Chapter 240 Teach a Lesson
Gregory sneered and retorted, "Do you think I'm joking with you?"
Henry gave a dry laugh, quickly shook his head, and said, "Of course not, I'm just a bit surprised. After all, she is technically your niece-in-law."
Gregory's lips slowly curled into a cold, thin smile, and his words were even more ruthless. "What is she? If she dares to touch Abigail, I'll make her regret ever coming into this world."
Even through the phone, Henry shivered violently.
Gregory was still the vengeful, sinister, and ruthless person he had always been, showing no signs of change.
But then again, Gregory was never a good person. Only in front of Grace and Abigail would he show some restraint.
Henry took a deep breath and said, "Leave this matter to me. I promise to handle her thoroughly and cleanly."
"Alright," Gregory responded coldly and then hung up the phone.
Late at night, Jessica came out of the bar with her friends, said goodbye to each other, and prepared to go home.
Since that big fight, Roman had never returned home. No matter how many times she called, Roman never answered.
At first, she didn't care, because she knew better than anyone how much Roman loved her.
Therefore, she was even more convinced that no matter what happened, Roman would never leave her.
But as days went by, Roman still didn't come back, nor did he apologize to her as he used to.
At that moment, she panicked completely.
She was forced to swallow her pride and went to the White Group to find him, but all she received was a cold, "What are you doing here?"
That sentence deeply stung her, and she couldn't control her temper anymore, causing a scene at the White Group.
However, this time, Roman didn't indulge her or comfort her. Instead, he accused her of being immature and causing trouble.
She left in tears and arranged to meet her friends at a bar to drink.
Because she was in a bad mood, she drank a lot, which made her dizzy.
She quickly called a driver to pick her up.
Just as she finished the call, a familiar car pulled up in front of her.
Jessica, in her drunken state, didn't have time to think and got into the car directly.
The car started quickly but drove in the opposite direction.
Jessica leaned dizzily against the seat and took out her phone again to call Roman.
However, no one answered the phone.
"Roman, you bastard!" Jessica angrily threw her phone, hitting the car window.
The driver in the front heard the noise, glanced through the rearview mirror, but said nothing.
Jessica bent down to pick up her phone, but the car suddenly swerved, almost causing her to fall from the seat.
She quickly grabbed the handle on the car door and shouted angrily toward the front, "Do you even know how to drive? Be careful, or I'll dock your pay!"
Perhaps due to the influence of alcohol, Jessica's anger was magnified to the extreme, clouding her judgment and making her unlike her usual self.
The streetlights cast blurry shadows, making her already angry face look even more fierce.
The driver quickly apologized, "I'm really sorry, Ms. Martin. There was a puddle in front, and I didn't notice it."
Hearing the unfamiliar voice of the driver, Jessica was stunned. "Why haven't I seen you before?"
The driver maintained his expression and smiled, "The previous driver wasn't feeling well today and took a leave, so I'm filling in."
Jessica, hearing this, looked at the driver with disgust and disdain.
She said, "With driving skills like that, you should just go home. Do you know how important I am? If anything happens, can you bear the consequences?"
She had grown up under the protection of her parents. If something happened, who would take responsibility?
The driver apologized again, "Sorry, Ms. Martin. I'll be more careful from now on."
Jessica said, "You better be, or I'll make you regret it!"
The driver nodded repeatedly in agreement, and the rest of the journey was very smooth.
Jessica smiled in satisfaction and raised her chin arrogantly.
However, she didn't notice that the driver had already driven the car to a remote suburb.
About ten minutes later, the road became bumpy again.
Jessica suddenly opened her eyes and shouted angrily at the driver, "Do you even know how to drive? If you can't, get lost."
As soon as she finished speaking, she suddenly realized something was wrong.
This was not the direction to her home at all. It was pitch black all around, with only the car's headlights illuminating the way ahead.
It looked like there was a forest ahead.
And the road the driver was taking was very narrow, barely wide enough for one car to pass.
Jessica looked at the darkness outside the car window, feeling a wave of panic, and finally realized something was wrong. "Where is this? Where are you taking me?"
The driver's lips slowly curled into a cold smile. "Ms. Martin, you will find out soon enough."
Jessica shook her head vigorously and quickly tried to open the car door.
However, the door had already been locked by the driver, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't open it.
She then tried to open the window, but it wouldn't open either.
At this moment, she finally panicked and started banging on the window and the driver's seat. "Who are you? What do you want to do to me?"
The driver focused on driving and ignored her.
Jessica continued, "I warn you, I am Mrs. Jessica White of the White family. If anything happens to me, even if you die a hundred times, it won't be enough to make up for it."
"Oh? Is that so? Then it seems like I've made a good deal." The driver suddenly laughed, and his laughter sounded eerie in the dark night.
That cold laughter sent chills down her spine. Fear spread from her heart, and her hands trembled with tension.
Jessica swallowed hard, tears streaming down her face, and pleaded with the driver, "Don't do anything crazy! I'll give you whatever you want. I have plenty of money!"
As she spoke, she hurriedly took out a stack of cash from her bag and handed it to the driver.
The driver glanced at it indifferently, said nothing, and didn't take it.
Jessica pleaded, "Not enough? I have more. Please, just let me go. I'll give you anything you want!"
Jessica was truly scared. She rarely went out and had never encountered such a situation. She didn't even know where she was now.
The driver slowly stopped the car and said in a ghostly voice, "What if I say I don't want money, I just want your life?"
Jessica's heart jumped, and she quickly hugged herself tightly, curling up in the corner.
She silently shed tears and suddenly thought of something. She looked up sharply at the driver, "Who sent you? Was it that bitch Abigail?"
The driver didn't answer. Jessica felt she had guessed correctly. The more she thought about it, the more plausible it seemed!
'It must be Abigail! Only Abigail would do this so she could take Roman away!' thought Jessica.
