Chapter 190 Picking Up My Wife from Work
After breakfast, Abigail tweaked the draft she'd been working on the night before and didn't head to the office until the afternoon.
Gregory was worried about her driving alone, so he set her up with a driver. If he couldn't be there, the driver would take care of it.
So, even though Abigail had only been at DM for a few days, everyone knew how much Gregory cared about her.
Not just the folks at DM, but even the people at the White Group noticed something was up.
If Gregory had started working regular hours after getting married, now he was even leaving early.
For the old Gregory, this was unheard of!
At first, no one could believe it because everyone knew how much Gregory loved his work.
But ever since he got married, Abigail had taken the top spot in Gregory's heart, pushing work aside.
There was supposed to be an event tonight, with all the big shots of Aramore who had invited Gregory.
There were CEOs of real estate companies, chairmen of leading pharmaceutical companies, and presidents of film companies.
But Gregory didn't even blink and told Leo to cancel the event.
The reason was that he wanted to pick up his wife from work.
When the business moguls heard this casual excuse, they were almost shocked. They could hardly imagine that the cold, indifferent Gregory could be so loyal.
It was simply unbelievable!
If it were anyone else, they would have been laughed at for being so naive. However, it was Gregory.
With the White Group's immense financial power and background, no one dared to provoke him and could only silently suppress their urge to curse.
After all, they held this event just to meet Gregory and find an opportunity to discuss cooperation.
If he didn't come, what was there to talk about?
The CEOs could only force a smile and say, "Mr. White is unavailable? That's okay. We'll reschedule!"
When Gregory arrived, Abigail was in a meeting with the design department, showing her design drafts to everyone.
Everyone in the company was top-notch, especially Tom, whose work was almost flawless.
Seeing Abigail's design drafts, Tom's eyes lit up with admiration. "Not bad, as expected from RY, the designs are still so unique."
Although men's clothing was mostly plain, Abigail enjoyed adding unique designs to the details. Each piece was perfect.
Abigail calmly and confidently accepted everyone's compliments, smiling but without a hint of modesty.
She had great confidence in her designs.
Besides, Gregory had already said all these compliments yesterday.
So she wasn't surprised.
But to the employees, it had a different meaning. Everyone looked at Abigail with increased admiration and respect. True to her reputation, Abigail remained composed and calm, even in the face of so much praise.
If it were them, they would have been overjoyed!
After the meeting, Tom called out to Abigail, "Ms. Martin, I want to talk to you alone."
Abigail glanced at him and signaled the others to leave first.
Seeing Abigail's expression, the employees quickly packed up their stuff and left the room.
They even thoughtfully closed the door on their way out.
They had long noticed the tension between Tom and Abigail.
Although Abigail usually showed Tom respect, it was strictly professional.
Outside of work, she kept her distance, almost like she had "keep away" written on her forehead.
But it was unclear what Tom was thinking, as he seemed intent on getting close to Abigail.
In the conference room, Abigail sat back in her chair, looking at Tom indifferently. "Alright, what do you want to talk about?"
"Ms. Martin, there's no need to be so tense; I won't bite." Tom folded his hands and casually placed them on the table, looking at Abigail with a smile.
When he smiled, his whole demeanor seemed gentle, and his deep eyes looked harmless.
But Abigail knew it was all just a facade. "I don't have time to chat with you, get to the point."
Abigail tapped the table lightly with her pen, making a crisp sound.
Tom didn't hesitate any longer and said what he wanted to say, "I just want to talk to you about Gregory. Do you really know him? Do you know what kind of person he truly is?"
Abigail replied, "Of course, he's my husband. I know him better than anyone."
Perhaps Abigail's tone was too firm, Tom paused for a moment and then laughed. "Do you really know him? Do you know he has mental issues? Is someone like that really worth spending your life with?"
Hearing his words, Abigail was shocked.
Gregory's past psychological issues had been well-hidden, and only those very close to him would know. So how did Tom know?
"Are you wondering how I know?" Tom smiled at Abigail.
Abigail quickly masked her surprise and returned to her calm demeanor. "I'm a bit surprised, but I don't want to know. Do you have anything else to say? If not, I'll be leaving."
"What if I told you Gregory is a murderer? Would you still love him the same?"
Abigail was about to leave when she heard Tom's words.
She paused and looked at him coldly. "What exactly are you trying to say?"
Tom seemed pleased with her reaction and smirked. "It seems you don't know. You can go back and ask Gregory what he did back then."
Despite her growing unease, Abigail remained outwardly calm. "Do you think I would believe your nonsense?"
Tom leaned back and said meaningfully, "Believe it or not, it's up to you. But don't say I didn't warn you, Gregory is a psychopath. Aren't you worried that being with him might harm you in the future?"
Abigail slammed the documents on the table and slowly approached Tom, whispering in his ear, "This is my last warning. Stop trying to drive a wedge between us, it won't work. And his illness is cured. If anything, you seem more like the one with mental issues."
With that, Abigail didn't look at Tom's expression, gathered her documents, and left the conference room.
Tom watched her leave, a smirk slowly forming on his lips.
'Interesting,' Tom thought. 'For someone as cold and detached as Gregory to find such a good girl, it's enviable. I'm so jealous, I almost want to ruin it!'
