Chapter 284 Fainting from Anger

Abigail looked surprised, somewhat in disbelief.

She can't help but thought, 'Didn't Kayla always claim to love David the most? How could she be secretly dating other men?'

Abigail opened her phone and clicked on today's news, and sure enough, the internet was flooded with news about Kayla dating men.

There were not only news articles but also many high-definition photos.

Kayla was seen entering and leaving hotels with several men, behaving intimately.

In the most recent incident, two comparison photos were published. She looked glamorous and refined when she went in, but disheveled and with visible bruises when she came out.

Staring at these messages, for some reason, Gregory's words from a few days ago popped into Abigail's mind.

He said he had found dirt on Kayla and that it would be revealed in a few days.

Abigail tightly gripped her phone, feeling an indescribable sense of gratitude.

In this world, only Gregory loved her wholeheartedly and couldn't bear to see her suffer.

Lily quietly observed Abigail's reaction, feeling a bit puzzled, 'Shouldn't this be something to be happy about? Why doesn't Ms. Martin look happy? Could it be that she still has some sympathy for Kayla?'

Thinking this might be the case, Lily clenched her fists and reminded her, "Ms. Martin, people like Kayla don't deserve any sympathy. She got what she deserved! You mustn't be soft-hearted!"

Abigail snapped out of it and couldn't help but smile. "I know, don't worry. I won't be soft-hearted."

Kayla's downfall was just her own doing.

Abigail wouldn't play the kind person, nor would she sympathize with those who conspired to harm her, tried to take her property, and slandered Mechelle.

Abigail's eyes twinkled with an idea. "Lily, come here."

Lily blinked, wondering why Abigail's smile was so frightening. But she still walked over.

Abigail motioned for her to lower her head and whispered a few words in her ear.

Lily's eyes widened instantly. "Do we really have to do this?"

She was scared!

Abigail gently patted her shoulder, softly reassuring her, "It's okay, I'm not asking you to commit a crime. Besides, there are police officers at the station. What are you afraid of?"

If she didn't have a meeting to attend, she would have gone herself.

Lily nervously swallowed, clenched her fists, and her face turned red. "Okay, I'll go!"

She was willing to do anything for Abigail!

Half an hour later, Lily took a cab to the entrance of Aramore Prison.

She was sweating nervously the whole way, but before getting out of the car, she didn't forget to ask the driver for a receipt.

Abigail said she would reimburse her expenses, and she couldn't forget that!

But as soon as she went in, she regretted it a bit. The environment wasn't as bad as she had imagined, but there was an indescribable eeriness.

As someone who had been obedient and well-behaved since birth, Lily had never thought she would one day see the inside of a prison.

She clutched her bag tightly and, under the guidance of a prison guard, arrived at the visiting room.

Soon, David was brought out.

Seeing Lily, David's eyes flashed with surprise. "Why is it you? Where's Abigail?"

"Ms. Martin is in a meeting and specifically asked me to see you," Lily replied.

Seeing David again made Lily very nervous, wishing she could disappear immediately.

David sneered, his eyes filled with mockery. "What? She doesn't dare to see me herself? Is she scared?"

Lily, a staunch defender of Abigail, would not allow anyone to slander her idol.

She couldn't understand why David, as a father, treated Abigail like an enemy.

"Mr. David Martin, no matter how unwilling you are to admit it, Ms. Martin remains the best and most outstanding person. Despite your indifference all these years, she has continued to strive and live her life. You have no right to slander her," Lily asserted.

David hadn't taken Lily seriously, but hearing this, he couldn't help but look at her differently. "Abigail is becoming more and more like that detestable Mechelle, good at manipulating people."

Lily's face turned red with anger. She threw a stack of documents from her bag and said coldly, "Mr. David Martin, you have no right to insult Ms. Martin's mother. This is what Ms. Martin asked me to give you. Take a good look at it yourself."

With that, she didn't want to stay a moment longer and quickly got up to leave.

David sneered and picked up the documents. He wanted to see what Abigail was up to.

However, when he saw the contents of the documents, he was stunned.

His previously nonchalant expression turned to shock, his face grew darker, and the veins on his forehead bulged with anger.

David cursed under his breath and slammed his fist on the table. "Kayla, you bitch, how dare you date other men behind my back!"

His heart ached with sharp pain, and he tightly gripped the documents, crumpling the thin paper.

Within half a minute, his vision began to darken, he felt dizzy, and his chest felt blocked, making it hard to breathe.

Soon, he completely lost consciousness and collapsed heavily.

At the prison entrance, Lily finally managed to hail another cab. Just as the car started, she heard a commotion inside.

An ambulance was approaching, and it seemed something serious had happened.

She instructed the driver to wait for a moment, and soon she saw doctors and nurses pushing David out and into the ambulance.

She gasped in shock, feeling very scared.

'Oh no, did I just anger David to death? Would I be held responsible?'

Trembling, she took out her phone and called Abigail for help. "Ms. Martin, I think I might have angered David to death!"

On the other end of the line, Abigail was stunned. "What?"

Lily cried miserably and repeated, "I just saw the ambulance take David away."

Abigail pinched her brow and gently reassured her, "Don't be afraid, I'll have someone find out right away. Don't worry, can you come back on your own?"

Lily sniffled and replied, "Yes."

After hanging up, Abigail immediately called Leo and asked him to check on David's condition.

David's death wasn't a problem, but they couldn't let it implicate Lily.

Leo was efficient and found out the results within ten minutes. "Mrs. White, David just had a heart attack, nothing serious."

There was even a hint of regret in his tone.

David's life was really tenacious; he hadn't died yet.

Abigail, however, breathed a sigh of relief. "It's good that he's okay. It's my fault; I shouldn't have sent Lily to the police station."

"Lily?" Leo was taken aback and asked, "You mean your new assistant Lily? She went to the prison?"

Abigail nodded and briefly explained what had happened.

Leo pondered for a moment and said seriously, "How about I go pick her up? I guarantee to bring her back to you safely."

Abigail, already troubled by David's situation, agreed without hesitation.

She didn't know that Lily had already caught Leo's attention.
