Chapter 151 Chicken Soup
Half an hour later, Quinn wrapped up his check-up and started packing his tools back into the med kit, one by one.
His moves were quick and smooth, like he'd done this a million times. The med kit was soon all neat and tidy.
Gregory, used to this routine, got up, strolled over to the bed, and asked, "How's she doing?"
Quinn shot him a cool glance and didn't answer right away.
Gregory's heart skipped a beat, and his brows knitted together. "Is something wrong? Did the Martin family hurt her or something?"
Seeing Gregory getting all worked up, Quinn cut him off. "Chill, man. She's just tired and knocked out."
Gregory finally let out a big sigh of relief. 'Thank God she's okay.'
Watching Gregory's face go through a whole range of emotions, Quinn found it kinda funny. "No need to freak out. She's a bit weak but overall, she's fine. But..."
He paused, and Gregory felt like his heart was on a roller coaster, shooting up.
Quinn seemed to be dragging it out on purpose, stretching his words.
Gregory gritted his teeth, frustrated. "But what?"
Quinn continued, "But you need to take it easy. Abigail can't handle you wearing her out like this."
Gregory didn't see that coming, and his ears turned bright red.
He clenched his fist, coughed a bit, and said awkwardly, "Got it, you can go now."
Quinn picked up his suitcase and smirked. "You're really turning into a henpecked husband. Even I gotta step aside for Abigail when she's around."
Gregory, however, looked all proud, saying, "Of course, she's my hard-won wife."
'Of course, I have to pamper and love her,' Gregory thought to himself.
Quinn didn't say more, gave Abigail a long look, and then left with his suitcase.
After he left, Gregory lay back on the bed, his deep blue eyes locked on Abigail.
His well-defined fingers gently traced her cheek, memorizing every inch of her face.
Abigail looked super peaceful while sleeping, her cheeks soft and rosy, glowing with a healthy pink hue.
Her beautiful, tender lips glistened like dewdrops, looking like a ripe peach ready to be picked and savored.
Gregory's heart raced as he leaned in to kiss her soft lips.
Soft and carrying Abigail's unique sweet scent, it was intoxicating.
Abigail slept deeply and only slowly opened her eyes in the evening.
The first thing she saw was a white ceiling and a magnified handsome face.
Abigail's curled eyelashes fluttered slightly, and her misty eyes still carried the daze of just waking up. "Mr. White."
"Awake? You slept so long, you really scared me." Gregory looked at her, a faint smile on his lips.
Abigail's delicate face lit up with a smile. "Sorry for worrying you. I was just too tired."
Even though she'd slept for so long, she was still aware of everything around her.
She knew someone had been there and could feel Gregory staying by her side, but her body was too tired to open her eyes.
Gregory felt a pang of heartache, reached out, and pulled her into his arms. "It's my fault. I should've taken it easy last night and not worn you out."
Thinking of last night, Abigail's cheeks flushed instantly.
She wrapped her arms around Gregory's neck, lifted her head, and kissed the corner of his lips. "I'll forgive you this time. Luckily, I don't have to go out today. If there's a next time..."
Saying this, she clenched her tiny fist and waved it in front of Gregory.
Gregory found her adorable and kissed her small hand, then leaned close to her ear and whispered, "If there's a next time, you can punish me."
Hearing Gregory's words, Abigail's face turned bright red, and she gave him a playful glare, making Gregory laugh heartily.
After some cozy time on the bed, Ralph came knocking on the door. "Mr. White, dinner's ready. You guys coming out to eat?"
Gregory looked at Abigail. "Hungry? Want to grab a bite?"
Abigail opened her arms toward him. "Carry me to the bathroom, I need to freshen up."
Gregory, helpless, bent down and scooped her up, heading to the bathroom.
Abigail quickly freshened up and asked Gregory to bring her shoes. She wanted to walk down herself.
Gregory looked worried. "You sure you can walk? How about I carry you down? It's just a few steps."
"No need, I'm good now!" Abigail said.
It would be so embarrassing to be seen being carried, she didn't want that!
Gregory couldn't argue with her, so he carried her to the bedside and let her put on her slippers.
His hand hovered around Abigail's waist, afraid she might lose her balance and fall.
After she put on her shoes, they went downstairs together for dinner. The kitchen had made chicken soup with some extra goodies to boost her energy.
Abigail ate happily, and with enough rest, her appetite had improved a lot.
Ralph watched from the side, tears of joy welling up in his eyes.
The scene was simply beautiful.
While they were eating, a servant hurried in and said to Gregory and Abigail, "Mrs. Grace White is here."
Abigail and Gregory exchanged a glance, quickly put down their utensils, and went out.
Grace, with Andy, was standing in the living room, looking at them lovingly.
"Gregory, Abigail," Grace called out.
Abigail ran over and hugged Grace's arm, asking, "Mom, why are you here?"
Feeling Abigail's affection, Grace smiled. "Of course, I missed you and wanted to see you."
Abigail asked, "Mom, are you tired? Sit down, I'll get you some water."
Grace waved her hand. "No need to trouble yourself. I just came to see you. Seeing you both happy makes me feel at ease."
Gregory looked at Grace, frowning slightly. "Mom, did something happen at home?"
Grace was about to shake her head and say nothing, but Andy spoke first, "It's Miss Jessica Martin. Ever since she got the certificate with Roman, she moved into the White Manor and has been disrespectful to Mrs. Grace White."
"Andy!" Grace stopped him, frowning in disapproval.
She had just come for a walk and decided to visit Abigail and Gregory on a whim, not wanting to trouble them.
Gregory's frown deepened. "What's going on? Tell me clearly."
Andy had suggested Grace come here with the intention of reporting the situation. Hearing Gregory's question, he spilled everything.
Since Jessica moved into the White family, she had been acting arrogantly.
Almost all the servants had been scolded by her.
There were new complaints every day, making the servants' lives difficult.
Some servants couldn't bear it and came to him to complain, so he told Grace about it.
Grace called Jessica over to ask about the situation.
At first, Jessica was respectful, but when Grace asked her to apologize to the servants she had bullied, Jessica exploded, "Apologize to these lowly servants? Impossible!"
