Chapter 298 Divorce

"Roman, you bastard! I've given so much for you, and you dare treat me like this!" Jessica was crying and screaming, her voice sharp and grating. She no longer appeared poised and elegant, but rather like a shrew.

Roman looked at her with disappointment.

How had he never noticed before how unreasonable Jessica could be?

"Have you had enough? If you have, get back to your room!" With that, he signaled to the housekeeper, who immediately nodded and escorted Jessica into the living room.

Roman looked apologetically at Rachel. "Ms. Thorne, I'm really sorry. It's my fault for not disciplining Jessica properly."

Rachel's face was covered in tears, her eyes brimming with them, yet she still managed to appear understanding.

"It's okay. I know Ms. Martin didn't mean it. She just loves you so much that she sees every woman as a rival," Rachel said.

Hearing her say this, Roman felt even more guilty. "Ms. Thorne, no matter what, it's my fault you got hurt this time. I'll take you out to dinner next time as an apology."

Rachel nodded happily and said goodbye to him.

Although she hadn't made Roman completely despise Jessica, she believed that after today's incident, their divorce might not be far off.

From the moment she first saw Roman, she had been deeply attracted to him.

As Ms. Thorne of the Thorne family, she had been pampered since childhood and had everything she wanted.

She was determined to have Roman as well!

After sending Rachel off, Elaine covered her face and cried, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"Roman, you have no idea how awful Jessica was when you weren't here. She even accused me of disregarding her well-being. She doesn't even think about it. She got herself into the police station. It was her own doing. Letting her out would be going against Gregory. How could we dare?"

Hearing Elaine's words, Roman's face grew even darker.

He comforted her briefly, then quickly went upstairs to the bedroom.

Jessica was lying on their bed, crying, her sobs full of grievance.

Roman frowned, walked over, and unceremoniously pulled Jessica up from the bed.

"Jessica, let's get a divorce," Roman said.

During the time Jessica was away, he had seriously considered their relationship.

He no longer loved Jessica.

Or rather, he only loved the Jessica of the past—the gentle, kind Jessica who liked to snuggle in his arms and act coyly.

Perhaps he discerned a semblance of Abigail within Jessica.

After Abigail lost her memory, she forgot her past with Gregory and followed him wholeheartedly, relying on him, trusting him.

She even liked to act coy in front of him, as if he was the most trustworthy person in the world.

As for the current Jessica, she was arrogant, willful, and inherently malicious, not worthy of his affection at all.

Jessica's eyes widened in shock. "What did you say?"

"I said divorce, today." Since he had made up his mind, he didn't want to drag it out any longer.

The longer it dragged on, the deeper the hurt.

Jessica, however, broke down. She screamed and shouted, "I don't agree! Roman, do you really have your eyes on Rachel? I'm telling you, divorce is impossible in this lifetime!"

She had worked so hard to marry Roman; how could she possibly get a divorce?

Moreover, she had a child in her belly.

Yes, the child!

She clung to Roman's clothes like a drowning person grasping at straws, pleading, "Roman, we have a child. Can you bear to let our child grow up without a father? Please, don't divorce me."

Looking at the pleading Jessica, Roman felt a moment of softness.

But in the end, he gritted his teeth and said harshly, "If you don't want to have this child, then get an abortion. If you want to keep it, I'll fulfill my duties as a father."

Jessica seemed to have suffered a huge blow and cried out in pain. "Roman, how can you be so heartless? What did I do wrong?"

Roman sneered, "Do you need me to list what you've done? How long do you plan to deceive me? When you first got together with me, you weren't sincere at all. You were just after the White family's status and wanted to get back at Abigail."

Jessica suddenly looked up, her eyes full of astonishment. "How did you know?"

She had deliberately approached Roman, using all her charm to seduce him, all to take away what belonged to Abigail.

But later, she truly fell in love with Roman.

"Roman, let me explain," Jessica said.

Roman, however, shook off her hand and sneered, "If it weren't for you, I might still be the Roman of the White family. My parents wouldn't have been forced apart, living such miserable lives. Jessica, you deserve to die!"

Roman added, "I'll give you half an hour to pack up and go to City Hall for the divorce."

With that, he left the bedroom without looking back.

Jessica hurriedly picked up her phone, wanting to call Kayla for help, but the next second, she remembered that Kayla was still in the police station.

She gripped her phone tightly, her eyes filled with seething hatred.

'Abigail, Abigail.'

She had fallen to this point all because of Abigail.

Why could Abigail still enjoy Gregory's love and run the company so well?

She was unwilling!

She lowered her eyes, tightly pursed her lips, and suddenly came up with a plan, a venomous glint flashing in her eyes.

Half an hour later, Roman took Jessica to City Hall and divorced her on the spot.

Jessica's eyes were red, and tears kept flowing.

Seeing Roman about to leave without any hesitation, Jessica hurriedly grabbed his sleeve. "Roman, I'm homeless now. My mom is in the police station, and my dad is in the hospital. Please, for the sake of the years we've been together..."

Roman interrupted her coldly, "I'll have a lawyer handle the property division as soon as possible. I won't treat you unfairly."

Jessica's eyes lit up. Roman still cared about her!

But what she didn't know was that Roman had already given her countless chances before, but she had never seized them and kept causing trouble.

Over time, he had accumulated enough disappointment and completely given up on her.

No one in this world would ever love her wholeheartedly, protect her, or even give up everything for her.

But those were stories for another time.

After leaving City Hall, Jessica went to the hospital.

When she entered the ward, Susan was feeding David.

Seeing Susan, Jessica immediately became wary. "What are you doing here?"

Susan's lips curled into a gentle smile. "I'm here to take care of David, of course. Jessica, how could you leave your father alone in the ward?"

Her tone was full of reproach. Hearing this, David frowned.

He used to love Jessica the most, thinking she was obedient and sensible, but now he was truly disappointed.
