Chapter 189 Locked Up

Gregory was always cool as a cucumber in the business world. Even during the toughest negotiations, he never broke a sweat. But when it came to Abigail, he was never quite sure.

He knew better than anyone that their marriage didn't start out of love.

Sometimes, he couldn't help but wonder if Abigail really loved him. This nagging obsession kept him on edge, making him want to keep her close all the time. But he knew that wasn't right.

So he kept trying to push those feelings down, not knowing how to deal with them.

He pulled Abigail into his arms, resting his chin on her shoulder, gently rubbing. "Abigail, promise me, never leave me, okay?"

Abigail's long eyelashes fluttered slightly, her eyes full of confusion.

She didn't get why Gregory's mood suddenly took a nosedive, but she still told him firmly, "Okay, I will never leave you."

Gregory had brought her home when she was at her lowest, giving her warmth and love. She had long fallen for him, how could she bear to leave him?

"Abigail, remember what you said today, I take it seriously." Gregory suddenly bit Abigail's lip and threatened in a deep voice. "If you ever try to leave me, I will..."

Abigail felt the pain and wanted to pull away, but Gregory held her waist, trapping her in his arms.

Abigail couldn't escape, so she gave up struggling and asked, "What will you do?"

"I will find a place where no one is around, lock you up, and make sure you can never leave me." Gregory's lips were pressed tightly against Abigail's, moving as he spoke, his hot breath falling on her face with a faint mint scent, forceful yet cold, overwhelming her.

A trace of surprise flashed in Abigail's eyes; she didn't expect Gregory to have such a crazy side.

She smiled helplessly, gently patted his shoulder, and said, "Don't worry, that day will never come. Even if we really get separated, I will do whatever it takes to find you and come back to you."

Hearing the satisfactory answer, Gregory's emotions finally calmed down.

He released Abigail, his warm fingertips gently touching her lips, tenderly and carefully caressing the spot he had bitten, a faint trace of heartache in his deep blue eyes. "Does it hurt?"

Abigail pondered for a moment, deliberately drawing out her voice. "It seems to hurt a little."

Hearing this, Gregory's eyebrows furrowed slightly, a trace of regret flashing in his eyes. "Sorry, it's my..."

Before he could finish, his lips were sealed.

"Mr. White, don't say things like that. You said you didn't want me to keep thanking you, and I feel the same way about you. I don't want to hear you say sorry. You are great, always have been," Abigail said. She didn't want to see Gregory like this.

In her heart, Gregory should be proud, able to handle anything with ease.

Looking into the beautiful eyes so close to him, Gregory felt very warm inside.

He finally said okay.

That night, they did nothing but simply held each other and slept, yet their hearts seemed to draw closer.

The next morning, when Abigail woke up, she found the spot beside her already empty.

She rubbed her sleepy eyes and slowly sat up.

The blanket slipped off her shoulders, revealing her collarbone.

Even without makeup, her face was still flawless, with a hint of just-woken-up blush, looking stunning.

She freshened up quickly, grabbed a French long dress from the walk-in closet, and slipped it on. Her golden hair casually draped over her shoulders, swaying slightly as she moved, and her slender neck peeked out from under her hair.

Even just standing there, she seemed to glow.

She headed downstairs and heard Ralph's stern voice coming from the living room, so she curiously peeked in.

Downstairs, all the villa's servants were lined up in three rows.

Ralph stood at the front, looking sharp in a black suit, his posture straight, his expression serious as he scolded the servants, "From now on, if I catch anyone entering Mr. and Mrs. White's room without permission, there will be consequences."

Abigail walked down and asked curiously, "Ralph, what's going on?"

Seeing her, Ralph quickly went to greet her.

His previously stern face softened a bit. "Mrs. White, you're awake? Was I too loud and woke you up? Mr. White specifically said you should sleep in a bit more."

"I've slept enough, and I have some things at the company to handle. What's happening here?" Abigail asked, glancing at the servants with their heads down.

Ralph sighed and said, "A while ago, a servant at Maple Residence was bribed by Kayla. I've already sent that person to the police station. Mr. White instructed me to teach them a good lesson, so they remember."

Abigail nodded and walked over to the servants. "You really need to remember this lesson. Gregory and I aren't fools. We provide you with food, shelter, and the highest salaries in the industry. We've done our part."

Hearing this, the servants suddenly felt a tightness in their chests.

When did Abigail become so assertive? In their minds, Abigail was always gentle and kind, never losing her temper. It seemed she was really upset this time!

So, they quickly expressed their loyalty.

"Mrs. White, rest assured, we would never do such a thing!"

"Yes, you and Mr. White are so good to us. We are willing to work here for a lifetime. How could we do something so stupid?"

"Mr. and Mrs. White are the most generous employers I've ever seen. We will definitely work hard and do our best in the future."

Hearing their words, Abigail smiled with satisfaction and added, "Gregory and I are reasonable people. As long as you work honestly, you will get the high salaries and benefits you deserve."

Hearing this, the servants were overjoyed.

"Thank you, Mrs. White. You are truly kind-hearted."

Their praise made Abigail very happy. She instructed Ralph, "Everyone has been working hard lately, so this month's bonus will be doubled."

As soon as she finished speaking, a burst of cheers erupted in Maple Residence.

Ralph looked at Abigail with a bit of admiration and thought, 'Mrs. White is becoming more and more like Mr. White, maturing and becoming more composed in dealing with people.'
