Chapter 357 Darwin Knew the Truth

After Abigail and her group left, Michelle stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, a faint smile in her eyes.

Caius hugged her from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder. "Michelle, are you this happy?"

Michelle was slightly taken aback. "Is it that obvious?"

Caius sighed helplessly, cupping her cheeks and whispering, "It's all written on your face. Do you like Abigail that much?"

Michelle nodded emphatically. "Yes, I do. Abigail seems gentle but is actually very mischievous and endearing."

After a pause, she added, "I don't know why, but every time I see her, I feel an urge to get close to her and be good to her."

A dark glint flashed in Caius's deep eyes, but he said nothing.

Michelle leaned into his embrace and whispered, "We have a daughter now, so why not take the opportunity to introduce her to dad?"

Caius nodded gently, his voice low and tender. "Alright, whatever you say."

With Caius's approval, Michelle quickly told Abigail, who stared at the message, deep in thought.

Gregory, beside her, extended his long arm and pulled her into his embrace, asking softly, "Isn't this a good thing? Why do you still look so down?"

Abigail looked up, her clear eyes filled with confusion and helplessness. "I don't know. It all feels like a dream, a bit unreal."

Gregory chuckled helplessly, then suddenly leaned down and bit her rosy lips.

"Does it hurt?"

Abigail nodded. "A little."

Gregory said, "If you can feel it, then it's not a dream. It's real. So, Abigail, you really found your mom; it's not a dream."

Abigail blinked, her eyes suddenly stinging. Pregnancy made her emotions unpredictable, and she often felt like crying. Gregory, understanding, held her gently, patting her back.

Quinn and Henry watched, feeling helpless. Quinn fetched a cake box from the kitchen. Abigail, still down, noticed a slender hand offering her a slice, the faint scent of strawberry cream wafting around.

She sniffed, her eyes lighting up. "Thank you, Quinn!"

A bite of something sweet lifted Abigail's spirits, brightening everyone's mood.

Two days later, Gregory and Quinn brought Abigail to the hospital. They took the elevator to the top-floor VIP ward, where Caius and Michelle waved her over. The atmosphere was tense; Darwin lay in bed, looking unwell and angry.

But when he saw Quinn, his face lit up with a smile. "Quinn, you're here? Come over and let me see you."

Darwin, now eighty and gravely ill, looked very old and frail, his face devoid of color, reduced to skin and bones.

But even so, one could still see how handsome and refined his features were in his youth.

Quinn walked to the bedside and greeted, "Grandpa."

Darwin nodded with a smile, then turned his gaze to the only girl behind him. "Is this the granddaughter you found for me?"

Abigail, being called out, stepped forward and said softly, "Grandpa."

She could feel Darwin's scrutinizing gaze but showed no fear or hesitation.

The Darwin before her was her biological grandfather.

David's parents were harsh, mean-spirited rural folks who despised her and Michelle just for being girls, so she never felt the love of grandparents growing up.

Now, facing Darwin, she couldn't help but feel a bit nervous.

After a long wait, just when Abigail thought Darwin wouldn't respond, an old voice finally spoke, "Since Caius has acknowledged you, I have nothing more to say."

With that, he shakily raised his hand.

Quinn quickly leaned over and held his hand. "Grandpa, if you need anything, just tell me."

Darwin said, "I have a villa in the downtown. Consider it my gift to you."

Abigail blinked, a bit surprised. "For me?"

Michelle patted her back with a smile. "Silly girl, who else would it be for? Hurry and thank Grandpa."

"Thank you, Grandpa!"

A sweet smile immediately spread across Abigail's face, making her look obedient and adorable, endearing to others.

Darwin's expression softened a bit.

When Caius first told him they had acknowledged a daughter, he thought Caius and Michelle had been deceived.

But now, he seemed to understand why Caius and Michelle liked Abigail so much.

After a brief chat, Darwin felt a bit tired and waved them off. "Alright, don't crowd around here. Don't you have anything else to do?"

"Rest well, we'll visit you another day."

After saying goodbye, Caius hugged Michelle and walked out.

Abigail and Quinn also said, "Goodbye, Grandpa," and prepared to leave.

Just then, Darwin spoke again, "Caius, stay here. I have a few words to say."

Caius glanced at Michelle. "You take the kids out first. I'll be right there."

Michelle, a bit worried, left after receiving a reassuring look from Caius.

The ward quickly emptied, leaving only Darwin and Caius.

Darwin got straight to the point. "Is Abigail Michelle's child?"

Caius nodded, not intending to hide it. "Yes."

"You know she's Michelle's child, and you still acknowledge her as your daughter? Are you crazy?"

Caius, unfazed by the scolding, smiled. "She's my daughter too."

"What do you mean by that?"

"Exactly what it sounds like."

Darwin looked like he'd been struck by lightning, frozen in place, incredulous. "You mean that accident really got Michelle pregnant?"

Caius coughed awkwardly and nodded. "I've done a paternity test. There's no mistake."

After a moment of shock, Darwin's face broke into a smile.

"Really? That's wonderful, wonderful. I knew Abigail seemed so lively because she has the Worthington family genes."

Darwin wasn't a heartless or overly conservative person; otherwise, he wouldn't have accepted Michelle into the Worthington family back then.

Now, knowing the Worthington family had gained a new member, he was naturally very happy.

He suddenly sighed, glaring at Caius. "It's all your fault. If you'd told me earlier, I would've prepared more gifts."

Caius smiled helplessly. "Dad, Abigail already appreciates your gesture. If you give too many gifts, Michelle might get suspicious."

Hearing this, Darwin got even angrier. "It's all your fault. If Michelle regains her memory, what will you do then?"

Caius's smile suddenly faded, a dark glint flashing in his deep eyes.

"That day will never come."

He wouldn't let that happen.

Darwin snorted. "You'd better hope so. I won't help you if it does."

Caius rubbed his temples helplessly and turned to leave.

Watching him go, Darwin sighed. "We're all getting old, but you still make me worry."

The Worthington blood ran wild; it was unchangeable.
