Chapter 356 Dad

Abigail shook her head with a smile and explained, "It's not that I don't like it, I really like the taste. Mom, your cooking skills are amazing."

Michelle, worried that Abigail was just saying that to make her happy, hesitated and asked, "Really?"

Abigail nodded emphatically. "Yes, really! If you don't believe me, ask Dad."

Abigail's voice was clear and soft, with a hint of sweetness, and her almond-shaped eyes sparkled.

Caius stared at her, feeling as if something had suddenly filled his heart, making it ache and swell.

Michelle noticed his daze and nudged him with a laugh. "What are you daydreaming about? Your daughter is talking to you."

Caius snapped out of it, moved his dry throat, and responded in a low voice.

He appeared extremely aloof, showing no signs of warmth.

Realizing his response was a bit cold and worried it might scare her, he thought for a moment, then took out his wallet and pulled out a limited edition black card.

"Take it and spend."

Abigail looked at the black card handed to her, even more surprised. "Are you really giving this to me? No take-backs."

"Take it."

Caius forced it into her hand. "You're my daughter. With this card, you can shop at any mall in Aerilon. Consider it a gift from me."

Abigail blinked and exchanged a glance with Michelle.

Seeing Michelle nod, Abigail didn't hesitate and accepted it. "Thanks, Dad!"

The way she called him "Dad" was incredibly sweet.

A hint of a smile appeared on Caius's usually expressionless face, but he quickly suppressed it.

"No need, it's not for you."

After saying that, as if afraid someone would notice his unusual expression, he quickly turned and left.

Michelle leaned close to Abigail's ear and whispered, "He's just embarrassed. Don't be fooled by his usual aloofness; he's actually soft-hearted."

Abigail laughed. So the cold, unfeeling Caius from the rumors had a childish, and surprisingly cute, side!

Caius, who had already left, turned to look back at the dining room and saw Abigail staring at his back, covering her mouth and giggling.

Her almond-shaped eyes sparkled brightly.

He lowered his gaze and chuckled softly. Back in the bedroom, he was the cold, stoic Caius again, as if the smile had never happened.

Gregory and Quinn exchanged a surprised look. As Caius's illegitimate son, Quinn had spent more time with him than anyone else. This was the first time he'd seen such a warm smile on Caius's face.

A few minutes later, Caius came into the living room.

Seeing Gregory and Quinn staring at him, Caius cleared his throat and said, "By the way, how long do you plan to stay here?"

Gregory replied coldly, "We originally planned to leave after finding Mom, but it looks like we won't be leaving anytime soon."

Understanding the implication, Caius felt a pang in his heart.

"Michelle can't go back with you. Aramore only brought her disaster and harm."

Gregory sneered. "Are you afraid your deeds will be exposed?"

Caius remained noncommittal.

At noon, Michelle invited them to stay for lunch, and Abigail eagerly agreed. She wanted to be with Michelle all the time. Caius felt a headache coming on—Michelle was his wife!

Seeing Caius holding his forehead, looking very tired, Abigail blinked innocently. "What's wrong with Dad? Don't you want us to stay for lunch?"

Caius remained silent.

Meeting Michelle's puzzled gaze, Caius felt helpless and gritted his teeth as he replied, "Yes, I do want you to stay. I'm thrilled."

Getting the answer she wanted, a sly look flashed in Abigail's eyes.

"Really? I knew Dad was the best!"

Hearing Abigail's praise for the first time, Caius was momentarily stunned, his frustration vanishing.

He thought, 'Oh well. She's still a child who's missed motherly love for so long. I decided to let her have her way.'

Caius called Aerilon's top restaurant, Flavor Fusion Palace, and ordered all their signature dishes. Owned by the prestigious Worthington family, the exclusive restaurant had no branches and employs only top-tier chefs. Even with money, getting a reservation was tough.

Gregory added at the right moment, "And add steak, donuts, and fish soup. Abigail loves them."

Hearing this, Caius nodded and told the person on the other end of the line. "Did you hear that? Give me your best. I'm entertaining important guests."

Flavor Fusion Palace was very efficient, and the food arrived in about an hour.

All the dishes were freshly made and kept warm in special containers.

When opened, they were all steaming hot.

Once the food was set, Michelle immediately pulled Abigail to sit at the table and kept serving her food.

"Abigail, you're too thin. Eat more."

"Okay, thanks, Mom. You eat too."

They served each other food, creating a very warm and harmonious scene.

However, the others didn't feel as happy. Seeing Michelle's attention entirely on Abigail, without even a glance at them, they felt a pang of jealousy.

Gregory felt the same.

The two men looked at their wife with resentment, then turned to each other, feeling a shared sense of bitterness.

While enjoying the food, Abigail didn't forget to observe the situation at the table.

Seeing the two men staring at them resentfully, she couldn't help but find it amusing.

She picked up a donut and placed it on Gregory's plate, saying sweetly, "Honey, you eat too."

Looking at the donut on his plate, Gregory's resentment instantly dissipated, and he smiled slightly. "Thanks, honey."

As he spoke, he didn't forget to glance at Caius with a look of pride, almost overflowing with a sense of showing off.

Caius fell silent instantly.

Was there anything more heartbreaking than this?

Michelle cared most about Abigail, and Abigail cared most about Gregory.

He was the only one being ignored.

No, wait, it seemed Quinn wasn't getting any attention either, which made him feel a bit better, but still somewhat frustrated.

Just as he was feeling aggrieved, a pair of utensils suddenly appeared in front of him.

Abigail had placed a donut on his plate. "Dad, you eat more too."

Caius was stunned for a long time, unable to react. So he got some too?

He looked up and met Abigail's sweet smile, and his cold heart instantly softened.

Michelle smiled and praised, "Abigail is so considerate. By the way, I have a gift for you too. Wait here."

Saying that, she put down her utensils and went upstairs.

After a while, Michelle returned with a delicate jewelry box in her hand. "This is a pink necklace Caius bought at an auction. The color is too light for someone my age, but it suits you perfectly."

Abigail opened the box and saw a rare and precious pink necklace, its crystal-clear beauty enhanced by the light.

Abigail instantly fell in love with it and quickly asked Michelle to help her put it on, "Mom, does it look good?"

"It looks great. This pink necklace suits you very well."

"Thanks, Mom!"

Receiving Michelle's praise, Abigail happily smiled, her little feet swinging under the table.

She leaned over and kissed Michelle on the cheek.
