Chapter 477 Do You Still Have Feelings for Roman?
Smiling bitterly, Roman reflected on how leaving the White family and losing his status had shattered his arrogance. Enduring these hardships, he finally realized how blissful those carefree days under Gregory's protection had been.
Unfortunately, there was no going back.
He said, "Gregory, I have something to do, so I'll be leaving now."
After saying that, he didn't dare to look Gregory in the eyes again and hurriedly walked away.
Gregory stared at his back, his eyes dark and unreadable, until Abigail tugged at his sleeve, bringing him back to reality.
"Let's go, we're going to eat." He grabbed Abigail's slender hand and started to leave.
But Abigail stood still, giving him a look. "Wait here for a moment."
Gregory didn't know what she intended to do but stopped anyway.
The next second, Abigail pushed open the door of the adjacent private room and walked in. "Mr. Thorne, even though Roman is no longer part of the White family, he still carries the blood. No matter how low he falls, it's not your place to humiliate him."
Brad looked at her, his eyes wide with fear. "Mr. White, Mrs. White."
Gregory walked in, glanced around the room, and said in a deep voice, "I remember the Thorne Group has a project they want to collaborate on with the White Group?"
Brad's heart sank, his face turning pale as he frantically pleaded, "Mr. White, I didn't mean it that way. We really need this project."
Gregory sneered, cutting him off, "If you want it, stop taking shortcuts and first deal with your company's issues of cutting corners and using substandard suppliers."
Turning pale and breaking into a cold sweat, Brad wondered how Gregory knew.
Gregory gave him a deep look, said no more, and left the room with Abigail.
Although he didn't like Roman, that was still his nephew, and not just anyone could bully him.
Moreover, the Thorne family initially chose Roman as Rachel's fiancé to curry favor with the White family. Seeing no hope of his return, they wanted to discard him. Such a family wasn't worth collaborating with, and canceling the engagement might actually be good for Roman.
Brad stood there helplessly, his heart sinking to the bottom.
It was over, completely over.
Back in their reserved private room, Abigail couldn't help but ask Gregory, "Are you worried about Roman?"
Gregory's face was expressionless, his tone indifferent. "No."
Abigail snorted, resting her chin on one hand, looking at him leisurely. "Really? Because it seems to me that you are."
Gregory gave her a sidelong glance and suddenly asked, "Just now, when you rushed in, was it to stand up for Roman? Do you still have feelings for him?"
Abigail's eyes widened in shock. "Gregory, how dare you turn the tables on me!"
Seeing that Gregory couldn't bear it but didn't want to lose face, she took the initiative, doing it all for him. Unexpectedly, Gregory not only didn't appreciate it but also shirked responsibility!
Looking at Abigail's angry face, Gregory couldn't help but laugh. "Alright, alright, I know you did it for me. Actually, it's not that I couldn't bear it, I just felt emotional."
In just a few short months, Roman seemed to have completely changed.
Previously, he had always disliked Roman for taking Abigail away and even wished to see him make a fool of himself, hoping Abigail would see his true colors and cancel the engagement.
But now, that day had really come, and Gregory didn't feel as happy as he thought he would.
He sighed helplessly. "After all, I watched him grow up, and he called me uncle for so many years. Although I won't actively help him, I won't stand by and watch him be humiliated."
Abigail knew that Gregory was just outwardly cold and unapproachable, but in reality, he was kinder than anyone.
She smiled and threw herself into his arms, softly comforting him, "I know, I know all of this. No matter what decision you make, I will unconditionally support you."
Hearing Abigail's words, Gregory felt a wave of emotion in his heart and hugged her tightly.
Soon, the restaurant's waiter came in and handed them the menu. "Sir, ma'am, here is the menu. Please take a look."
Hearing the familiar voice, Abigail looked up in surprise, and when she saw Maeve, she was stunned. "Oh? Are you working here again recently?"
Maeve nodded with a smile. "Yes, thanks to Mr. Worthington. He helped me get this job. I'm very happy working here, and the pay is good."
Exchanging puzzled looks, Abigail and Gregory wondered since when Quinn started meddling in others' business. He used to ignore anyone irrelevant to him.
Thinking of this, Abigail couldn't help but scrutinize the woman in front of her.
She had to admit, although Maeve had a soft and seemingly easy-to-bully personality, she had a very pretty face.
Her features weren't stunning, but there was an indescribable gentleness that made people feel comfortable.
Especially when she smiled, with her lips slightly pursed and the corners of her mouth upturned, she naturally attracted attention.
Suddenly, an unbelievable thought flashed through Abigail's mind: Could Quinn have fallen for Maeve?
