Chapter 31 Not Borrowing Him Money

"Abigail, you're such a good girl! Gregory didn't tell me in advance about your marriage, so I didn't prepare any gifts. This is the wedding gift my mother left me, and it will be yours now."

Grace smiled and took off the bracelet from her wrist, putting it on Abigail's wrist.

Abigail's eyelids twitched, and she quickly waved her hand to refuse. "Grace, this is too precious. I can't accept it," she said.

But Grace was determined in her attitude. "Take it. It's my heartfelt gift. You will take care of Gregory from now on. I have a lot of jewelry here that were originally meant to be gifts for you. Take them with you when you leave."

Abigail looked towards Gregory for help, and he nodded before she reluctantly accepted the bracelet. "Thank you, Grace."

Gregory stood by, his gaze never leaving Abigail, especially when he saw her blushing cheeks. His eyes were filled with an unprecedented tenderness.

Grace saw his expression and felt very pleased. She had been worried about Gregory's marriage all this time, and now she had finally fulfilled a wish.

Although Abigail had previously engaged Roman, which would have been awkward if the news got out, Grace believed that Gregory would handle things well.

Everyone enjoyed the meal very happily, except for Elaine.

Elaine sat at the table, holding her knife and fork tightly, forcefully cutting the steak on her plate.

Her gaze was fixed on Abigail as if she was not cutting steak but Abigail herself.

Grace raised her eyes and glanced at her. "If you don't want to eat, then don't eat. Don't waste the food."

She suddenly spoke, startling Elaine, who almost dropped her knife and fork on the table.

Elaine pouted discontentedly. "Grace, you're so biased. You didn't give me anything when I got married."

Grace put down her utensils, her gaze turning cold.

Elaine trembled under her intense stare and pursed her lips, not daring to speak.

Although she was Stephen's wife and had given birth to the White family's eldest grandson, she knew that Grace had always looked down on her.

Yes, her background was not good, but she had indeed given birth to a grandson for the White family. Why should her treatment be worse than that of this little bitch, Abigail?

Before Grace could say anything, Gregory spoke first. "Elaine, if I remember correctly, my mother gave you a whole box of jewelry when you got married. Are you saying those meant nothing?"

Elaine sneered and said, "Of course, it's different. Grace's bracelet was handed down to her by her mother, and it's priceless."

Elaine heard that Grace was the most beloved daughter of a super-rich family back then.

Her wedding was very grand, and her parents gave her hundreds of boxes of jewelry as wedding gifts.

Since she married into the White family, Grace has always worn that bracelet and never taken it off, so it was extremely precious.

Elaine had coveted that bracelet for a long time, but now it had been snatched away by Abigail!

Elaine was really furious!

That little bitch, just like Michelle, was a cheap woman who only knew how to seduce people!

Shameless!

Gregory sneered, "So, you are not satisfied with what my mother gave you? If you don't like them so much, then give them back."

Elaine was immediately angry, "Why? What she gave me is mine!"

"Then shut up. These things belong to my mother. It is your honor that she gave them to you. Even if she doesn't want them, you have no right to complain."

Gregory looked away, continued eating, and slowly put Abigail's favorite food in front of her.

Elaine knew she was in the wrong; she reluctantly picked up her utensils again, but she felt very uncomfortable eating this meal.

Every time she saw Gregory tenderly adding food to Abigail, she felt uncomfortable in her heart.

Why didn't she know that Gregory still had such a gentle side before?

She didn't know why Abigail could make Gregory, previously distant, to undergo such a significant change.

Abigail noticed Elaine's gaze, met her eyes, and slowly revealed a faint smile.

Elaine was gnashing her teeth in anger, feeling that her dignity had been provoked.

Although Abigail and Roman’s engagement was broken off, in Elaine's heart, she was still Abigail's elder.

So when she looked at Abigail, her eyes were filled with strong criticism, and she subconsciously wanted to argue with her.

But before Elaine could say anything, Gregory and Grace gave her a warning look.

Being stared at by two gloomy and terrifying gazes, Elaine suddenly broke out in cold sweat and could only suppress all her emotions.

Finally, when this meal was over, Elaine immediately put down her utensils and rushed upstairs like she was fleeing.

Andy looked worriedly in the direction Elaine left and said, "Madam, she..."

Grace sneered, "Don't worry about her. She has been too overbearing at home these years. She doesn't understand etiquette. If she doesn't experience some setbacks, she might forget her own identity."
Abigail remained silent.
From the moment she entered the White Manor today, Elaine has been deliberately targeting her, and scenes like this had happened countless times before.
Elaine should have paid for everything she did a long time ago.
After dinner, Grace and Abigail chatted for over an hour.
Gregory patiently listened to them chat, but he seemed busy as his phone kept ringing. He must be dealing with work matters.
Finally, Grace couldn't stand it anymore. "Are you doing this on purpose? I didn't refuse to give Abigail back to you. There's no need for you to do this, right?"
Gregory didn't expect Grace to see through his little trick like this. He awkwardly touched his nose and turned off the phone's sound.
He was really worried that Grace would asked Abigail to stay here tonight, so earlier, he deliberately turned on the phone's sound.
He lifted his wrist to check the time and stood up. "It's getting late. We should go back. Abigail has to go back to school tomorrow."
Abigail looked surprised. How did Gregory know that she was going back to school tomorrow?
Grace rarely saw Gregory so flustered, so she was in a very pleasant mood. "Okay, Abigail, rest early and remember to visit me often in the future."
She reached out and touched Abigail's cheek, then said with concern, "As for Roman's matter, leave it to me. As for Jessica... you don't have to worry. I will never allow her to marry into the White family."
Watching her affectionate eyes, Abigail felt warm in her heart. "Thank you."
Grace smiled and reminded Gregory, "Abigail is still young so that I won't argue with you about your marriage for now. But if you dare to bully her against her will, I won't let you off."
Perhaps it was a mother-son telepathy, but Gregory immediately understood the meaning behind Grace's words.
He smiled helplessly, "I'm not that reckless."
Grace pouted, feeling that it might not be so. Abigail was so beautiful that she didn't believe he could control himself.
As it turned out, Grace must be the one who understood him the best.
