Chapter 264 Can Be Even More Rogue
Gregory gently rubbed the top of Abigail's head and softly reassured her, "It's human nature to seek benefits and avoid harm. Although David hasn't given Susan a formal status, he's always treated her well. It's understandable that she would do things for him."
Abigail nodded, still feeling down.
Gregory didn't say anything, just quietly waited for Abigail to process her emotions and accept everything.
This was a necessary part of Abigail's growth, something she needed to figure out on her own.
Even though the process might be painful, one must break out of the cocoon to become a butterfly.
He could have handled everything and kept Abigail completely under his wing, but that wasn't what Abigail wanted.
She never needed to rely on others to live; she had always overcome numerous difficulties.
If she wanted to go higher and stand further, she had to go through these hardships.
Otherwise, she would fall even harder in the future.
After a long while, Abigail finally moved.
She took a deep breath, slowly adjusted her state, and looked at Gregory. "Mr. White, I'm hungry."
Gregory smiled, his long fingers curling slightly. "Alright, I'll take you to eat your favorite steak, okay?"
Abigail thought for a moment and then shook her head. "Not steak today, let's have some other cuisine."
"Alright, whatever you say." Gregory started the car and turned in another direction.
Abigail quietly watched Gregory's profile, feeling a warm current rise in her heart. "Mr. White, thank you."
Gregory always seemed to know what she wanted most and never interfered with her decisions.
Whenever she needed support and companionship the most, no matter how busy he was, he would unhesitatingly drop everything to be with her.
Noticing Abigail's intense gaze, Gregory's grip on the steering wheel tightened, and his Adam's apple, hidden under his tie, moved slightly as if he was trying hard to restrain something.
In a hoarse voice, he said slowly, "Mrs. White, if you keep staring at me like that, are you trying to make me get intimate with you on the road?"
Abigail was stunned at first, and when she understood the meaning behind his words, her cheeks instantly turned red.
"Shameless!" Abigail shouted.
Gregory raised an eyebrow, his thin lips curling into a meaningful smile. "I can be even more shameless. Do you want to try?"
Abigail glared at him angrily. "Gregory, keep your eyes on the road and focus on driving!"
"Don't worry, honey, don't you know my driving skills by now?" Gregory asked. How could he possibly joke about Abigail's safety?
Listening to Gregory's suggestive words, Abigail quietly covered her ears, her cheeks burning as if set ablaze, hot and fiery.
Seeing Abigail fall silent, Gregory glanced at her and, noticing her flushed face, chuckled softly.
Abigail was good in every way, except she was too easily embarrassed, unable to handle even a single romantic word.
After a torturous wait, the car finally arrived at the restaurant, and Abigail let out a sigh of relief, quickly getting out of the car.
Watching her almost flee, Gregory laughed softly and followed her out.
They found a corner spot in the restaurant and started ordering.
Even so, their presence still attracted a lot of attention.
Gregory and Abigail, just standing there, could become a beautiful sight.
Moreover, their well-dressed appearance, though not showing any brands, clearly indicated high value.
As a result, many diners kept glancing toward the corner, their eyes filled with curiosity.
Some even took out their phones to take pictures and record videos.
Abigail was already used to this, so she just glanced around indifferently and quickly withdrew her gaze.
But Gregory frowned.
He wasn't worried about his photos being posted online; he just didn't like being stared at like that.
So, he usually booked a private room when dining out.
Unfortunately, this restaurant was too small to have private rooms, so they had to sit outside if they wanted to eat here.
Gregory lifted his eyes and glanced around coldly.
His gaze was filled with a strong sense of menace, as cold and sharp as an eagle's, making people afraid to look directly at him.
Many were intimidated by his powerful aura and quickly looked away.
Finally satisfied, Gregory poured Abigail a glass of water and waited for the waiter to serve the food.
Abigail propped her chin with one hand and scrolled through her phone with the other. The news online was still fermenting.
The company that bought the design drafts firmly denied that these drafts belonged to DM Group.
DM had yet to produce evidence, and the other company was adamant, so public opinion online was against DM.
Many extreme fans even went to DM's official account to post insulting comments.
[How can you be so shameless, using your status as a big company to pull such tricks?]
[Abigail has only been in charge for a short time and has already caused so much trouble. I think she's completely incompetent!]
[Calling her incompetent is an insult to the incompetent. She's just a woman who climbed to the top by relying on a man.]
[I heard Zenith Innovations Group is going to collaborate with DM. Is this another case of advancing through improper relationships?]
[Mr. White must be blind to see anything in her. Once he sees her true colors, he'll definitely kick her out soon!]
Reading the online comments, Abigail frowned slightly.
She knew there would be many irrational netizens, but she didn't expect the insults to be so harsh.
She couldn't understand why these people harbored such malice toward her.
They didn't know each other, nor did they have any conflicts of interest.
As she was thinking, a well-defined hand suddenly appeared in front of her and took her phone away.
Abigail looked up and met Gregory's deep, dark eyes.
"It's better not to look at these things too much, so they don't affect your mood," Gregory said.
Abigail knew Gregory was concerned about her and couldn't help but smile. "I'm fine. No matter how harsh their words are, they can't affect me. I know who I am and what I've done."
She was more curious than anything, wondering why these people were so bored and always slandering others without knowing the truth.
As for feeling sad or upset? Not at all.
Seeing that Abigail's expression was indeed unchanged, Gregory quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
He explained, "Some people are unhappy with their own lives and can't stand seeing others doing better. They even think everything others have achieved is through improper means. You don't need to pay attention to them."
With that, he turned off the phone.
Abigail nodded lightly and focused on her meal.
