Chapter 325 Begging for Mercy
Elaine probably didn't expect Abigail's attitude to be so cold. She slowly raised her eyes and met Abigail's extremely cold gaze. The sharp look was as cold as a blade, making her shiver violently.
Elaine nervously swallowed and pleaded in a low voice, "I know I was wrong, I really know I was wrong, please forgive me, okay? I'll do anything to make amends."
Abigail lowered her eyes, her lips tightly pressed together, not saying a word.
Her thoughts were chaotic, like a stormy sea, almost suffocating her.
At this moment, a warm hand suddenly held hers.
Abigail turned her head and met Gregory's deep, worried eyes.
"Abigail, I'm always here," he said.
A warm current suddenly flowed into Abigail's heart, gradually warming her entire body, and her stiff body also began to relax a bit.
She managed to squeeze out a smile at Gregory, indicating she was fine.
"Elaine, I have always avoided conflict. But for what you did to my mom, you will now endure the same."
However, she hadn't come prepared. She should have thought to bring some of that medicine.
Just as she was thinking this, a slender, jade-like hand appeared in front of her.
The hand had distinct joints, and the fingertips held a small white medicine bottle.
Abigail quickly looked up, a trace of surprise flashing in her eyes, somewhat incredulous. "Mr. White?"
Gregory looked at her and nodded slightly. "Yes, it's exactly what you think."
He knew before coming that with Stephen's personality, he would never let Elaine off easily.
But Elaine was Roman's biological mother, and he couldn't bring himself to harm her.
Abigail, even more so, appeared cold on the outside but was softer than anyone on the inside.
He didn't want to dirty Abigail's hands either.
So he would handle this dirty business himself.
Abigail was shocked, not expecting Gregory to have thought of everything for her.
She pressed her lips together, a surge of indescribable emotion welling up inside her.
Gregory gently caressed the top of her head, his deep voice imbued with an ineffable tenderness. "My darling, you are my wife. Regardless of what transpires, I shall remain steadfastly by your side, forevermore."
This was a promise, something Gregory wanted to spend his life fulfilling.
He would do everything in his power to eliminate anything that could harm Abigail, no matter the cost.
Saying this, he slowly walked over to Elaine.
Elaine looked at him in horror, shaking her head desperately, her eyes full of fear and despair. She murmured, "No."
Gregory lowered his eyes, the dim light hiding his face in the darkness, but it couldn't conceal the cold aura around him.
He stood there like a demon from hell, as if he could kill with a single move.
As he slowly bent down and opened the medicine bottle, Elaine felt her breath stop.
She widened her eyes in terror, her body shrinking back, but there was a cold wall behind her, leaving her no way out.
"Gregory, you can't do this to me, I'm Stephen's wife!" Elaine shouted.
"Do I need to remind you? You two are already divorced." Gregory's voice was cold, almost devoid of any warmth.
Elaine trembled violently, seeing that threats were useless, she could only kneel in front of him and beg. "Gregory, for the sake of all I've done for the White Family over the years, and for Roman's sake, please let me go, okay?"
Gregory's gaze fell on the hem of his pants she was clutching, and he frowned in disgust. "Let go."
"No, I won't. If you don't let me go, I won't let go!" Elaine shouted.
Gregory's last bit of patience ran out, and he forcefully grabbed Elaine's neck.
Just as he was about to force the medicine on Elaine, Stephen appeared behind him. "Let me do it."
Saying this, he directly took the medicine from Gregory's hand, grabbed her face with one hand, and poured the medicine into her mouth with the other.
Elaine widened her eyes in disbelief, forced to swallow the medicine.
Stephen let her go, shaking his hand as if he had just touched something filthy.
Elaine, now free, coughed violently, trying to spit out all the medicine.
But the medicine had already gone down her throat into her stomach, and no matter how much she struggled, it was useless.
Gregory looked at Stephen in shock. "Stephen?"
Stephen sighed and said, "This is my mess, I should be the one to handle it."
Even if there was retribution, it should fall on him, not involve Gregory and Abigail.
It was also a way to give Michelle an explanation.
After saying this, he took out his phone and said something to the person on the other end.
Soon, several men in black suits came in and stood in front of Stephen and called, "Sir."
Stephen didn't look at them but turned to Gregory and said, "Take Abigail away, don't let her see any of this."
Gregory nodded, holding Abigail as they left the abandoned warehouse.
As they reached the door, they clearly heard Elaine's voice filled with despair from inside, "Don't come near me, get away, all of you get away!"
Gregory quickly covered Abigail's ears and hurriedly led her away.
Abigail's face was pale, almost devoid of any color.
Gregory comforted her in a low voice, "It's all over now, don't think about it anymore."
Abigail nodded, leaning on his shoulder, not saying a word.
A single tear slowly rolled down her cheek, eventually disappearing into Gregory's suit fabric.
By the time the car arrived home, Abigail had fallen asleep.
But her sleep was restless, occasionally accompanied by sobs, with tears glistening at the corners of her eyes.
Gregory kissed her tenderly, lowering his voice to soothe her. "It's okay, it's all over."
In her sleep, Abigail seemed to sense this, gently rubbing against Gregory, and her tightly furrowed brows slowly relaxed.
Gregory sighed silently, carrying Abigail upstairs.
Roman found out about his parents' divorce two days later. Without thinking, he rushed into Gregory's office, shouting angrily, "Gregory, why did my parents get divorced? Where is my mom?"
Gregory was listening to a report from his subordinates and frowned at the interruption. "This is none of your business, get out."
Hearing this, Roman became even more convinced that Elaine's disappearance was related to him.
He struggled to break free from the bodyguards' grip and immediately rushed to Gregory.
"Gregory, if you don't give me an explanation today, I'm not leaving! You'll see," said Roman.
Leo, with a cold face, was about to take Roman out when Gregory waved him off, signaling him to leave.
Leo had no choice but to obey and left the CEO's office.
