back, offering comfort.
With him there, Abigail's emotions stabilized.
She had never faced such a situation and was scared by Olivia's extreme actions.
But once calm, she realized it was all a calculated plan.
No wonder Olivia had asked to meet her.
She had been too careless.
Abigail looked coldly at Olivia. "I thought you did extreme things because you loved Gregory, but now I see you're just despicable. Olivia, I won't let this go easily!"
Olivia sneered. "Abigail, you're slandering me. You pushed me, and everyone saw it!"
Abigail wanted to retort, but Gregory put his arm around her shoulder.
She saw his reassuring look.
Gregory said, "Ms. Parker, you're mistaken. As my wife, Abigail can openly harm you if she wants. She doesn't need to resort to tricks."
Olivia was too shocked to speak.
"Gregory, I'm the victim. My injuries are proof!" she snarled.
Gregory asked indifferently, "Then why would Abigail want to hurt you?"
"Because she's jealous, afraid you'll fall for me! She came to assert her dominance and warned me to stay away. I disagreed, and she got angry and pushed me!" Olivia reasoned.
Gregory sneered. "Jealous? Abigail is my wife, the rightful Mrs. White. Why would she be jealous of someone I don't even want to look at?"
His words were like a knife to Olivia's heart.
She was too shocked to think.
Gregory continued, "Your reason doesn't hold up. Olivia, this is my final warning: don't cause trouble for Abigail, or even Elaine won't be able to protect you."
