Chapter 404 One Hundred Million
Three days later, the news of David going insane in the hospital was exposed by reporters, causing a huge uproar.
David was somewhat famous in Aramore. The news of Abigail personally sending him to prison had even made it to the news back then.
Moreover, in just a few months, Abigail had managed DM so well that it seemed to have the potential to rise again as it did over 20 years ago, making her well-known in the business circle.
So this incident drew a lot of attention, and many people wanted to see Abigail's reaction.
To their dismay, Abigail remained indifferent, continuing her life as if David were a stranger. Though momentarily surprised by his madness after 20 years together, she felt no sympathy. In her eyes, his fate was just.
However, going insane might be better; sometimes being clear-headed is more painful.
Abigail sighed deeply and asked Caius, "Did you do this?"
Caius took a drag of his cigarette and said noncommittally, "He just went insane. I thought David would be so overwhelmed that he'd commit suicide in the hospital."
Unfortunately, it had been a long time since his hands were stained with blood.
Otherwise, David wouldn't be as unscathed as he was now.
Abigail shook her head helplessly. "Sometimes, living is more painful than dying."
This could be considered revenge for Michelle and her past self, making things even.
"By the way, that Jessica, did she bully you before?" Caius suddenly asked.
Abigail shook her head. "Not really bullying, she just liked to take my things. Anything she touched, I didn't want to use anymore. I threw away everything that needed to be thrown away."
Caius gave her an approving look. "That's my daughter."
Abigail raised her eyebrows slightly and smiled at him.
After two weeks in Aramore and plans to visit Abigail's company, an urgent call from Aerilon shattered everything. Darwin had only months left. Caius's brow furrowed, his face unreadable. Heartbroken, Michelle quickly packed for their return.
Abigail, worried that Michelle was overthinking, could only keep comforting her, staying by her side without leaving. "Mom, how about I go back with you?"
"No need, it's too urgent. If you want to see Darwin, wait until you've handled things here. Caius and I will go back first to check on the situation."
The Worthington family, though a family of doctors, couldn't control life and death.
Darwin not only had heart problems but also cancer, and the cancer cells had spread throughout his body, making it almost incurable.
Hearing this, Abigail's eyes instantly reddened.
Although she hadn't spent much time with Darwin, he had been very good to her. She had finally gained an elder who cared for her, but now Darwin was seriously ill.
She hugged Michelle tightly and said in a muffled voice, "Mom, take care of yourself. I'll come to be with you in a few days."
"Okay."
After packing up, Caius and Michelle didn't dare to delay any longer and took a flight that night.
Watching their departing backs, Abigail slowly furrowed her brows.
Gregory pulled her into his arms and asked, "What's wrong? Not happy?"
"I don't know, I just feel a bit uneasy."
Gregory gently rubbed her hair, comforting her, "Don't overthink it. I'll handle some work these two days and go to Aerilon with you."
Abigail looked up, her face full of gratitude. "Gregory, you're so good."
Gregory lowered his head and kissed her soft lips. "As long as you know."
With his comfort, Abigail's low and suppressed mood finally improved, and she held Gregory's hand as they went home together.
Early the next morning, Abigail opened her eyes and suddenly heard a commotion outside.
She lazily stretched, her round-neck pajamas moving up with the motion, revealing a slender waist, very enticing.
She rubbed her eyes, slowly got out of bed, and walked out. "Ralph, what's going on? Why is it so noisy?"
Jessica arrived at Maple Residence early in the morning, hoping to see Abigail. The servants, however, stopped her at the door and refused to inform Abigail, fearing they might wake her. How could Gregory tolerate such laziness and unruliness?
Thinking about how she couldn't afford a nanny at home and had to get up early every day to cook, Jessica felt a surge of displeasure.
"I warn you, you'd better let me in quickly. You can't afford to delay this!"
The servant sneered. "Nothing is more important than Abigail's rest. If you're in such a hurry, wait here until she wakes up."
Jessica stomped her foot in anger and shouted inside, "Abigail, come out! Come out!"
"What's all the noise about?" Abigail walked out of the villa, wearing a matcha green silk camisole, the comfortable and soft fabric accentuating her figure perfectly.
There was an indescribable sexiness in her lazy and casual demeanor.
Jessica stared at her, jealousy raging inside. Was it her imagination, or was Abigail's face getting prettier?
"Abigail, I need to talk to you. Let me in."
Hearing the familiar voice, Abigail lazily lifted her eyelids. "Oh, it's you. What's up?"
Jessica gritted her teeth. "It's about Michelle. Are you sure you want to talk about it here?"
Abigail crossed her arms and stared at her for a moment until Jessica felt a bit scared. Then she looked away. "Come in."
Jessica was overjoyed and quickly followed her in.
The two sat facing each other on the sofa. Jessica sat up straight, a hint of excitement in her eyes.
Abigail lounged casually on the sofa.
Her golden hair was casually draped over her shoulders, her full shoulders exposed, and an enticing view in front, making it hard to look away.
The two formed a stark contrast sitting together.
Jessica glanced at her own worn-out clothes, then at Abigail, a flash of jealousy in her eyes.
Why was Abigail so lucky?
Wasn't it just because of Gregory?
How great would it be if she had Gregory's favor?
While fantasizing, Abigail's cold gaze suddenly swept over. "Didn't you want to talk? Why are you staring at my face? How much information do you have?"
Jessica cleared her throat and said, "I have a lot of information. If the news that Michelle isn't dead gets out, it will definitely be big news."
Abigail was concise. "Terms."
Jessica suppressed her excitement and made a gesture. "One hundred million dollars."
