Chapter 159 The Design Draft Was Stolen
Tricia could tell right off the bat that she didn't buy it, even though she said she did.
She shot a death glare at Abigail and snapped, "I'm not talking to you! You've lost your talking privileges with me for now."
Her attempt to hide her true feelings only made them more obvious, which amused Abigail, but the bell rang for class, so Abigail had to had to zip it.
Thomas was up front, kicking off the lesson.
Jessica barged in late, cutting Thomas off mid-sentence. "Thomas, I'm super sorry, didn't mean to be late."
Thomas gave her a look and sighed, "Jessica, just grab a seat. Try not to be late again, okay?"
He wasn't really mad, though. This was the last class anyway.
Jessica gave an awkward smile and hustled to her seat.
She scanned the room and zeroed in on Abigail, making a beeline for her.
As she got closer, Abigail's brow furrowed. Was it just her, or did Jessica's eyes scream challenge and mockery?
"Morning, Abigail," Jessica said with a sly grin.
Abigail stared her down but stayed silent.
Jessica put on her best sad puppy face, "Abigail, I said hi. How can you just ignore me?"
Before Abigail could say a word, Tricia jumped in. "So, what do you want? Should I announce with a megaphone that you're late?"
Jessica was aiming to tick off Abigail, but Tricia's quick clapback threw her off.
Just as she was about to retort, Thomas cut in, "Jessica, if you're late, just sit down and don't bug everyone else."
All eyes turned to Jessica.
She turned beet red, found an empty seat, and plopped down, keeping her mouth shut.
Thomas went back to his lesson.
Jessica let out a quiet sigh of relief, then shot a nasty glare at Abigail and Tricia. "Abigail, don't get too comfy. You won't be laughing for long!"
Just wait, she'd show Abigail who the real boss was today!
She'd make sure Abigail couldn't show her face again!
Seeing Jessica's evil glare, Tricia shot one right back.
Tricia sneered, "What are you staring at? Want me to take your eyes out?"
Jessica didn't dare to mess with Tricia and slowly turned away.
Halfway through class, students started presenting their design drafts and inspirations.
Tricia leaned over to Abigail and whispered, "Abigail, what did you design?"
"A mermaid gown, you'll see it soon," Abigail replied with a grin.
Tricia smirked and glanced at Jessica. "Your design's gonna blow everyone away, especially those who think too highly of themselves."
Even though she whispered, Jessica caught it.
Jessica's hands clenched on the desk, eyes flashing with anger.
She was so done with Abigail always overshadowing her!
Starting today, she was gonna be the legend of Aramore University.
Admired, revered, and envied by everyone.
And Abigail? She'd be a laughingstock forever!
Right then, Thomas called Jessica's name.
Jessica hid her excitement and slowly stood up.
Before heading to the front, she shot Abigail another smug look.
Abigail didn't get it, but something about Jessica's vibe gave her a bad feeling.
As Jessica unveiled her design draft, that bad feeling hit like a ton of bricks.
Abigail sat up straight, her eyes blazing with anger, locked onto the design.
Jessica's draft was almost a carbon copy of the one Abigail had slaved over for a week. Just a few tweaks here and there.
Abigail's hand shook as she gripped her laptop bag. 'Jessica, you sneaky little...'
Flashes of last night zipped through her mind, stopping at the moment she noticed her computer had been messed with.
No wonder her laptop seemed off when she got back. It wasn't her imagination; someone had tampered with it.
And that someone had the guts to break into Maple Residence.
Time for a serious security upgrade.
Thinking about it, a cold, sharp glint flashed in Abigail's eyes.
Jessica was up there, talking up a storm about her "work."
The most laughable part? Jessica had memorized Abigail's presentation word for word.
She really went all out.
Tricia noticed Abigail's pale face and asked, worried, "Abigail, you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost."
Abigail snapped back to reality and shook her head gently. "I'm fine."
On stage, Thomas couldn't help but gush, and then the room erupted in applause.
Thomas said, "Jessica's work is simply perfect, almost flawless. I can't even imagine what kind of inspiration led Jessica to design such a masterpiece!"
Jessica's cheeks flushed with the praise, and in her excitement, she clenched the hem of her dress.
Through the crowd, she raised her chin at Abigail.
Didn't Abigail think she was all that? Well, this is just what she gets for her cold-hearted actions towards them.
Seeing Jessica lost in her own world, Thomas called her name again, worried, "Jessica, the students are all waiting for your answer. Can you tell us?"
Jessica snapped out of it and smiled faintly, explaining, "The inspiration for this piece comes from a classic novel about a romantic story between a mermaid and a human."
All the students stared at the piece, eyes wide with envy and awe.
This was the first time they really paid attention to Jessica.
Before, wherever Jessica went, she was always in Abigail's shadow.
Whether it was looks, figure, or talent, Jessica couldn't hold a candle to Abigail.
The only thing people remembered about her was stealing Roman, but that was just gossip, nothing serious.
Until now, they realized Jessica had some serious skills!
Jessica soaked up all the attention, a hint of pride gleaming in her eyes.
