Chapter 291 Deceived!

"How could this happen?" David stared at the box in shock, unable to recover for a long time.

'Why did this happen? Where are the photos?' David wondered.

Abigail, with bloodshot eyes, looked at David and coldly questioned, "Where are the photos? Are you deceiving us?"

David's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly shook his head, saying, "No, absolutely not. I clearly put the photos in here. Yes, Abel! It must be him!"

Abel was once David's subordinate. He was also the one who helped David retrieve the photos a couple of days ago.

The key was in his hand; Abel must have taken the remaining photos!

Thinking of this, David's face turned pale, and he looked at Abigail and Gregory with intense fear in his eyes. "I really don't know anything, really, Abigail, you have to believe me."

He kept those photos just to remind himself that he had been betrayed before. The reason he took out the photos was to save Jessica.

He would never tamper with them.

David's expression didn't look like he was lying, and Abigail's heart sank heavily, feeling even more uneasy.

Gregory reached out and pulled her into his arms, softly comforting her, "Don't be afraid. I'll send someone to find Abel right away."

Since someone stole the photos, he must have some ulterior motive. As long as he has a motive, he will definitely come to us.

Under Gregory's comfort, Abigail gradually calmed down.

She took a deep breath and stared coldly at David, "If the photos get leaked, I will make you pay!"

David's shoulders shook violently, and he instinctively took half a step back.

He had no doubt that with Michelle's place in Abigail's heart, Abigail would do anything.

He quickly took out his phone and called Abel.

Perhaps because he was too flustered, his hands kept trembling.

Soon, the call was connected, and Abel's voice came through the receiver, "Mr. Martin? Do you need something?"

The tone was casual, without a hint of respect. In just three days, it was as if he had become a different person.

David frowned tightly and angrily questioned, "Abel, did you take the photos? What exactly do you want?"

Abel replied, "Photos? What photos? I don't know what you're talking about."

Seeing Abel still pretending to know nothing, David's chest heaved with anger.

'Is this ungrateful Abel trying to harm me?'

David suppressed the anger surging in his chest and said sternly, "Stop pretending in front of me. Besides me, you're the only one who had access to those photos. How dare you deny it?"

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line, followed by a burst of nearly maniacal laughter.

David frowned, quietly observing Abigail and Gregory's expressions, and continued, "I have no grudge against you. I even helped treat your mother. Why would you repay kindness with evil?"

Abel sneered, "Repay kindness with evil? Have you ever truly done anything kind for me? The notion is laughable!"

What he couldn't stand the most was David's hypocritical demeanor. He was deceived by David back then, leading to his current miserable situation.

He sneered, "David, your life is such a failure. You used to brag in front of me about how great you were, how many women surrounded you, but you can't even keep the heart of your legal wife!"

The blatant humiliation made David's face darken. He clenched his fists tightly, trying hard to suppress the anger in his heart.

"In the end, what will it take for you to hand over the photos?" DAvid asked.

If those photos were released, his last bit of dignity would be completely destroyed. He would never allow that to happen!
