Chapter 501 A Son and a Daughter
Ignoring the nurse, Gregory rushed into the delivery room and immediately saw Abigail lying pale and weak on the operating table. His heart clenched as he hurried over to hold her hand.
He asked, "Abigail, are you okay? Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?"
Groggy from anesthesia, Abigail thought she was hallucinating when she heard Gregory's urgent voice. Slowly opening her eyes, she realized he was really there; it wasn't a dream.
Giving birth had exhausted her, and she was drenched in sweat, with her hair sticking to her face, but it didn't diminish her beauty at all.
Her delicate, makeup-free face had an indescribable sickly charm that made her even more endearing.
Gregory's heart ached again. "If I had known giving birth was this painful, we shouldn't have had children."
Abigail couldn't help but laugh at his words. "The children are already born, isn't it a bit late to say that now?"
Gregory pressed his lips together and said seriously, "You're right, but we won't have any more in the future."
After all, they already had a son and a daughter, and the White family didn't have a throne to inherit, so they didn't need more children.
Seeing how concerned he was for her, Abigail felt a wave of emotion and smiled. "Yes, no more in the future."
Knowing she couldn't endure it again, Abigail recalled the pain of giving birth naturally and enduring it mostly alone. She never wanted to experience that agony a second time.
Gregory gently tucked the strands of hair sticking to her forehead behind her ear and said softly, "If you're really tired, just rest for a while. I'll be here the whole time."
Abigail shook her head, remembering something, and asked with a smile, "Have you seen the two babies?"
Gregory responded softly, though he had only caught a quick glimpse.
At that time, he was only concerned about Abigail and didn't have the time to pay attention to the two children.
Abigail, however, was full of anticipation. "When they were just born, the doctor showed them to me briefly. They look pretty good."
At this moment, the nurse returned after examining the babies and brought them to Abigail and Gregory with a smile. "The babies are very healthy and energetic. Would you like to take another look?"
Gregory glanced at them and was immediately stunned, blurting out, "Why are they so ugly? Are these really our children? Are you sure they weren't switched?"
These three consecutive questions left the nurse and Abigail dumbfounded.
Especially the nurse, who looked at Gregory in confusion, not understanding what he was saying. "Aren't all newborns like this? Mr. White, I've been watching these babies since they were born; there's no way they could have been switched."
The nurse was afraid Gregory would hold her responsible and turned pale with fear.
Abigail reassured the nurse, "Don't worry, he didn't mean it that way."
Abigail paused and then looked at Gregory. "Newborns are like this, all wrinkled. In a few days, they'll look completely different. Just wait and see."
Gregory was still a bit skeptical. "Really?"
Glancing at the two wrinkled, monkey-like babies in the nurse's arms, he couldn't hide his disdain. They were so ugly—nothing like he had imagined.
Understanding Gregory's thoughts, Abigail couldn't help but laugh. Without her prior research, she might have disliked the two little ones too.
Soon moved to a private room, Abigail could see the two babies in cribs beside her bed just by turning her head. News of her delivery quickly spread, prompting Henry, Quinn, and others to rush over.
Grace, especially excited, immediately gave Abigail a sum of money and gifted each baby a villa.
Abigail couldn't help but joke. "These two little ones are worth millions of dollars just after being born."
Henry and Quinn also brought their gifts and handed them to the babies. "This is just the beginning; there will be more in the future."
Quinn, as their uncle, directly gave the two babies shares of the Worthington Group. Although it wasn't much, only 2% each, the annual dividends were already in the hundreds of millions of dollars.
Maeve came with Quinn, and their relationship was well-known by now.
Maeve took out a pair of Bell Bracelets from her bag, engraved with the babies' names. "These Bell Bracelets aren't worth much, but I made them myself. I hope you like them."
The two babies didn't understand the value of things yet, but the sound of the Bell Bracelets immediately caught their attention. They waved their hands and looked at them with big, curious eyes.
Loving children and happy to see them smile, Maeve instinctively looked up and met Quinn's deep gaze. Momentarily stunned, her ears turned red as she quickly looked away, not noticing Quinn's lips curl up slightly.
