Chapter 153 Can't Let Abigail Get Pregnant
Jessica's eyes went wide. "Roman, you seriously think I'm being unreasonable?"
Roman rubbed his temples. "That's not it. I just wanna get to the bottom of this. Grandma wouldn't be mad at you for no reason."
"So you still don't trust me?" Jessica turned away, looking all hurt and starting to cry. "So, in your eyes, I'm that kind of person. Fine, I'll go apologize to those servants. Even if they look down on me, insult me, and treat me like crap, it's my own fault!"
Seeing her meltdown, Roman quickly grabbed her arm. "What do you mean by that? Have those servants been treating you badly?"
Jessica stayed quiet, just wiping her tears.
This only made Roman more suspicious.
He was about to call Andy over, but then he remembered Andy had already left.
After a moment of silence, he said to Jessica, "The servants are all asleep now. We'll deal with this tomorrow."
Jessica stomped her foot in frustration but held back her temper in front of Roman, forcing herself to calm down.
Early the next morning, Gregory and Abigail brought Grace to the White Manor.
Grace didn't want them to come. It was just a small issue she could handle herself.
Even though Grace had fallen yesterday, Jessica didn't get any upper hand.
Under Grace's pressure, Jessica apologized to the servants she had bullied.
Elaine had been at the hospital with Olivia these past few days, so no one was around to keep Jessica in check, making her even more arrogant.
With Elaine's strong personality, Jessica wouldn't dare to act up in front of her. She only picked on the weak. But Grace wasn't someone to be messed with.
When they got to the White Manor, Roman and Jessica were having breakfast.
They were eating and joking, laughter filling the living room.
Even though Grace had given up on Roman, she couldn't help but feel a bit heartbroken.
This was the kid she had spoiled growing up, and now he was being played by a woman.
He didn't even care that Grace had been wronged.
Grace closed her eyes, her thoughts all over the place, when a soft, delicate hand held hers tightly.
She slowly opened her eyes and met Abigail's worried gaze.
A warm feeling spread through her heart, pushing away the cold. Grace gave Abigail a reassuring look, letting her know she was okay.
Gregory, with a stern face, walked toward the dining room. "Roman."
His voice was calm and low, but it had a chill that made people shiver.
Roman quickly turned his head toward the door. "Gregory? What are you doing here?"
Gregory, looking sharp in his suit, stared him down. "What? I can't come?"
Roman quickly put down his utensils, stood up, and smiled at him. "Of course not. This is your home too. You can come anytime. But you're so busy. Is there something important that brought you here?"
Gregory shifted his gaze to Jessica, a mocking smile slowly forming on his lips. "You should ask Miss Jessica Martin."
Even though Roman had already married Jessica, Gregory had no intention of acknowledging her as Roman's wife.
Not just him, but the whole White family probably had only Roman willing to acknowledge her.
This was what Jessica hated most about the White family!
Facing Gregory's cold, piercing eyes, Jessica's shoulders shrank.
She suddenly remembered what Grace had said last night.
Gregory had no physical issues and was capable of having kids.
This meant her previous plans might fail, and Abigail could get pregnant and give birth to the White family's heir.
This realization gave Jessica an unprecedented sense of crisis. Because of this, she hadn't slept well all night.
No way, Abigail must not get pregnant. She had to think of a way!
Suppressing the fear in her heart, she pretended to be calm and said, "I don't know anything, Gregory. Don't pin this on me. I know Abigail doesn't like me and might say bad things about me, but it's okay. I won't be mad at her. After all, she's my sister."
Gregory sneered, "Don't drag Abigail into this. Abigail has never mentioned you in front of me. After all, an irrelevant person isn't worth it."
Jessica bit her lip secretly, her eyes instantly welling up with tears. "Is that really what you thinks of me? I'm so heartbroken."
"My dear sister, you should be more convincing in your performance. With this level, you'd only be an extra in Hollywood." Abigail walked in and stood in front of Jessica.
Seeing her, Jessica was secretly shocked.
It had only been a few days, but when did Abigail become so beautiful?
Abigail was wearing a burgundy chiffon dress, the hem reaching her ankles. The enchanting red made her skin look even fairer. The chiffon dress swayed with her steps, creating ripples, looking stunning.
And her face had become even more fair and delicate, with a touch of mature woman's charm, making her even more alluring.
She stood there, attracting everyone's attention.
Even Roman was stunned.
When he had an engagement with Abigail before, he never paid attention to her, nor did he notice her appearance.
But since Abigail married Gregory, he realized that he had never noticed how beautiful Abigail was.
A complex emotion surged in his heart.
It was like something that originally belonged to him was now shining in someone else's hands.
At a certain moment, he even felt an impulse to take Abigail back!
As soon as this thought emerged, he immediately killed it in the cradle.
What was he thinking? He clearly loved Jessica, and only Jessica!
Facing Roman's complicated gaze, Abigail frowned, feeling a trace of disgust.
She reminded him, "Did you know that Mom didn't come home last night?"
Roman was stunned for a moment, then nodded. "Why? Did something happen to Grandma?"
He looked outside and saw Grace walking in, wearing a vintage long dress.
Seeing Grace, Jessica guiltily took half a step back.
This action was precisely captured by Abigail. "Jessica, what are you hiding from? Did you do something wrong and feel guilty?"
Seeing everyone's eyes on her, Jessica nervously swallowed and retorted, "What are you talking about? How could I feel guilty? Roman, don't listen to Abigail's nonsense."
Roman wasn't stupid and quickly sensed something was wrong. "Jessica, what's going on? What did you do to Grandma?"
