Chapter 412 The Mastermind

The bodyguard quickly took out a wet wipe and handed it to him. Caius raised his hand to take it and wiped his hands back and forth several times, not even missing the gaps between his fingers.

Gregory had been watching from the side and gave Caius a faint smile. "As expected of the eldest son of the Worthington family, impressive."

Caius glanced at him disdainfully. "What's the use of being impressed? Learning a new skill is always a good move. Don't blame me for nagging. Abigail, as my daughter, is destined to have an extraordinary life. If you don't quickly make yourself stronger, you won't have the ability to protect her."

The smile on Gregory's lips slowly disappeared, replaced by a heavy and serious expression that was hard to ignore. "Don't worry, I will."

Between men, there's often no need for many words. Sometimes, just a look was enough to understand what the other was thinking.

Caius sensed his determination and nodded. "Smart move. Next, I will definitely have conflicts with Emrys and Cassian. You should take Abigail back to Aerilon, away from all this strife."

Gregory stood still and said in a low voice, "I can help you."

Caius suddenly laughed. "No need. Even though I've stepped down as the head of the Worthington family, it doesn't mean I haven't built up any power."

"I'll allocate some of the Frost family bodyguards." Worried that Caius would refuse, Gregory added, "It's not for you. Abigail wouldn't want to see Mom get hurt."

When it came to Michelle, Caius quickly compromised. "Alright, this time I'll owe you a favor. I'll repay you when I get the chance."

Gregory didn't say anything, but he didn't intend to collect on that favor either.

Caius was the father of his fiancée, so helping him was only natural.

After reaching an agreement, the two drove back home.

Seeing them return, Abigail quickly came out to greet them. "How did it go? Did you find out anything?"

Gregory nodded. "It's so late, why haven't you rested yet? Don't forget, you have a baby in your belly."

Abigail opened her mouth to say something, but Caius also advised, "Yes, go back. Gregory and I are here."

Abigail looked at Gregory, then at Caius, knowing they were deliberately keeping something from her. She didn't ask further and turned to go upstairs.

After Abigail left, Michelle sat down next to Caius. "What's going on? Why do you both look so serious?"

Caius and Gregory exchanged a glance and played a video of the man who drugged Darwin confessing. Michelle fell silent.

She said, "Cassian, how could he be so heartless? That's his biological father!"

Caius sneered. "In the face of profit, there's no family loyalty. They want to inherit more of the estate, even the entire Worthington family. Such a huge temptation, how could they resist?"

Michelle pursed her lips and asked, "What are you planning to do?"

Despite disliking Cassian and Linnea, they were Darwin's children and Caius's siblings. Informing Darwin was risky due to his fragile health. Caius lowered his head in silence.

After a long silence, Gregory finally spoke, "I think we should tell Grandpa. He's lived a long life and faced countless difficulties. Besides, he's the one involved and has the most right to decide how to deal with Cassian."

Caius was silent for a long time before finally taking a deep breath and saying, "Gregory is right. Tomorrow, I'll go to the hospital and tell Dad about this. Alright, that's settled. Gregory, you should go back and be with Abigail. We should also rest."

Gregory stared at Caius for a moment, seeing no change in his expression, nodded, and went upstairs.

In the living room, only Caius and Michelle were left. Michelle tightly held his hand and pulled him into her embrace. "Don't think too much. Things have come to this point, which means Cassian never had any family feelings. You don't need to accommodate them."

She knew that although Caius appeared cold, he was deeply emotional inside.

Caius buried his face in Michelle's shoulder, holding her without saying a word.

After a long time, he stood up, took Michelle's hand, and returned to their room. "Let's go to rest."

The next morning, Caius took Abigail and Gregory to the hospital.

Things went more smoothly than they had imagined because Darwin had already guessed what they were going to say the moment they appeared.

As Gregory had said, Darwin was stronger than they had imagined.

Darwin asked, "Have you figured it out? Is it Emrys or Cassian?"

Although it was a question, the tone was affirmative, as if he already knew the answer.

"Cassian," Caius replied.

Darwin nodded, not surprised. "If that's the case, then how to deal with it is up to you, Caius. After I'm gone, the Worthington family will rely on you."

"Grandpa, don't say such things. I haven't had the chance to be filial to you yet." Abigail's eyes reddened, feeling sad.

Darwin held Abigail's hand and smiled. "Abigail, you've been wronged. You should have rightfully been the eldest daughter of the Worthington family, and your name should have been Abigail Worthington. But all this was denied to you because of your father's selfishness."

Abigail shook her head and smiled. "It's okay, I don't care about that. I'm already very satisfied that Mom is alive and I have the fatherly and grandfatherly love I always longed for."

Darwin trembled as he reached out to gently stroke her soft hair, his eyes also moist. "Good child."

He looked at Caius and said coldly, "This is all your fault. I can tolerate your antics, but there has to be a limit."

Caius didn't dare to resist. "Whatever you say."

The rebellious Caius, for the first time, didn't argue or resist but chose to comply in front of Darwin.

Suppressing the bitterness in his heart, Darwin warned, "I only give you five years. Abigail missed out on over 20 years of her life because of your selfishness. As her father, you owe her."

Caius lowered his head and said, "I know what to do."

Darwin's final command was clear: within five years, Caius must reveal Abigail as his biological daughter and a true Worthington. This was his paternal duty.
