Chapter 125 The Guilty Party Files the Complaint First
Olivia left the café feeling down, dodging mocking stares.
To make her act believable, she had even thrown herself down the stairs, ending up bruised all over.
But instead of causing a rift between Abigail and Gregory, Olivia just ended up looking pitiful.
Frustrated, she stomped her foot, only to worsen her injuries and gasp in pain.
She headed to a nearby hospital to get checked out.
...
By the time Olivia left, it was already evening.
Out of the blue, Rex called.
Before Olivia could say anything, he began yelling, "Olivia, what did you do? I told you to make up with Mr. White! Now he's rejected all our design proposals!
"Do you know how long we've waited for this chance? You blew it!
"I don't care what you do, go apologize to Mr. White right now!"
Olivia, shocked, stammered, "What? All rejected?"
Her legs went weak, and she almost collapsed.
Gregory's parting words flashed in her mind.
Rex's voice got sharper, "Olivia, the White Group doesn't want you as the designer. Apologize now or resign!"
She wanted to say more, but Rex hung up on her.
Fuming, Olivia threw her phone to the ground and stomped on it until it shattered.
After calming down, she decided to take a cab to the White Manor to find Elaine but realized she had no cash.
Frustrated, she looked at her broken phone.
By the time she got home, it was midnight.
Exhausted, she went straight to bed.
...
The next morning, Olivia grabbed her car keys and headed to the White Manor.
Elaine was surprised to see her. "Olivia, why are you here so early?"
"Aunt Elaine..." Olivia's emotions overwhelmed her as she saw Elaine, and she threw herself into Elaine's arms, sobbing.
Elaine, alarmed by Olivia's red eyes and dark circles, asked, "Olivia, what happened? Did someone hurt you? Tell me, and I'll take care of it!"
Olivia shook her head, biting her lip, staying silent.
Elaine pulled her into the living room, "Olivia, what's wrong? Don't make me worry."
Olivia cried and told her everything from the day before, leaving out the part where she had fallen on purpose to frame Abigail.
Elaine assumed Abigail had pushed Olivia and that Gregory had defended her.
Furious, she gritted her teeth, "I knew Abigail was trouble. How dare she bully you? I'll make her pay!"
Seeing Elaine ready to confront Abigail, Olivia quickly stopped her. "Aunt Elaine, don't. I'm not seriously hurt. I came to talk about the cooperation deal."
"What cooperation?" Elaine asked, confused.
Olivia explained, "The White Group is looking for a new jewelry partner. Our company was a top candidate, everything was set, but Gregory rejected all our designs because of Abigail."
As she spoke, tears welled up.
Elaine's anger flared, "I don't know how Abigail seduced Gregory, but it's absurd for him to jeopardize the company's deal for her!"
If Roman were in charge, Elaine would never let this happen!
Olivia wiped her tears, her eyes betraying only hatred and mockery. When she looked up, she masked those emotions with confusion and helplessness.
"Aunt Elaine, what should I do? My boss has made it clear—if I don't fix this, I'll be fired!" Olivia sobbed.
Elaine's face turned serious, thinking hard.
With Gregory in charge, it was tricky. If Stephen had inherited the White Group, it would have been easier. But Stephen wasn't ambitious and didn't mind not inheriting the company. He was just happy-go-lucky.
Stephen was useless!
If he were capable, Elaine wouldn't have to rely on Roman.
Elaine sighed and said, "Stephen still works at the White Group. I'll have him talk to Gregory. Don't worry."
Olivia nodded, looking gratefully at Elaine. "Aunt Elaine, you're so good to me. Since my parents passed, you're the only one who cares about me!"
Elaine felt a pang at the mention of her brother and sister-in-law.
She stroked Olivia's hair, comforting her, "Don't worry, I'll handle this and make Abigail pay."
Before Olivia could relax, a stern voice came from upstairs. "Who do you want to make pay?"
Both Olivia and Elaine were startled, their faces paling.
"Mom, why are you down here?" Elaine asked.
"Good morning, Grace," Olivia greeted.
Grace descended the stairs, eyeing them coolly, "You want to make Abigail pay? What did she do to you?"
Elaine quickly recounted Olivia's story, looking smug.
Grace had always liked Abigail, but now she'd see Abigail's true colors.
Grace's gaze fixed on Olivia, who stayed silent, her eyes probing.
Having done business with George and being adept at reading people, Grace could naturally tell if Olivia was lying. Just as she had sensed when she first met Olivia, she knew this girl was not kind.
She asked calmly, "Did Abigail push you, or did you fall yourself?"
Olivia was shocked, panic flashing in her eyes.
How did Grace see through it?
Had Abigail informed Grace the previous night?
What should Olivia do?
Seeing Olivia lower her head, Elaine thought she was scared and quickly defended her, "Mom, what are you saying? Olivia is kind-hearted; she wouldn't frame Abigail."
Grace gave her a meaningful look, "If that's true, we need both sides of the story. Let's call Abigail here to confront her."
