Chapter 293 Everything is Retribution
Abigail lowered her eyes and said nothing.
David also looked puzzled. He couldn't figure out where the money had gone.
Susan whispered, "I remember now. I was originally in charge of that money, but later..."
As she spoke, she glanced at David, hesitating to continue.
David immediately pressed, "What happened next? Just tell me!"
What was Susan hesitating about?
Susan bit her lip and continued, "Later, Mrs. Kayle Martin said she and Ms. Jessica Martin had their eyes on a luxury handbag that cost $300,000, so they diverted the money. Mrs. Kayle Martin warned me that if I dared to speak out about it, she would fire me. At that time, I wasn't with you yet, and I was afraid of losing my job, so I kept it a secret."
After hearing this, everyone present fell silent.
Using someone else's life-saving money to buy a handbag—how ironic?
Abel was even more deeply affected and roared, "I knew it! I knew you rich people are all cold-hearted! No matter what, I will leak those photos. Just you wait!"
Actually, the money belonged to David, and it was up to him to decide whether to give it or not. No one else had the right to interfere.
But Abel, after gaining hope and then falling into despair, gradually became twisted in his mind.
Abigail stared at the disconnected phone, feeling a bit complicated.
She glanced at Leo, asking with her eyes. Leo nodded at her. "Mrs. White, Abel's location has been confirmed. I've already sent subordinates to capture him."
Abigail nodded and then looked at David. "Are you satisfied with the trouble you've caused?"
David opened his mouth, wanting to retort, but then closed it again.
After everything that had happened recently, he was more afraid of Abigail than ever.
Abigail withdrew her gaze and said to Leo, "Take David back to the hospital." She then paused and said to David, "This matter ends here. From now on, we have nothing to do with each other. As long as you don't come looking for trouble, I won't go out of my way to provoke you."
David gave Abigail a deep look and was helped out of the cemetery.
He didn't have no feelings for Abigail; it was just that fate had played a cruel joke on them.
Fortunately, he still had Jessica and the child in Susan's belly.
From now on, as long as they behaved, they could barely get by.
After David left, Gregory pulled Abigail into his arms, gently rubbing her chin with his own to comfort her. "Don't overthink it. Everything will get better."
"Yes, it will get better." Abigail buried her face in Gregory's chest, her eyes somewhat dim.
An hour later, Gregory took Abigail to a villa in the suburbs.
The place was remote, and Gregory rarely came here, so it seemed very deserted.
But fortunately, a cleaning lady often came to tidy up, so there was almost no dust inside.
Gregory pulled Abigail to sit on the sofa, coldly staring at the disheveled middle-aged man kneeling on the ground.
The man was dressed in black, with a lean build and a face full of stubble, looking very haggard. He was tied up with ropes and looked extremely pitiful.
This man was Abel.
Abel knelt on the ground in a panic, begging for mercy. "Are you people sent by David? I know I was wrong, I really know I was wrong. Please forgive me, I was just driven to desperation."
He still couldn't understand how these people had found him so quickly.
He had hidden in a very secluded, sparsely populated place.
It was precisely because of this that Abel found Abigail and Gregory terrifying.
Abigail gave Leo a look, and Leo immediately understood. He grabbed Abel by the collar with one hand and searched him thoroughly with the other.
Soon, a stack of photos was handed to Abigail.
