Chapter 497 This Illness Can Be Cured
Caius frowned slightly. "That's not right, I've never used Phoenix Tail Herb in the tonic. Are you sure you didn't make a mistake?"
Beckett stepped aside, somewhat displeased. "If you think you're so capable, check it yourself. If not, just shut up."
Caius quickly grabbed Michelle's wrist and carefully diagnosed her. Her pulse was very weak, almost lifeless, like a withered tree that could lose its vitality at any moment.
After a long time, he finally noticed something.
His face grew increasingly grim, and his expression became more and more severe. "How could this be?"
He had been diagnosing Michelle every day but had never noticed anything. He should have been the most familiar with Michelle's body, yet he hadn't discovered anything for years!
He said, "Michelle, I'm sorry. This is my fault. It's all on me."
"Don't blame yourself. This isn't your fault at all." Michelle felt bad seeing him blame himself. She gently held his hand and comforted him in a low voice.
Then, she looked at Beckett. "Please stop scaring him and just tell us if my illness can be cured. It would give us some peace of mind."
Beckett gave Michelle an approving look and nodded secretly. "Not bad. You're the calm one. I've told you all to listen to me, but none of you know how to listen to your elders."
Honestly, if it weren't for Darwin, he wouldn't have come. Beckett knew Darwin well; they were friends and shared the same teacher. But after some changes in Beckett's family, he chose to live in seclusion, avoiding the outside world. Over the years, he only emerged occasionally to treat people.
Upon hearing Caius, Beckett was secretly surprised and thought he could visit Darwin, only to find out that Darwin had already passed away.
Thinking of this, Beckett sighed deeply and gave Michelle a reassuring look. "Don't worry, I can cure your illness. In less than two months, I guarantee you'll be well."
Upon hearing this, Caius and Abigail were overjoyed and looked at Michelle excitedly. "Really? You can really cure her?"
"Yes, I'll write a prescription right away. You go buy the herbs, personally prepare the medicine, and bring it over," Beckett instructed Caius.
Hearing that Michelle's illness could be cured, Caius was so excited that his hands trembled as he held the prescription.
After he left, Beckett began to administer acupuncture to Michelle. Although his movements were slow, they were steady, with a fluid and graceful feel.
Abigail watched from the side, secretly amazed.
Shee had never seen Darwin's acupuncture skills but had seen Caius's. Beckett, though seemingly ordinary, was unexpectedly skilled.
After inserting the last silver needle into Michelle's acupuncture point, Beckett let out a long breath and wiped his forehead, finding it covered in sweat.
Abigail quickly handed Beckett a wet wipe. Smiling, he used it to clean himself. About ten minutes later, he removed the needles one by one.
At the same time, Michelle slowly opened her eyes, her gaze clearer than ever.
Abigail quickly stepped forward to help Michelle up and asked with concern, "Mom, how do you feel?"
Michelle carefully sensed her condition and smiled. "I feel pretty good. I used to have cold hands and feet, but now it seems much better. My blood and energy are starting to flow smoothly."
Beckett nodded in satisfaction and said with a smile, "That's right. Besides the toxins in your body, you also had blood stasis. I've resolved that for you, and with medical treatment, you'll recover soon."
Michelle stood up and sincerely thanked Beckett, "Thank you so much. I've had this illness for so many years and thought it would never get better."
Caius brought the prepared medicine and personally fed it to Michelle before taking her to rest.He said, "Sir, treating Michelle will take some time. Please stay at the Worthington Mansion. I've already had a guest room prepared for you."
Beckett pondered for a moment and agreed with a smile. "Alright, I'm old and not suited for traveling back and forth."
He lived in a remote mountainous area. Although he had spent all his earnings on road construction and infrastructure over the years, it was still too remote compared to the metropolis.
After this trip, he would need some time to recuperate.
After sending Beckett back to his room, Caius went alone to the study balcony to smoke. Still reeling from today's emotional rollercoaster, his legs were weak, and he struggled to light his cigarette.
Halfway through his smoke, someone suddenly pushed open the door, and Abigail walked in.
Seeing Caius standing by the window, lost in thought, she pursed her lips and walked over.
