Chapter 227 Deliberate Provocation

Up until now, they hadn't really grasped how serious things had gotten. They rushed over, practically begging, "Director, we messed up. We won't do it again. Please, help us out here!"

Another chimed in, "Yeah, we can't lose this job!"

Someone else added, "We'll delete the posts right now. Whatever Ms. Martin decides, we'll take it, just don't fire us."

The HR director shot them a cold look and said, "Now you're scared?"

They just stood there, heads down, not saying a word.

At the time, they had treated it as harmless gossip, never imagining it would escalate like this. They thought Abigail would never read the forum. She even got rid of the anonymous setting.

They used to hide behind anonymity, always talking about the female employees on the forum. They got a kick out of gossiping about women, watching them squirm, never getting caught. It was their twisted fun.

But now, karma had come knocking. They finally got what it meant to reap what you sow.

After work, Abigail called Gregory. The phone barely rang once before he picked up, like he was waiting for her call.

"Abigail?" His deep, husky voice was incredibly sexy and soothing.

All of Abigail's bottled-up feelings came rushing out. She bit her lip hard, staying silent. She was scared that if she spoke, Gregory would know something was up.

But she underestimated Gregory's instincts.

"Abigail, what's wrong?" Gregory asked quickly.

"Nothing." Abigail sniffled, trying to keep her voice steady.

Gregory was quiet for a moment, then said, "Open the door."

Abigail was stunned, not getting it. "What?"

"I'm outside," Gregory said.

Abigail looked at the door, her heart pounding. She quickly got up and opened the office door, and there was Gregory, tall and strong.

Abigail blinked in surprise, feeling like she was dreaming. "Mr. White, how did you get here so fast?"

Gregory stepped in and pulled her into his arms. "I came a while ago, but I didn't want to interrupt your work, so I waited."

Abigail stared at him, tears streaming down. "Mr. White, why are you so good to me?"

Seeing her cry, Gregory panicked and cupped her cheeks, asking, "What's wrong? Did someone bully you?"

Abigail shook her head and nestled into his arms. "Just let me hold you for a bit."

In front of others, she never showed her vulnerable side. She knew how tough the path she chose was. Even though people at the company seemed friendly, she knew they might be plotting against her behind her back. But the tougher it got, the more she had to prove she was stronger, even as a woman.

Yet Gregory broke down all her walls with just one sentence.

Abigail wrapped her arms tightly around Gregory's waist, nuzzling into his embrace. Gregory stood still, letting her hold him, his warm hand gently stroking her hair, silently comforting her.

When Abigail had cried enough, she lifted her head from his chest, her eyes red, looking pitiful without saying a word.

Gregory gently touched her cheek and asked again, "Why are you crying like this? Your eyes are all puffy."

Abigail grabbed his sleeve and wiped her tears, feeling a bit down. "It's nothing, just feeling a bit stressed."

Gregory was quiet for a moment, then intertwined his fingers with hers and headed for the door. "Let's go home."

"Okay!" Abigail let Gregory lead her, a small smile forming on her lips.

As soon as they walked into Maple Residence, a delicious aroma hit them. Her eyes lit up, and she let go of Gregory's hand, quickly heading to the dining room.

"Ralph, what did you cook today? It smells amazing!" Abigail exclaimed.

"Mrs. White, you're back? Come and see, it's all your favorite dishes. Mr. White made sure they were ready before you got home."

Hearing Ralph's words, Abigail was surprised and turned to Gregory. "Mr. White, when did you arrange this? How come I didn't know?"

Gregory's lips curved into a slight smile. "Take a guess."

Abigail pouted and gave him a playful glare, deciding not to press further.

Gregory's smile grew as he led her to the bathroom to wash their hands. He stood behind her, his tall frame enveloping her in his embrace. His hands wrapped around hers, squeezing out hand soap and rubbing them gently.

Abigail could feel the warmth from his palms and the intense heat from his body above her. This warm, beautiful moment was something Abigail had never dared to dream of before.

Gregory's presence felt like salvation to her, a guiding light. From childhood to now, besides Michelle, no one had ever shown her such care. But Gregory constantly showed through his actions how much he loved her.

A warm feeling surged in Abigail's heart. She looked up and kissed Gregory's chin. Gregory was taken aback and instinctively looked down, seeing Abigail blinking her innocent eyes at him.

His Adam's apple moved, and his voice was deep and husky. "If you still want to eat, don't provoke me right now."

Abigail snorted softly and retorted, "I didn't!"

It was just a kiss, right? When did she provoke him?

Gregory looked down, his lips curving into a faint smile. "Really? It seems Mrs. White doesn't realize her own charm."

Abigail opened her mouth to say something, but her chin was lifted by a hand dripping with water, and a kiss followed.

Abigail let out a small cry, instinctively wanting to push him away, but Gregory's arms were like iron, holding her tightly, not letting her escape. Her lips and teeth were pried open and quickly conquered, her breath gradually filled with Gregory's unique cool scent.

She didn't know how long it had been, but Abigail felt her breath being gradually taken away. Her lips, which had been sucked and licked forcefully, tingled with a numb sensation.

Gregory was no longer satisfied with just kissing. His large hand slipped under her clothes, resting on her soft, full chest.

Their lips and teeth intertwined, breaths mingling, and the small space was filled with the scent of love.

Just then, a knock on the door suddenly sounded. "Mr. and Mrs. White, dinner is ready."

Abigail was the first to come to her senses, her face flushed red, and she reached out to pinch Gregory's waist, saying, "Don't open the door."
